Adelais is a strong, independent person that even if help is offered to him, will not take it no matter what. He chooses to believe instead that if you can't do it yourself, that you will not succeed, for something can only be achieved by your own hard work and perseverance. As a child, he was raised to live by his word, to hold his honor, and to never turn away another in need, even if it was an enemy, for everyone knows to keep their friends close, but their enemies closer. Raised to be an honest man, Adelais is definitely what you would refer to as a man with a 'knight's' personality, and would like to continue to be thought of in that way.
To many, Adelais is a mentor, someone that they can look up to if they are ever in need of advice or guidance. Also, many consider Adelais to be a natural born leader, like all of those in his family, since every family member has become the Alpha of the pack. Also, since he has been alive for so long, he is very wise and cunning, which is another reason that others shall follow him and look up to him. Another thing that is also known about him is that it is not a good thing to make this werewolf angry. These moments are not always often, and usually occur if his pack or loved ones are threatened or hurt in any way. If something like this ever occurs, he can become murderous, depending on how severe the situation is. Once angry, it is hard to stop him until he has calmed down again, so people will usually leave him be to let his anger out before they speak with him again. Though that is his worst quality, his best is his protective nature for both his pack and brother, since he would hate to lose those that he loves.

other family: n/a
other important people: the Caracalla pack members
history:
It was something as if by fate. Something that many would call a happy ending when Accursius and Carissa meet. Of course, it had been set up by the D'Avranches family, since there need to be a continuous line in the family, for each son that was born would become the next Alpha of the Caracalla pack, once their predecessor was killed or finally just passed. That is why these two beings meet in the year 1392, and were married only five years later. But the one thing that usually happened in these marriages was that the other spouse was most likely not a werewolf, yet most of the pack's Alpha have always been born a werewolf. One year later, as if by miracle, their first child was born: Adelais Lucian D'Avranches. His parents were overjoyed that their first child happened to be a boy, and were even more overjoyed when their second was also a boy, who came four years later. Sadly though, his mother passed during child birth while having his brother, Crispin D'Avranches.
As a child, Adelais was always cheerful, always upbeat and wanting to always be around his family. His little brother was always with him, and the pair would usually cause trouble and mischief anywhere they went around the house. Yes, it's true. Though their family was rich and they lived like royalty, Adelais and his brother usually only cared for the bad things that they could cause and do together. It was like they were born to do it. But as Adelais grew older, he became calmer, more mature, and little by little, ceased his childhood antics all together, leaving his brother to cause trouble all on his own.
The days went on, and Adelais and Crispin, after he too, had become more mature, were taught about the history of their family. They were taught about their family's secret, and were taught that if they, too, were to ever discover that they were werewolves, then they would know that they too, were possibly in line to be the next Alpha of the Caracalla's. Just the thought had sent the two boys into dreaming up fantasies that they had become the Alpha of the pack, just like their father had told them, and that they were leading the pack into battle, leading them to another victory that their father would have been proud of. It was these thoughts that coursed through the boy's heads as the years passed by, hoping, and waiting for the moment when they would hopefully join their father in the ranks of the D'Avranches werewolves.
One day, when Adelais was around twenty-two years old, and by then when he had lost hope on ever following in his father's footsteps, he had felt something shift inside of him. It had been sunset, on the night of a full moon when it had happened. Just as the moon had started to rise, Adelais pacing in his room, he had felt something wrench inside of his gut, felt his heart begin to beat faster, felt his body change as something overcame him. It was only after he stood in the center of the large, stone room, that he realized what had happened. Overjoyed, he had given out a loud howl, which his father and brother had heard, and they had come to his room immediately to see what had happened. When his father found out that Adelais had become a werewolf, he too, had become happy, and was also impressed on how well Adelais was able to stabilize his mind in only the first shift.
It seemed then that fortune was on the side of both brothers, for only a few months later, Crispin too, had his first shift, also on a full moon, though he hadn't been as controlled as his brother had been. Their father thrilled by the fact that both of his sons had shifted, he began to teach them how to control their shifts right away, wanting to make sure that if the time would come when one of them would have to take over the pack, they would be in full control of themselves as well as the pack. Just like when he had first shifted, Adelais continued to have good control while in wolf form, while Crispin sill seemed to be struggling with everything. Before long, it seemed that Crispin seemed to be almost jealous of his brother for being able to handle the shifts so easily, but he only pushed himself so that he would be able to have the same good luck as his brother.
Years later, sometime around 1433, Adelais and Crispin had been out with their father in the woods that surrounded their home, practicing their reflexes and fighting moves while in wolf form, when suddenly they had been attacked by what appeared to be mere men. But, as Adelais and his brother soon found out, they were not mere men. They were as fast as he and his family, cold as ice and strong as they were. With quick reflexes, Adelais and Crispin proceeded to fight back, aiming to kill and protect, their father doing the same. But as the two brothers finished off one of the attackers together, the second that their father had been fighting got the upper hand and had snapped his neck, killing him instantly. With rage in his mind, Adelais had turned on the being that had killed his father, sinking his teeth into the being's body, the last words he heard from the man being "Caius will come...." before he had died in Adelais' tight grip. Adelais had dropped him, the man falling into two separate pieces as he hit the ground, though the young werewolf did not care as he made his way over to his father's still figure, which by now had shifted back to human form, and took the pendant that had hung around his neck with his teeth, claiming his right to become the next Alpha.
After that, being the oldest, and most experienced, Adelais took over the position of Alpha for the Caracalla's, Crispin becoming its Beta as he was next in line anyways. He buried deeper and deeper into the death of his father, wanting to find out what the killer had meant by "Caius will come". It was after he did a little investigating that he discovered about the Volturi, and the existence of vampires in this world as well as werewolves. It was then that Adelais vowed that one day; he would kill Caius for being the cause of his father's death, whether it was alone or with the help of his pack. Though Crispin did not exactly agree, he wasn't against the idea, and vowed that he too would help his brother if it was needed.
As the years wore on, Adelais and the rest of the pack slowly began to migrate towards the west, leaving their original pack territory after centuries of living there, Adelais leading them with a strong hand. Soon, they had reached the sea, from which they heard of the new country across it, of the growing nation in its time. With an eager desire to find a new home for his pack, they crossed the sea as workers on a sailing vessel that was headed to this new country, and when they reached it, were glad to see that though it was still a fairly new country, it had promise. By this time, it was the year 1781, and it seemed that this nation had only recently gained its independence and earned the right to call themselves a free nation. Adelais had decided to call this country their new home, but they would still need a new place to call their own, a new territory.
Another century had passed, and by this time, the pack had settled in a forested area that today would have been known as the area surrounding Seattle, Washington. Here, they called this their new home, called this their territory, setting up homes scattered around the area, which was a small valley buried deep in the forests that they soon came to call Stranger's Haven. Here, this little valley was tucked out of reach of any other, only reachable by the wolves of Caracalla, and out of reach of the war that by that time that raged within the nation. By this time, Adelais had figured that his name would sound to strange to any other head had meet, and had decided to change his middle name at least, so that he would be able to have a nickname that sounded normal to others that did not know his secret. So he changed it to Alan, and has not changed it since.
Again, yeas went by, and another century passed. The world changed around Stranger's Haven, and like they had been doing so for centuries, adapted to the changes as roads began to be built, passing through the valley, now connecting them to the outside world, and making it possible for outsiders to come to their small little village that they had created so long ago. They did not mind, it was true, but now Adelais was even more alert, even more ready for a threat should one arise to threaten his pack. It was what his father had taught him to do. But by this time, the pack had been joined by newer members, and not from just the line of families that had been a part of the pack for decades now. No, now they took in those that were lost, confused, those that needed a home and a place to stay where they would not be outcast.
To this day, that virtue stands true, with Adelais still standing as the pack's Alpha, looking out for both them and still caring for his little brother in any way that he possibly can. Stranger's Haven still exists, and is still a constant haven for any werewolf that needs refuge, still the territory and home of the Caracalla pack until the day the pack decides to move again. Adelais still searches for the day when his chance at Caius will come, when his moment of truth will arise, for he wants so badly to be able to kill the one man that caused him so much pain decades ago. It has been know that Adelais has returned with Crispin to the D'Avranches estate at time, being as it still stands even after they left it, though they will not move the pack back to their old grounds, for the brothers still believe that if they moved back, their time there would be to painful to deal with day after day. So instead, their lives are now carried out in the forests near Seattle, waiting to see what the future will hold.
