Growing up, Miyako was a very obedient child. She always did as she was told, and never caused any trouble. At least, that was what her parents thought. Mostly she just lied a lot when people asked her if she had done something wrong, and thanked her lucky stars when they believed her. Predictably, she became more responsible as she grew older, though she still lied when she'd done something she knew those close to her wouldn't like.
Though she hasn't been to her homeland in many years, she still loves observing Japanese traditions and holidays wherever she goes, as well as listening to music in her native tongue. She wants to keep in touch with her roots, even if she can't live there for long periods of time. Of all the different animals, Miyako adores birds the most, particularly hunting birds. When she was human she loved watching takagari, Japanese falconry. There was just something so majestic about watching the birds take to the air in pursuit of their prey.
Miyako loves to learn new things, particularly languages and the histories of different countries. She finds all the new technology humans are inventing now intriguing, though she doesn't have a clue how to operate most of it. She's very proud of herself for being able to operate a cell phone, much to the amusement of her mate.
Mother ::[/i] Kazumi

Other important people ::[/i] Yuki Suzuki Volturi (cousin)
History ::[/i]
Miyako was born during the rule of the Japanese Emperor Go-Reizei, or Emperor Reizei II, to the Suzuki family. She was the second child born to her parents, and her mother's pride and joy. A few years after she was born, her aunt and uncle gave birth to a baby girl, who they named Yuki. When Yuki got a little older Miyako started spending more and more time with her, adoring her little cousin as well as Yuki's sister Aya. Yuki's parents however, did not view their daughter's rebellious personality as endearing as Miyako did, and eventually disowned their daughter, much to Miyako's horror. She tried searching for her cousin, but it was all in vain.
Eventually coming to accept that her cousin was probably dead, Miyako later married a man named Noboru. She bore him a son, Koichi, and lived contently for the first two years of her marriage. When their baby was two years old, her husband had to leave for war. A few weeks later. Miyako discovered she was pregnant again. Unfortunately, she lost the baby soon after, and a few weeks after that she received a message that her husband had died in the war.
She spent the next few weeks consumed by grief. Though she had not been in love with her husband, they had become good friends over the years and she mourned his passing. She also couldn't help but think that loosing the baby had been her fault somehow. If she had only done something differently, would her child have lived? Eventually deciding that she needed to be with her family during a time like this she returned to her childhood home. She raised her son there for the next few years.
The details leading up to her change are still a bit of a blur for her, it all happened so fast. She's almost certain that the man who taught her about her new life killed the person who actually turned her, but she can't remember much about the dead woman at all. She can picture her face, the look in her eyes as she came closer and closer to her, but she can't remember so much as the woman's name. She wonders if she even knew it in the first place. For a while she traveled with the killer of the one who turned her. He seemed nice enough, and she didn't know what else to do. Eventually though, he was hunted down and killed by the mate of the woman who turned her. She was alone. She wanted to go back home and see her son, but she was too afraid that she would not be able to control herself when she smelled his blood. So she stayed away from her family, letting them believe her dead while keeping her ears open for any news she could hear about them.
Since then she's traveled the world, having met her mate Andres along the way. She adopted the name Selene after having her own name mispronounced one too many times. She's worried about all the tension going around in the vampire world, but she doesn't see that she can do much about it. She just hopes things don't escalate into an all out war.

Role Play Sample ::[/i] Another day in Volterra was beginning, and Renata couldn't help but smile in satisfaction as she heard her family going about the Volturi castle finding ways to amuse themselves in the absence of any Volturi business to take care of. Renata herself was currently in one of their 'living rooms' having been told by Aro that he was going to spend time with his wife Sulpicia and that she could do as she liked in the mean time. She smiled as she thought of the couple. They went so well together, and it was clear they loved each other very much. She sighed softly. I wish I could find someone who loved me like that. She thought to herself.
Still, she had her family. Her large, wonderful family. Unfortunately, the Volturi had many enemies, as was to be expected when one family had been in power for centuries. Thankfully Renata, along with many of her siblings, had been graced with an ability to help protect their family. Working together they had managed to shield the Volturi from serious harm for many years. Until she came along. Isabella Cullen. She alone had rendered many of their abilities useless when they had met with the Cullen clan to investigate an informant's claim of an immortal child. If the Cullens decided to utilize the opportunity this presented them with, the Volturi would be in serious trouble. Renata frowned to herself as she considered this. The leader of the coven, Carlisle, had once been Master Aro's friend though, so perhaps that old, somewhat damaged friendship would convince him to not do so. She certainly hoped so.
Renata turned a page in her book, not really reading but wanting to keep up the appearance of it for some reason. It was a good book, but she had already read it many times. She smiled and hummed softly to herself as she thought of her family. Aro, Marcus, and Caius who led them, darling Jane and Alec, who terrified any lawbreakers, Chelsea, who kept their family close, Demetri, Felix, Heidi, Afton... Her smile grew as images of them flashed through her mind. Truly, she was a fortunate woman. She was startled out of her thoughts as she heard someone approaching the room. She glanced upward curiously, wondering if they had come to relax or to find her. No doubt it was one of her family members, the question was, which one?
