The rain pattered softly on the roof of the Cullen house as the clouds slowly dragged across the sky above, drenching the entire town of Forks, Washington in the unyielding downpour. But it was Forks, so it wasn't surprising to have such weather at this time of year. It was a cool day, and what with the lack of sunshine there really wasn't anyone out int he rain. No one really had a reason to. Anastasia Cullen was no exception to such a rule.
Normally she didn't mind such weather. On the contrary, she absolutely loved rainy days, but for once Ana wasn't in the mood to be out and about in the rain amongst the trees of the forest like she often was. Maybe it was because, on a day like this, she was reminded of a place she had once called home....of London. The weather over in London easily compared to days such as these, and the rain often drug up memories she had never thought she'd remember, happier times from her human life. But then her thoughts would steer towards her brother and everything would be thrown off once more.
It was for these reasons that she had snatched a book from Edward's room and had slowly sneaked back to her own room to curl up in a love seat near one of the wide windows which ran across the expanse of her rooms and made up her outer walls. Ana had been sitting with her legs tucked close to her chest as the book rested in her lap, slowly flipping through the pages as she engrossed herself in the book, hardly really paying attention to anything else at the moment.
But just because she didn't seem to be paying attention didn't mean she wasn't. The slightest sound of footsteps echoed from the stairs, and instantly Ana's head shot up. She knew who it was, since no one else in the house had a step like that, but it was habit after all this time. Her hand absentmindedly reached out to the small flower she had resting on a little side table next to her little loveseat, her hand stroking the delicate silvery white petals of the rose as she turned her gaze to it.
"Alice..do you ever knock?" Ana asked quietly as she heard the door creak open, turning her gaze away from the flower to look over to her adoptive sister, the pixie like girl now standing in her doorway with her usual smile. "Is there are reason you came?" Alice knew how Ana could be when it came to her reading, and although she loved her sister, well....there were moments when quiet time was a nice thing to have.

The truth was as the rain pattered softly against the roof of the house, she couldn’t help but smile. Jasper was out of the house—he needed to hunt and had left early that morning. She hadn’t seen Edward and the others so she didn’t expect to be caught off guard. Considering they were in Forks, Washington the rain was not a surprise. It was comforting in her oppinion. It meant they could go out and play baseball if they wanted should the weather be suitable for it. She couldn’t help but enjoy weather like this. With a bit of lightning they could go have some real American fun with their favorite past time. However it took the entire family playing to have enough people to play and right now not enough of them were home. So she wandered about the house—trying to think of something to do.
She knew the consequences of wandering about the house—knew enough not to break one of Esme’s vases and to create a scene but being in the middle of nowhere alone—it often made her think of what had happened years ago. Having no real memory of her human life, the woman had to deal with what she had been able to find out now—about her past. Anastasia had been a part of their lives now for quite some time and she loved her, but sometimes the woman didn’t know when to lighten up. She had gone to check on Anastasia just because she hadn’t heard the other vampire move for quite some time and since she could tell she wasn’t in the house alone—it made sense.
“Ana...I did knock but you were so absorbed in that book of yours you probably didn’t hear it.” She asked her sister in the same tone that Ana had used on her. She eyed her adoptive sister carefully—using her knowledge of body language to dictate whether or not she was intruding or if it was safe enough to enter the room. “I just came to see if you were alright is all. Hadn’t seen you in a while. Jasper and the others went out on a hunt with Nessie. So....I just I figured I’d see what you were up to, but if you want—since you’re reading I could come back at another time?” The pixie like vampire just stood there in the doorway—not even truly entering the room. She didn't want to intrude.

Ana watched the emotions of her sister carefully. She knew how Alice could be after all these years, and although she tended to be a bit more on the constantly peppy side, it seemed that, for once, the little vampire was serious. With her features passive the way that they were, Ana almost didn't know what to think as she looked at her sister. But she figured after a moment that she was acting as such most likely because she was bored.
A small smile tugged at her lips with that thought. Alice had always had a bit of a need to keep herself occupied, and although during her early years with the family the habit had seemed annoying, now it wasn't so bad, but rather a pleasant trait she had come to tolerate over the years. "Books are the best distraction I have from the past," Ana replied simply as she slid her book closed, leaving it to rest on her lap for a moment. A few seconds more passed between them, and slowly she shook her head. "No, it's alright. You've got my attention now." She said then as she stood, clutching the small, worn book in her hand.
"Besides," Ana started with a small grin. "I should probably return Edward's book to him." Moving across the room, Ana passed by her sister and through the doorway and motioning for her to follow. It only took a few seconds for her to enter Edward's room, put the book back, then return to the hall. She looked over to Alice, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear as she moved towards her once more. "Well, we have the house to ourselves.....what do you want to do?"

Most of the time she was able to be happy and go lucky but here lately she had been a little more serious and it could be because she was getting older and there were things that she was cautious about, her family especially especially when one of them were angry. Little or not she was serious about not intervening.
She was bored—to a certain extent which is why she had gone to see if anyone else was home. She wasn’t one of those women who were just content with being a boring housewife—she wanted action—she wanted something to do. She had tolerated the habits of the others so they could tolerate hers.
“Some things are better left forgotten, I understand.” She replied as her sister closed the book delicately. “Are you sure?” She teased her sister and reciprocated the small grin her sister used. “Yeah but I highly doubt he’s missing that book much.” She replied as she watched her sister’s movement.
Until Ana passed her and motioned for her to follow. She did follow—and it only took them a few seconds to enter their brother’s room and return the book then go back out to the hallway. She smirked as Ana asked what they should do. “I don’t know...anything you have in mind? But being alone in the house is a good thing. We have full reign to do what we want, as long as we don’t destroy the furniture, otherwise Esme will have our heads or so she’s said over the years...” She questioned her sister as she had no idea what to do because two people couldn’t make a baseball team. The grin disappeared into a simple smile.

It had always been pleasant when it came to memories among those of the Cullen household. For years now she had been among them, and in the process she had always found herself taking to their ways and their customs, their mannerisms slowly becoming her own. She liked being around the Cullens. It had given her a sense of family, one she had sorely needed once Carlisle had taken her from her own family when she had been on the verge of death.
It wasn't a bad thing, what he did, but back then Ana had thought differently. She'd hated him for taking her away from her family, as well as from her beloved brother. His death had been his fault in her eyes, but now she knew it was a foolish thought. She had long since come to terms with the fact it had indeed been her fault her brother had died, whether she liked it or not. In the end, though, it had brought her closer to her family for some reason. Ana was still happy for that thought though, so she wasn't about to complain.
A soft laugh escaped her lips as she listened to Alice, leaning against the bannister with ease as she looked towards her sister. "And how many times have we broken the furniture because Emmett decided to have a mock fight in the middle of the living room?" She smirked, still laughing softly as she turned her gaze away, starting to think through the options of what they had to do in the house. "Well...there is always cooking?" Ana asked a bit hesitantly, not to sure about what Alice would prefer to do. She was fairly open to anything. Well, as long as it didn't involve any sort of makeover of course.

The house had always been a pleasant one, one they always seemed to return to, or so it appeared. She loved this house—with it’s elaborate decorations and the openness. Where they could be themselves without hiding to try who they were. It was refreshing in her eyes. She could remember when she first joined the family. And how close she’d established a connection with Edward and Esme and Carlisle, who were the first three that were in the family, followed by her and her husband Jasper. Having been a vampire—she felt relieved to find that she wasn’t alone and was grateful for the visions which led her to Jasper and to the family she now belonged to and she wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Having been with the family for a long while before Ana came into their lives—she had gotten used to how each of them acted and what they disliked. She enjoyed being around her family—although there were times where she and Jasper both wanted to get out and do things for themselves as having a house to themselves—that was difficult in their family. At any given length of time.
Carlisle was a blessing in her eye, for being as welcoming as he had been to her and to Jasper both. Esme was a great mother to her and it was nice having someone who enjoyed the same thing that she did. So it was easy for her to fit in with them and of course Edward...well Edward was one of her favorites. He was always the one that could make her smile and was quite entertaining on the piano. It was kind of a different sort of life than she would have expected for herself to take but was relieved that she had. As far as her human family was concerned she had one that was still alive, her niece who lived back in Mississippi. As her sister—her baby sister had died quite a while ago. But what had been left behind. After all it hadn’t been her fault—but that of her parents. They were the ones who had sent her to the asylum which had in the end been the result of her death as a human and her new life as a vampire—from what she had discovered over the years.
She couldn’t help but laugh softly when she listened to Ana comment about the furniture. “Yes, but if you will remember I think Esme was about to rip his head off herself. You know how she is about keeping things nice.” She smiled at the memory. She wouldn’t have blamed Esme if she had after all, Emmett was a little more rough with things than he needed to be but she loved him anyway. For now they were doing what they had to do to keep busy.
“And cook what exactly, when you know neither one of us can actually eat any of it. I can’t even remember what human food tastes like. Unless you’re expecting our niece to be the guinea pig for a new experiment? Or better yet one of the shifters...” She grinned as she thought about it. A few years back she would have probably been the one to suggest that first, especially for the ones Jake talked about.
