Personality ::
Renata is a quiet woman. She prefers to listen to what others think than to voice her own opinions. On the rare occasions that she's not with Aro or one of the other Volturi leaders she likes to read and listen to music. Renata is generally a kind, if somewhat suspicious person. She's usually pretty laid back unless you've broken the Volturi laws or tried to hurt the Volturi. She loves children, or vampires who look like children (Jane and Alec). She wants to spoil them all, whether they like it or not.
Renata is very protective of her family, maybe a little overprotective, and she doesn't like it when her fellow members of the guard leave to go on missions. She especially doesn't like it when the three brothers leave Volterra, but thankfully that doesn't happen often. She longs to find her mate. She's happy for those who have, but she's also rather jealous of them. She's happy serving the Volturi, but when she looks at all the happy couples she can't help feeling like something's missing.

History ::[/i]
Renata was born in Malta on May 23, 1243 to Angelo and Giovanna. She was the eldest of three children, her younger sister Paola was born when she was two years old, and her brother Luciano when she was four. As she grew she spent a great deal of time with her little siblings and their friends, and very little with people her age. Her family knew about vampires long before she became one, because several of their family members had become vampires over the years. On her twentieth birthday, her great-uncle Luca turned her. Originally she had wanted to stay close to her family, after she got her thirst under control of course, but fate had other plans. When she changed she acquired a gift that caught the attention of the Volturi. She could guard herself, and others as she later found out, from physical attacks. Of course, nearly everyone in the vampire world knows that when the Volturi want something, it's generally a bad idea to keep it from them. So her great-uncle encouraged her to join them, and she heeded his advice. She quickly rose through the ranks of the Volturi guard and became Aro's personal bodyguard.
Ever since the 'Cullen incident' 50 years ago in the clearing, Renata has become more untrusting of anyone outside the Volturi. It was abundantly clear then just who had more support among the different covens, and unfortunately it wasn't her family. She did feel bad that they had come to destroy a child of all things, but her family came before anything else, so she couldn't feel too badly about it when said child was surrounded by a group of dangerous vampires and shapeshifters who were ready and willing to attack them if the Cullens gave the word. Of all the Cullens, she is most worried about Bella, who can block even Jane and Alec's powers. If she can do that, could she render Renata's ablility useless too? It's not exactly something she likes thinking about. She's really looking forward to the ball her family is hosting soon. Hopefully they'll get more family members.

Another day in Volterra was beginning, and Renata couldn't help but smile in satisfaction as she heard her family going about the Volturi castle finding ways to amuse themselves in the absence of any Volturi business to take care of. Renata herself was currently in one of their 'living rooms' having been told by Aro that he was going to spend time with his wife Sulpicia and that she could do as she liked in the mean time. She smiled as she thought of the couple. They went so well together, and it was clear they loved each other very much. She sighed softly. I wish I could find someone who loved me like that. She thought to herself.
Still, she had her family. Her large, wonderful family. Unfortunately, the Volturi had many enemies, as was to be expected when one family had been in power for centuries. Thankfully Renata, along with many of her siblings, had been graced with an ability to help protect their family. Working together they had managed to shield the Volturi from serious harm for many years. Until she came along. Isabella Cullen. She alone had rendered many of their abilities useless when they had met with the Cullen clan to investigate an informant's claim of an immortal child. If the Cullens decided to utilize the opportunity this presented them with, the Volturi would be in serious trouble. Renata frowned to herself as she considered this. The leader of the coven, Carlisle, had once been Master Aro's friend though, so perhaps that old, somewhat damaged friendship would convince him to not do so. She certainly hoped so.
Renata turned a page in her book, not really reading but wanting to keep up the appearance of it for some reason. It was a good book, but she had already read it many times. She smiled and hummed softly to herself as she thought of her family. Aro, Marcus, and Caius who led them, darling Jane and Alec, who terrified any lawbreakers, Chelsea, who kept their family close, Demetri, Felix, Heidi, Afton... Her smile grew as images of them flashed through her mind. Truly, she was a fortunate woman. She was startled out of her thoughts as she heard someone approaching the room. She glanced upward curiously, wondering if they had come to relax or to find her. No doubt it was one of her family members, the question was, which one?
