Emmett was a big bear, no doubt about it, but he was also very difficult, and the man didn’t tend to listen no matter what anyone told him. But she loved their brother nevertheless. It had brought the family closer together but of course she was well aware of the time each couple needed to have alone, in order to strengthen an already strong bond. She smiled softly as she watched her husband speak. “Well if you would prefer Emmett over me, I think there’s a bit of a problem with that!” She teased as she knew that, there was no way Emmett could compete with her, even if he tried to, because he'd fail.
If she were human, chills would have gone through her spine when her husband kissed her cheek. She loved the man, and there was nothing that would stop her from loving him, even if it was a bit of a different situations than most couples had to endure. They had spent more than a decade together and she loved every bit of it. She was excited about this little kidnapping game. They could have so much fun with it, even if she knew it would escalate very quickly. This wasn’t just a typical game, she was going to take it seriously, as would her husband. May the best one win. Of coruse she knew it was going to be fun, and that it didn’t matter who won overall as it just meant they would get to spend more quality time together, and that was what the game was all about to begin with.
She couldn’t help but give him what he needed, the two were a match made for eachother. Sure she could see into the future, and he had the ability to control and sometimes manipulate one’s emotions to best suit the situation but rarely had he needed to use it on her. Of course, like with every ability, one had to be careful with it’s use. Especially when they were around humans. It was safe to say she loved it, just being ‘normal’ again. They could live amongst humans without a problem, although sometimes they had to sneak away to go feed, but most times they could control it until after classes were done for the day.
She couldn’t help but chuckle when he mentioned using his gifts on her. “Yes, well you’d do it with or without my input, my love. And I’m only guilty because I can’t get surprised by my husband more often. Yes, sometimes...more often than not, my curiousity gets the better of me, and I can’t help but watch your future to see what you’re planning to get me for our anniversaries, or any other special occassion. But it’s not just because I want to know what you’re getting me why I watch your future, the most...there’s also the fact that I love you and I don’t want to see you get hurt. Because if I were to lose you, you and I both know I’d make a scene and cause the Volturi to end my life. So that I could be reunited with you again.” She said innocently as she felt him lean into her kiss.
All she could feel was the serenity of this place, and of the love her husband had for her. When the kiss broke she knew he was up to something. She heard what he had to say about the best man...and hesitatingly adding woman win. She kissed him with everything that she had, when his lips were on top of hers. When he finally ended the kiss, she smacked him playfully on the arm. She was going to give him a piece of her mind now that she knew for certain that he was going to do something that she did not like. She wished he wouldn't do it.
She felt him kiss the tip of her nose gently before speaking up. But although he was coming clean with her, she had already had a vision which detailed everything that her husband was going to be doing for the Volturi. She did not like this not at all. “I know, I saw it. Your letter from Aro. Please tell me you’re not taking this seriously. I don’t want you to have any part of it, I don’t care if he wants you on his guard for the night. That’s not important. You know they’re going to use this as a way—to get to us, to our family. You can’t be serious. Jasper, honey, I love you, but if you think you’re going to be able to do this, without reprecussions, you’re wrong. They’re testing you, love. They want to see what you can do with your gift, and if they like what they see, they will try and collect you, just like they have tried with Edward and I.” She said as she felt him lift her head to look at him. She did not like this and she was going to make it known. She did not want him to have anything to do with it at all. It scared her to be honest.
“I don’t care if they want the night to run smoothly or not, they can do it on their own. They’re just looking for a reason to start something and this is enough. I can’t....I cannot tell you what to do, because you’re going to do what you’re going to do with or without my approval, however, it’s more serious than you think. I don’t like this, Jazz. I don’t like it at all. I don’t care if he says you’re going to be able to spend the entire night with me. No matter if we’re together or not, he’ll find a way to screw that up. He always has. You know he wants me for my power, and he’d do anything to get it, even if it meant coming after the people I love. I know you don’t want to join him, I don’t either. But this will give him the opening he wants! He’s using this as a platform to get to me, he’ll deny it if you ask but it’s the truth. You can’t—we can’t do this again. There’s only so many times we can turn him down, understand? Please reconsider, that’s all I’m asking.” She was very worried, and no amount of his ability to control her emotions would get her to calm down. She was very upset. She did not like the idea of Aro asking her husband to be an honorary guard even if it was for just one night. He was going to use it, anything he could to get to her. And she’d have to fight, even if she didn’t necessarily want to. But she would fight for her family.

Jasper could feel her worry breaking through the calmness that he had been creating, he let it happen he could not force her to be calm about things this he knew she voiced everything that had been going through his head since he had read the letter. He was quite sure she was right about him being tested Aro had a ton of guards that could be there when he clicked his fingers, so why would he want one vampire that could make people feel happy or sad. To be honest Jasper was not sure if he wanted to be apart of it the thing was this was Aro, he could not exactly turn around a refuse without their being repercussions either way there was going to be damage and Jasper just did not know what to do to keep the peace. As Alice spoke about Aro wanting to collect his gift he smirked, this may be a test but he doubted Aro would want his ability "I don't think they want my ability Alice, it is nothing compared to all the other ones he could have, if anything it's probably to get to you and I know your right, to be honest I'm not sure I want anything to do with it. I just dont know what to say this is Aro remember I can't really just turn around and say no either way there is going to be some form of repercussion. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. The last thing I want is for you to join him or for him to use me to get you to join, but I don't know what to say to get out of this without causing any damage to either side"
He sighed looking down at the floor, Jasper knew Alice was right and he wanted to walk away from this from the Volturi, to be honest he did not even want to got the Ball, it was Carlisle who thought it best the go to keep the peace between them and the Volturi. The thing was they did not need to go angering Aro even more, which was why Jasper did not want to refuse "I just don't know what to do Alie, I understand everything you are saying and I know you are right, but Carlisle has been trying to get us back into their good books and I'm worried that me refusing to help will make us all look bad again and it will put us right back to square one. I just don't know" Aro was a tricky person he was holding all the cards, by having them all in Volterra for the ball and it left the rest of them at a disadvantage not sure what to do or what to say, more than anything Aro wanted Alice in the Volturi with her ability he could be even more powerful and he could second guess everyone trying to over throw him or hide things from him, they could not allow that to happen at all.
"I know what he is like, I know he will use me to get to you, that's what he does, but what can I do?" He kept his gaze on the forest floor watching the grass sway in the wind slowly from one side to the other, sometimes he wished they could just run away and escape the Volturi, never have them watching over, waiting for them to trip up so they could try enlist them, he wished for a day when they could be free of Aro's grasp on their family, but he knew that day would not come soon no matter how much he wished. Apart of him wished he had never brought it up, even though Alice had already known, he had given her something else to worry about another reason to keep a close eye on his future and once again Aro was getting to them like he was trying to tear them apart.

She knew that he hadn’t meant to worry her but something like this, with Aro involved was going to make her worry no matter what he said. She was afraid for him, more so than she was for herself. She knew that Aro had more than enough vampires to watch over the ball which was why she had been angry that Aro had wanted Jasper to be a part of it. Time was not on their side, not this time. She was afraid that maybe Aro was using this—the ball to separate her and Jasper, because if she lost him—she’d do anything she had to—in order to end it. To give him exactly what he wanted in the end. Keeping the peace, yes, they needed to do that but how could htey? What with Aro wanting to collect their gifts? Hers and Edward’s especially. “Honey. Jazz, it has everything to do with it. They know how close we all are, and separating us is key to them getting what they want. You shouldn’t have to spend your time with the Volturi, no matter what the result. We can come up wtih something. You know Carlisle will want to hear about this.” She said as she looked at her husband, worried more so over his safety, and that of their family’s than anything else. “You have to just fight it. You can’t give them what they want. I know we promised Carlisle that we would maintain the peace but there’s only so much we can do. Either way, whether you say yes to this, or you don’t. Aro will be watching, and he’ll use this to his advantage. He knows I’d be lost without you. He knows I would do anything to protect you, to protect this family.” She said as she held onto him. She did not like this conversation one bit but it was one they needed to have, even if it was painful.
She knew the risks in which they were taking and she didn’t want to upset Aro more than he already would be, but she didn’t want Jasper involved in this. She didn’t want him involved at all. “I know we can’t afford to make Aro upset, we already have enough problems with them as it is, but to do this, you’re putting yourself at risk, you’re putting us all at risk. Not intentionally but it’ll happen. I love you, and I just don’t want anything to happen to you. Carlisle is trying his best to get us back in their good graces, as you said but your refusing to help has nothing to do with it. Even if it does look bad against us, you know, we just we’ll stick together the way we always have....even if Aro is holding all of the cards.” She replied to her husband as she kissed him softly.
“We will just have to take things slowly. You have to do what it is you want to do, but remember once you walk through that door—once you’ve agreed to it, there is no going back. Jazz, I’ve always supported you like any wife would, but this is something I don’t agree with. But I know you have no other choice, none of us do. Which means we’re going to have to play by their rules....until we can figure a way out of this mess. I know we’ll never be able to escape the Volturi or their rules, that they’ll always be coming for us, because there are certain gifts they’d like to collect, mine...Bella’s and Edward’s especially. I’m just I’m really scared this time, Jazz. I don’t like not knowing what it is they’re up to. I just hope this Ball of theirs isn’t some kind of a trap....”
She sighed as she stayed close to her husband as she feared to leave his side at this moment. Knowing all too well that if the Volturi had come seeking for him to join them—even for one night—anything could be possible. She would be watching their future closely.

Jasper felt sick what could he say to them? It was a slippery slope he was on at the moment and he had no choice but to fall down, he and no idea what choice to make he wanted to be on the right side, but he was not sure what side that was. He sighed letting go of Alice and running a hand through his hair feeling sick, he turned to face straight on looking at the forest in front of him what did he do? He listened as Alice went on saying things he already knew about the risks and the effects it would have he knew what she was saying was true. It was a decision he did not want to have to make, he did not even want to think about it, the Volturi were pushing events out of his hands and his control, he did not like not being in control not anymore. He could feel Voltori twisting a knife in his back as if they were trying to turn him against his family, thing to manipulate him push him into a corner so that he could not make his own decisions. He kept his gaze on the floor, more than anything he wanted to run away, Jasper had never coped well under pressure this was preassure he did not want, he did not choose.
When Alice spoke about telling Carlisle he nodded slowly, though he was not sure what his adopted father could suggest that would help him out, but knowing Carlisle he would have something calm to say or suggest. It made him wonder whether they were actually using him to get to his family or for once did they actually just want his help, was this Aro just hoping he would second guess his actions, was this all Aro just trying to get into his head into all their heads reminding them he was still around. That they still had to worry about him, that he was going to get them all. He did not know what to say to Alice, he did not know what he could do he felt like this was all his fault when he had done nothing wrong, this was all Aro manipulating his emotions making him doubt himself, making him question what to do. It made him wonder what had he done to deserve this, he began to feel very angry all of a sudden he wanted to stop feeling horrible, he did not like the preassure of this decision, his hands slowly formed fist in either side of him as the angry coursed through him.
Next to him he could feel Alice's fear growing next to him, he tried to ignore it but it was difficult to more than anything he wanted to wrap his arms around her, hold her close and just enjoy the moment, but now he just felt distant and even more alone. Jasper wanted to run, he wanted to clear his head of everything that was going through it, he wanted to be free of the Volturi though he knew the only way to do this was death and that was a difficult thing to do when you were a vampire. Several thoughts on how he could try ran through his mind but he quickly tried to push them aside knowing that these were decisions that changed his future which meant if he thought about them too much Alice would see it and he did not want that to happen. Instead he stayed quiet watching the trees sway slowly in the wind, trying to calm himself down he needed to relax a little he could not let his emotions get the best of him. Controlling everyone else's emotions was easy, but his own he had difficulty with he knew he let himself get angry to quickly and his anger was not going to help anyone.

In all their time together she had no idea how it had gotten to this very moment. The two were usually able to enjoy eachother’s company without interruption but something like this—had come up in conversation and although she understood why it had, she didn’t like it. She feared more for his sake, than anything else. She knew that it was a slippery slope that he would soon be on but she would be by his side no matter what. Even if she didn’t like what he was doing, but as his wife, the woman would do anything for him. To make him happy. Even if it meant going against the very things she had believed in. When he released her, she was afraid.
It was something, she had never known before. In all their years together she had no idea why things became so distant between them. How with one topic of conversation, they had lost the very thing that they had hoped to attain. She watched as he looked out into the woods, and although she didn’t know what was going on in his mind she knew he was afraid, and feeling like everything had been lost. She knew that she had probably said too much but she was afraid. And she tended to speak her mind on important matters. Jasper would know this better than anyone. She wanted to support him, to let him know she loved him and wouldn’t abandon him.
Had she said too much? She knew that all of it was something he did not want to face. Having been married to the man, she could sense certain things about him. He was tense..and with good reason. She knew that he did not want to think about it. She knew more than anything else that neither of them liked not having any control over things. It was as though the Volturi was trying to separate the two, and that was a dangerous notion. She wanted to grab him and get out of there, get as far away from Forks as they could, but no matter where they went the Volturi would be watching. She knew this better than most. What was Aro’s plan in all of this? Could Carlisle really help ease the situation?
She was questioning what Aro’s motives actually were. If they were just what Jasper had said, that he wanted help controlling the party, or if it were something more sinister? She didn’t like the fact that anyone dared to manipulate her husband. To bring this up—Aro was pushing his limits. Now she did not like to fight but she wasn’t about to watch as her husband do something he would regret. Jasper had done nothing wrong—she knew that and had tried to be supportive of that fact. She just hoped he’d understand that she loved him and that nothing would stop her from loving him. Not ever. Even when she took her last breath she would be loving him. And only him. Aro was manipulating the situation, as were the entire Volturi. When suddenly Jasper seemed more distant she became worried. She watched him briefly for a moment before wrapping her own arms around her husband. As soon as she did, she started to feel more relaxed...only his touch could make her calm down slightly. Although it didn’t mean she wasn’t worried, but it helped ease the tension she was feeling.
“Jazz honey, don’t be uspet...please. We both know what happens when you get angry...look at me. Whatever happens, as long as we’re together we’ll be alright. I know you’re scared, I can feel it. I know you’re angry, even though you’re indecisive right now because you’re scared to put me through seeing what could become of your future, stop it. I love you, and I don’t want to see you in pain. I do not want anything to happen to you. Do you understand? I know you too well, I know you’re trying every possible method you’ve got to try and weasel your way out of it, but don’t...don’t do anything that would end your life. Because without you, Jazz, I’d be as good as dead too. Just relax...take it easy. Please, just look at me. You’re not alone in this, Jazz. I’m right here and I promise I’ll never leave you. I’ll never let anything happen to you.” She explained to her husband. Because it was just as she said, if Jazz died, they might as well have two funerals because she could not live without him. She didn’t want to. Without him, she would have no reason to exist.

Jasper was brought out of his wicked thoughts when he felt Alice's arms around him, he took a deep breath feeling a wave of calm rush through him, Alice knew how to calm him she knew everything about him, she proceed to explain how she knew exactly what was going through his mind how he was feeling and what he was plotting. To be fair he had been a little stupid for thinking that he could mislead her thoughts, that she would not figure out what was going on in his head for her he was an open book. She spoke about loosing him, he knew she did not want to, but it seemed the only way for them to truly be free of the Volturi for good, "I'm sorry" he muttered quietly moving his hands so they were no longer fists and very gently turned his head to look at her, his wife, his worried and nervous wife. Jasper should be comforting her not worrying about himself and being selfish death was a selfish way out of life.
"I know you'll never leave me no matter what I do, I'm just scared if anything happens it will be my fault and I couldn't loose you to them because of my own stupid decisions. Carlisle works to hard to stop the Volturi from doing anything wrong I owe it to him to say yes to give him a break, but then if anything happens to you or Bella or Edward it would be because of me and I don't know if I could face that" Jasper spoke in a small voice he found it difficult to maintain eye contact with her as he spoke, he felt like he was betraying her trust by even considering to say yes, but with all the reprocussions that might happen at the moment saying yes seemed like the best answer,
If he said yes however he felt like he would not have Alice's full support and he needed that, without that he might as well give up now without her trust and full support he would not be able to do anything to help his family or Aro. He knew the ball was going to be difficult anyway with all the different covens, with it being set in the the Volturi camp as he called it, with all the guards and officials, not only that but there was also bound to be human blood to resist as well. The evening was just getting even more complicated for him and with out her support he knew he would not be able to survive the night, he needed Alice to guide him without her he really was lost. "I just don't know what to of Alie" he whispered again softly watching her beautiful face and sensing her calm and relaxed deminour trying to use it to relax himself.

The two held a bond like no one else could describe. She loved her husband with every fiber of her being and knew that there had to be a way out of it, but as long as they were together, then that was all that mattered. He was her rock, in the middle of all the chaos, he was everything she had ever hoped for. Looks weren’t everything but his personality and his love were more than enough for the young woman. She watched as he struggled with it, knowing it was difficult for him to appologize. “I know, I’m sorry too. I just—I love you so much and we can figure this out, somehow. I just don’t know what else to do....Jazz.” She said as she kept her arms around her husband as she needed to calm him down the way he was able to always calm her down. She sighed as she placed on of her hands on his face. She knew that what he was afraid of most was hurting his family, their family that they had worked too hard to protect for all of these years.
Looking into her husband’s loving eyes, she knew that everything was coming to a close, or so it felt like. She didn’t like it but that was what their lives seemed to be taking them. She was going to keep hope, because without hope there was nothing else. She knew that they had to do something but what? How could they fight against the Volturi, when their family was advocating for peace?
To be honest it terrified her. “It’s not your fault, Jazzy. You—cannot control the actions of others no matter how hard you try. It would take alot more than you think for me to just walk away from you and to join them. That is something I’d never do. That’s a death wish. With my power—with my gift, vampires everywhere would be in trouble, and I will not give that man that kind of power. I promise you, Jazz, you won’t lose anyone. I know that Carlisle did everything within his power to protect this family and now it’s up to us. We’ve got to ensure that everyone gets out of this ball alive—well as alive as any vampire can be. Now, I do not want you to do this—to be apart of it, but I support you no matter what you decide. Even if I don’t like it. It’s going to be a difficult evening for all of us. I love you, and that means everything. It means that no matter what I will be there—I will support you in this. Even if I am afraid of what might happen. But as long as we’re together, we’re going to be alright. Let’s just hope we won’t be walking into some kind of a trap.” She sighed. “As long as we are by eachother’s side, there is nothing that Aro or his guard can do to separate us. If we get separated even for a moment—they’ll use that against us. Do you understand? Honey, this is our shot. We’ve got to do this, and we can, as long as we’re together. I believe in you, and I know that we can handle whatever it is that we’re thrown into.” She said as she leaned in and kissed his lips softly. She just hoped her words were reassuring enough. She feared what the ball might bring, that if they were separated that Jasper might be right and it could lead to their undoing.

As Alice began to apologise to him Japer could feel her regret and sorrow, it was not her fault at all, if anything it was him just blowing everything out of proportion in his head he had a habit of thinking about things way to much, but this was different this was really important and something he did not want to mess up, he did not want to cause his family any more troubles. He liked having her arms around him, he felt safe here and could spend forever in her arms. As he tested Alice's emotions again all he could feel was love and hope, something that Alice was normally full of these sort of emotions which was another reason why he was sure he had leeched to her, her amazing positivity made his life so much more bearable.
Alice went on to speak about her support for him, she would stand with him no matter what decision he made and he knew he need this, reaching across he took her hand holding it tightly "I told you i'm not letting you out of my sight for a second and if you think I'm going to let go of your hand then you really must be mistaken" He smiled softly trying to lighten the situation between them, he was not going to let Aro take her from him she was his and Aro would have to find his own vampire who could predict the future. There was nothing he would not do for Alice, he loved her too much to let her go ever and if Aro was going to try and manipulate him then he would have another thing coming. "Well ... let's see what Carlisle has to say he will know what is best to do, I will tell him about it tonight, he knows the Volturi best and I'm sure he will be able to help us" Jasper felt a little bad pinning his hopes on Carlisle, his adopted father was important to him and he was one of the cleverest men that Jasper knew, his opinion on this matter and he would know exactly the best course of action that they could take.
"You are right, as long as we are together nothing can come between us it could not even get close." He stroked the side of her face slowly "We will get out of this ball alive and I won't let them drag me into the Volturi, I promise and if they do try I know you will drag me out and knock me back into shape, you wouldn't let me do anything stupid" It may have seemed like a joke to lighten the mood, but it was actually true because he liked to know that if he did some stupid decision then Alice would slap him across the face and drag him back home, he had done some stupid things and he knew he could do more stupid things but it was good to remember that Alice would not let him.

She loved her husband, and if he couldn’t feel that by now, he was as lost as she was. If anything got messed up, she would blame the Volturi, nto her husband. Because neither her or Jasper wanted to create more problems for their family than they already had. She liked being around Jasper, just having her arms around him felt comforting, like it was all but a dream, one she would never have to wake up from. She had faith in her husband that everything would turn out for the best, and had to be positive in that thought. Because she knew her husband tested her emotions often, just like she had tested his future. They did it to protect eachother.
Either way they were a perfect match, and it had made both their lives so much more bearable with the other in it. When he reached over and took a hold of her hand and held it tightly, she was happy. “I know you did, but we both know Aro. I’m not mistaken. But you’re going to have to concentrate and not worry about me at this party—it’s the only way you’re going to be able to keep control over your own emotions first and foremost. Because if you get distracted—that could lead to some issues themselve. I also think it’s probably best if we feed before we go to the ball—that way neither one of us will be hungry—due to well knowing Aro, he’ll probably have some humans there. We’ll both have to be on our guard that night.” She smiled in return as she was trying to think of ways to make this as smoothly as possible for both of them. She couldn’t help but feel the warmth between them even though both of their bodies were as cold as ice.
“I just hope Carlisle can help us. I want to be there when you tell him. He should know the Volturi best given he actually spent time with them, many years ago. Though I do feel a little bad that we’re relying on him to help us in this situation but you and I both know his oppinion counts on when it comes to something like this. But knowing Carlisle the way that I know him, he’ll most likely tell you to say yes to keep the peace, and if that is the case, then we’ll do it. But I’m not leaving you—I don’t care what Aro and the others say about it. You’re my husband and I’m not going to be leaving your side.” She reminded him as she felt him stroke her face slowly.
“I wouldn’t let it. Just like I wouldn’t let you get dragged in there—to be a member of the Volturi permanently. I’d grab you by the hair if I had to, and pull you out of there, beat you if I had to—to get you out of there—before you did something stupid, just like I know you’d do the same for me.” She replied to him, although he meant it to come out like a joke, she knew he was serious, and it was the honest truth. “I’m just hoping it doesn’t come to that.” She answered positively as she held his hand and kept the other arm tightly around her husband.

Jasper felt uncomfortable when she told him not to worry about her, he knew already that was impossible and as for focusing on his emotions and keeping them in check that was almost as difficult as asking him not to worry. If he was going to focus on the emotions of the room and keeping them positive and lighthearted then it would be hard to think of himself, but if the overall mood was positive then Jasper was sure that he could cope, but he doubted it would be that simple knowing the variety of covens that would be attending he was sure most would have some underlying resentment for the Volturi or for someone that would alter their mood and it was quelling these feelings that was difficult. Alice went on to talk about feeding before they went and he nodded again "Yeah I don't really want to relapse there of all places, but I've been working on it and I should be fine" The sentence did not sound as confident as he had hoped it would, he had a little faith in himself and if he was thinking about everything else he was sure that would keep his mind of the thirst or he hoped it would.
As she spoke about relaying on Carlisle, Jasper had to agree he felt bad for putting this decision on him and asking for his help, but in all honesty he Carlisle cared about them both or at least he liked to think so and he would be more upset if they hid the letter from him, besides as Alice pointed out he knew the Volturi best "You know what Esme and him are like I think the two of them would be more upset if we choose not to tell them and they found out for someone else, I feel bad for causing more trouble for them, but they seem to want to help They were their adopted parents after all and Carlisle was a lover of peace he would know the best solution and what he suggested Jasper knew he would do because Carlisle always knew what was best.
Now Jasper loved his wife dearly, but he had to admit at times the woman did scare him and as she talked about the extremely violent measures she would take if he joined the Volturi it made him feel slightly afraid, he knew he would not join willingly, but it was good to know that if he was accidentally manipulated into doing anything then she would come and get him. Jasper had a feeling she would not come alone Emmett would be there, as would Rosalie (and the Volturi were in for hell then), Edward and Bella would probably stand with them as would Carlisle and Esme, but if the violence that Alice had planned actually happened then they might start a war with the Volturi. He quickly expelled these thoughts from his mind he did not want this on his conscious. "You're beautiful you know, scary sometimes, but beautiful and I'm glad that you would come and get me if I did accidentally do something like that, but lets not even think of that" He squeezed her hand a little tighter "I love you Mary Alice Hale" he whispered, it was not often he used Hale instead of Cullen, but since they were married that was what it should be and if they did not have to keep up their cover story it probably would be that and Jasper just wanted to tease her a little bit.

She knew that asking him not to worry, was not going to happen, as Jasper worried about her alot—just like she worried about him. But she hoped he could focus on himself and his emotions—in order to make things a bit smoother if he was actually going to do what Aro had wanted him to do. She only hoped that when they arrived at the ball that it would be festive, and that there would be an overall positive mood throughout, because she knew that would make things so much easier on Jasper who would have to control every emotion of everyone who was at the ball and that was going to be hard—even for a vampire as talented as Jasper was with his gift. Nothing about it was simple but she was trying to keep him in a good mood about it—figuring that’d be the best thing for him. After all with as many covens attending the ball, many were sure to have issues toward the Volturi, her own family especially. She watched as her husband nodded to her suggestion about feeding before hand. “Of course not, my love. I know you’ve been working very hard to keep your lust for blood under control—especially around humans, and I know how difficult it is for you to do so. You just have to have a little faith that it’s all going to be alright. Being slightly distracted will help you not to think about it—about the thirst. At least we can both hope so.” She smiled as she leaned into her husband, loving every bit of this. Just being around him was soothing and it was almost like they were just a normal couple discussing their day as opposed to two vampires discussing a vampiric ball.
When it came to discussing whether or not to tell Carlisle about the letter, she didn’t feel like it would be fair if they didn’t. After all Carlisle was their father in almost every sense of the word—except by the biological factor. Hiding it from Esme, their mother in every way but biologically, it would be almost impossible. They deserved to know. “Esme wouldn’t be happy if we kept it from her, nor would Carlisle and they have every reason to be told about this. I can’t think of anybody else who would be more upset if we didn’t tell them. After all they have been our parents—for how long now? We both know that Carlisle and Esme would be even more upset if they found out about this through someone else. I know—you’re not the only one who hates to rely on them, especially Carlisle, but in this situation I don’t think we have any other choice. We need his oppinion. We both know he’d advocate for peace, but he’s always known the best solution when it comes to dealing with the Volturi—no matter the situation at hand.” She replied as she looked at her husband. She was very protective when it came to the members of her family.
She chuckled as she looked at her husband, knowing how much her few words had scared Jasper. She might bring the others of her family, though if they chose not to be involved she would do it herself. Though she couldn’t imagine Emmett, Rosalie, Edward or Bella avoiding something like that, especially when it was their brother who was in need of help. She couldn’t even imagine their parents not being involved. “Thanks, I think. Of course I’m scary...haven’t you figured that out by now? There is nothing I wouldn’t do—no matter the consequence if you were taken from me—what I would do to get you back. I know the others wouldn’t be too far behind. They’d help. I know they would. For one thing we all have a dislike for what Aro and the Volturi are capable of, but when it comes to them taking a member of our family, I can’t see the others lying down like dogs with their tail between their legs. That’s just not who they are. That’s not what our family is about. We don’t leave family behind. We never have.” She smiled softly when he squeezed her hand, and then said something she hadn’t heard in a while, him using his last name in place of the name she had chosen—Cullen, in order to keep up appearances. She knew he was teasing and she could tease him right back.
“And I love you too, Jasper Whitlock Hale. Although you know I prefer Alice, instead of Mary. And it’s nice to hear the sound of it, with Hale at the end like it should be, but we both know why I don’t have your last name as my own. Even if that's what I'd prefer. It wouldn’t fit the cover story—it’s also why Rosalie doesn’t share the same last name with her husband either.” She leaned in and kissed his lips. She would have taken his last name as her own—as most brides would but it would be too complicated given the cover story they have had to build for themselves.

Jasper nodded as Alice spoke exactly what he was thinking, he was quite sure that for this night he would be able to fight the thirst, he had added reasons for not caving in he would humiliate himself in front of the Volturi further if he did and he refused to let them get the better of him under any circumstances, especially since he was the one helping them out even if it was against his will slightly he wanted to do what was best for his family at the moment. Her points on Esme and Carlisle were also true, Jasper was sure that not telling them would cause more of an uproar and more pain than if they did tell hem, he was sure that the two of them would want to help in whatever way possible and if they could help just a little bit then Jasper would be grateful. His adopted parents really were the nicest people he had ever met and though his opinion was not entirely valid due to the horrible company he had once been in, he hoped they knew how much they meant to him even if at times he did feel on the outskirts and left out, he did love both of them very much.
As Alice began to talk about how she would do anything to come and get him he relaxed more and about how the rest of the family would join her, that would be a very interesting day for the Volturi and he would like to see how they would fare against them. With Bella's shield it rendered Alec and Jane's abilities almost useless, Alice and Edward would be able to second guess the physical attacks, Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle and Esme were rather good fighters as well. In addition to this if the Volturi did try to take him Jasper was reminded of all the other coven's who agreed to come back and join Carlisle if the Volturi threatened their way of life again. Alice spoke about not leaving anyone behind and this made him feel a lot happier "I guess it's good to know that a very brave Pixie would save me" He teased once again making light of the situation, but he did feel a lot happier knowing he had all of their support.
Jasper chuckled as she teased him he knew she disliked being called Mary, he only did it to tease her after all he did prefer Alice to Mary anyway, he understood the complications that they would have if they shared the same surname, but he wished one day they would be able to be known for being man and wife. It did annoy him when he saw other guys at the high schools they had been to flirt with her, he wished they knew that none of them stood a chance at that she really was all his, but this was just him being jealous and protective of her. As she kissed him he smiled again "My apologise Alice Cullen" He whispered to her "My beautiful Alice Cullen" He added smiling softly at her.

Of course it felt like time stood still, they were frozen in time—the same age they were when they were turned—changed. Of course they still appeared to be teenagers so they were quickly able to adapt to being students. She wasn’t an idiot by any means as she knew that this upcoming ball would put her family in a situation they really did not want to be in. But she knew that Jasper was trying to do what was best for their family, and that was hard enough. Taking an unnecessary breath, she kept her eyes on her husband for a few second before looking out into the scenery around them. She thought of Carlisle and Esme, her parents for all intents and purposes, adopted or otherwise, they were brilliant and loving. Esme had the biggest heart of anyone she had ever known, and Carlisle had enough knowledge—especially about the Volturi—to make discussing it with him all the more worthwhile.
She just hoped they wouldn’t be too upset when they discovered what Jasper intended to tell them. She never felt like an outsider—because Esme and Carlisle had always treated her like a daughter and had loved her unconditionally, like any parent would.
She could only imagine the chaos that would be involved if the Volturi attempted to take Jasper from them permanently. Because she knew for a fact that both she and Edward would be able to see what was coming—to second guess the physical attacks the Volturi would make against them, and add that to Bella’s shield—the Volturi would be nearly powerless. A fact she would enjoy. She also could consider the fact that Esme, Carlisle, Rosalie and Emmett were very good at their fighting skills—when they had no other choice but to use it. Carlisle wouldn’t fight unless he felt he had no other choice—when it came to the safety of his family he’d do it, because as any father would see it, his family came first. It was amusing to even think of the scenario that would play out, as not only would her family join her in the attack—to get her husband back, but so would all of the other covens who came to their side to help Carlisle last time. They had even agreed to return to help him should their way of life be once again threatened by the Volturi. All they would have to do was ask. She couldn’t help but smirk when she heard Jasper’s voice. “Oh did you honestly believe that I would leave you in their hands? That’s like asking for trouble.” She teased her husband back as she was enjoying their little teasing session. It was quite amusing, especially considering how long they’d been married.
She knew that he hadn’t said it to be serious, but to only tease her. She did not like her first name of Mary. It was why she used Alice while in school as she liked her middle name better. She also knew he preferred to call her Alice instead of Mary. As he had for many years. Sometimes she wished they could actually use the same surname, because it would be more fitting than to have two different last names but it wouldn’t fit the cover story they had all chosen. It worked easier to believe that Jasper was just a sibling as opposed to her husband. She wished that one day they could actually use the same surname, and be man and wife in public as opposed to behind closed doors at home. She knew it annoyed him when the other guys at school flirted with her-even though they’d never have a chance with her. She always liked to watch as Jasper got jealous and overly protective of her.
She belonged to Jasper—mind, body and soul. Even if it were that she was considered ‘soul-less’ given her vampiric state, but that was not the point. Hearing him whisper her name—would have given the woman chills if her body wasn’t as ice cold as it was by nature. She broke the kiss for only a second to smile at him before kissing him once more.

Jasper smiled as she continued to tease him, they always teased each other in small simple ways, little inside jokes that nobody else would be able to understand that was one of the many reasons that made their relationship different to everyone else's. "Well I was worried for a few seconds, but then I remembered you wouldn't last a day without me, nor I without you" He moved his head to get a better view of her, she was his soul mate and always would be, she would always be there for him and this was all he needed, he wished that he could keep her safe, that he could protect her lock her away in a box to stop people from ever going near her and prevent the volturi from laying a finger on her. Sadly he knew if he did that then she would not be happy and how could he survive without her beautiful smile brightening his day, she really did have him wrapped around her little finger he would do anything and everything to please her.
As they kissed Jasper could feel her emotions pouring out of her, positivity, joy and love they were so strong that it was difficult to ignore and though some days he hated his ability for the things it made him feel, he knew that he was also lucky. He could see her constant love and it was such a beautiful thing to feel, to know that there was this person that cared for you no matter what stupid decision you made and that would always stand by you. Despite all the pain and anger he had seen, feeling Alice love him could eradicate all these prior feelings in seconds and he would give up anything just to feel this emotion again. Jasper began to stroke her cheek feeling her soft silky skin against his rough finger tips, "You are so beautiful you know" He whispered quietly "My beautiful wife" Of course she knew this Jasper told her she was beautiful at least three times a day at a minimum, but he just felt the need to remind her and to compliment her and since he had run out of brand new compliments a century ago he had to recycle the old ones. Though Jasper was quite sure Alice did not mind this, everyone liked to be reminded how wonderful they were it was a human trait that everyone had, Jasper stopped stroking her cheek gently and continued to gaze into her eyes. He could loose him self in their golden glow, they were like magnets he just had to look at them and get lost looking into them, he had been gazing into them for hundreds of years now and he always saw something new he could never get bored of looking into them.

Their teasing was always in good fun, though sometimes people didn’t understand it. Why would they? It was sometimes little inside jokes that no one would understand except for her and her husband and that was priceless. It was what made their relationship so much more complex, and different than anyone else’s in their entire family. It was what made them special in her eyes. She grinned. “You know it, after all how long had you kept me waiting?” She winked at him, she loved him far more than anyone else could ever even begin to understand. He was everything to her, he was the one thing that kept her solid, grounded even. She would not be who she was without him. Yes she would have still been a vampire, with the gift of seeing, but that was only the exterior of who she was, on the inside, she would have been as lost and alone as she had been for her first few years of life as a newborn. She knew that he was something different, than most others. He was a true gentleman, and those were very hard to find, as they had ceased to exist due to manners being forgotten over the centuries. It was one of the things she loved about him.
She knew that Jasper was the overprotective one, he didn’t want to see her get hurt, and if she would have allowed it, she was sure he would have locked her away somewhere to protect her, to never let her out of his sight, and although she respected how he felt, she didn’t want that kind of life. The Volturi would come for her, until she had her last vision, when she finally perished. Jasper would know this better than most. She wouldn’t be happy not to go out and be who she was meant to be, to be around friends and family, and she knew that her smile came out more often around Jasper than it did around anyone else. She was a happy go lucky pixie, as some might point out, but there were times where she did worry far too much for her own good. She knew she had him wrapped around her little finger. Which was all the more fun for her, because he had her wrapped around his in return. She had done everything she could to make him happy. To make him smile.
She knew that because of Jasper’s ability, he could feel everything she was feeling. All of her positivity, joy and love directed right at him, which even he would have a hard time ignoring. She was lucky that she had Jasper by her side, because without him, she would have probably gone absolutely crazy. She had always stood by Jasper’s side since the two had met and she would until the time came and she no longer existed in this world.
When he whispered how beautiful she was, a smile lit up on her face. “Well my love, you are so handsome. I hope you know that. My gorgeous husband.” She said, loving him and she honestly meant it. Because she didn’t see the scars, the pain that was behind them. All she saw was a loving man, someone that had loved her for her, and for no other reason. “I love you, always and forever.” She told her husband, and although she was sure over the years even she had run out of the compliments that were the brand new—ones that he himself had never heard of. She knew that Jasper told her how beautiful she was at least three times a day, sometimes more, and she always felt the need to remind him of how handsome and perfect he was. They were eachother’s soulmates, no question about it. Neither one would be the same without the other in their lives. She did not mind the fact that Jasper told her often how beautiful she was, and how much he loved her, as everyone, vampire or not, needed to hear it from time to time. She could feel him stroking her cheek and she kept her eyes on his as she held him close to her. She had loved looking into his eyes, it was the thing that first attracted him to her, that and his smile. The more they had gotten to know eachother the more she had loved him, and had wanted him by her side, for as long as they had, whether it be weeks, months or years. Now it had been over a century and she was sure she wanted him for forever and for always. She was enjoying their time together and hoped it would never end.
