Marcus sat on his throne alone, he told the guards to excuse the room so that he could be alone. At first he sat there quietly since both his brothers went off to who knows where, or cares for that f t.He then grabbed a book and flipped threw the pages. He sighed quietly as he read the ancient tomes in his hands. It talked about the vampiric past and it’s history. He must be bored because he did not care for the subject.
He looked around and saw no one in the room. He always wanted to be alone but deep down he knew staying silent like this probably wasn’t right but it felt right. Marcus had to admit it was nice to not listen to Caius rant at Aro about something like normal. So He enjoyed the silence and alone time. Although he knows soon either Caius was going to burst in and yell about something or Aro was going to come in and read his thoughts again after a while he stopped protesting Aro reading his thoughts and started not to care.
After a few hours of this he stood up he went to the table full of open books that were half finished and set the book down. He looked around swearing he heard a noise but he could have heard things again. Happens when you have quite time after years of talking and little to no silence.

She had heard from other members of the guard that Master Marcus wanted to be alone. She knew that she should obey his wishes, he was one of the three Volturi leaders after all, but surely it wasn't healthy for him to be alone all the time! Especially when you were, well, Marcus. She couldn't help but feel bad for him, knowing what happened all those years ago. Poor Lady Didyme. She couldn't imagine how she'd feel if someone killed the love of her life like that...
Still, she was sure her lady would not want the one she loved to be as well, lifeless, as Master Marcus often was. So, since Master Aro did not need her at the moment she decided to go spend time with the often apathetic leader. She tried to be quiet when she opened the door, but she knew she had been unsuccessful when Marcus looked around, obviously having heard her. She entered quickly and closed the door behind her, giving him a tentative smile. "Good evening Master Marcus. Do you mind if I join you?" She asked softly walking forward slowly, like a child hoping for approval from a distant but favorite uncle. She hoped he wouldn't mind. He really ought to spend more time with his family, and they with him. That's what they were after all, a family, even if they sometimes did not act like it.

Marcus looked over at Renata slowly and sighed quietly, “Oh, it’s just you.” He was glad it was her, she was less sadistic then Jane or Alec and was certainly glad it wasn’t his brothers Caius or Aro, he just didn’t want to deal with them right now. He walked over to his throne and sat down in it in an almost bored fashion. Marcus looked over at Renata and motioned for her to sit in the chair next to him. He didn’t care which one she just looked like she needed to sit down and relax most of the guards probably did from how hard some of them worked.
He closed his eyes, “So what made you want to visit?” He opened his eyes again and looked over at her threw his milky red eyes. He wondered why she would come even though he told the guards he wanted to be alone. It was odd to see her around she is normally around the wives or around Aro. He’ll admit at least she was one of the more shy and quiet ones. He also knew that she thought of everyone as family, which was sweet.

Renata's smile widened and she nodded when the Volturi leader noticed her. "Yes, tis just me. How are you today Master Marcus? She inquired softly. She watched as he left the table filled with books to sit on his throne and strode forward when he motioned for her to join him, taking the seat beside him. She could not help the slightly nervous look that appeared on her face when Marcus asked why she wanted to visit him. She knew that as a member of the Volturi Guard she was supposed to obey the three leaders in all things, including when they expressly informed the guards that they wanted to be alone. She'd known it for over eight-hundred years now...So why did she disobey? What if he was angry with her?
She calmed herself, looking down at her hands which were clasped in her lap. It would be alright. After all, Master Marcus was seldom angry nowadays. Not like Master Caius or even Master Aro at times. He was a kinder man than most gave him credit for. Well, there was nothing for it but to tell the truth, she supposed. "I wanted to see you because...well, because I don't think you should be spending so much time by yourself! It's not right!" She declared passionately, before widening her eyes in horror at what she'd just said and bowing her head. "I-I'm so sorry Master Marcus! I don't know what came over me! I just- for so long you've been so unhappy with life. Please forgive me if this is too insolent, but I think of you as not only my master, but as my uncle and it pains me to see you so unhappy. So please, is there anything I can do..." She finished, biting her lip a little as she gazed back at the ancient vampire.

Marcus looked up at her and sighed, "the same as always Renata.” She seemed to always be trying to make everyone happier; which was odd for a guard these days. He felt bad for her and most of the guard they were all so young and had so much life left in them. Unlike him who seemed to be on the edge of death and lacked any energy or motivation. He never got passionate about something like his brothers anymore. Although he never was passionate about the Volturi matters but had the strange feeling to stay. Marcus watched as he saw Renata get nervous when he asked her about why she was there. He never intended to make her nervous it was just a simple question. Though he realized that she’s only nervous because of his power as a leader. All the guards were afraid of them, for good reasons, waiting to see how she respond.
He listened to her give her reason for being there and almost wanted to smile at it. Seeing her get passionate about it reminded him of the good days when he was younger and hearing Aro rant about the Romanians for the first time. Marcus frowned more when he see her start to apologize to him. "No, no need to apologize while my brothers are not around. You did not insult me so you are good.” He sighed relaxingly. "I just like to be alone sometimes. Having guards around me just to make sure I am not going to make any rational thoughts could get annoying. Though, it is nice to have company once in awhile. Marcus straightened his back a little and looked over at Renata.

She tried to stop herself from frowning when she heard his first answer. While she didn't honestly expect anything different, that did not make her any happier to here that he felt the same as he always did. It was just...unnatural, and it only made her more sure of the fact that he should not be spending so much time all by himself. She relaxed a bit when she heard him say he was not upset with her. Marcus was by far the most laid back of the three Volturi leaders, which would have made it even worse if she actually had upset him. She smiled brightly when he said it was nice to have company every once in a while.
"Master Marcus?" She began softly. "I was wondering...If it's not to painful, would you mind telling me more about Lady Didyme?" She asked, wanting to know more about the woman who had captured her uncle's heart. She had never known the woman. Unfortunately Didyme had been killed centuries before Renata was even born. It was still a mystery who had killed her master's wife, though she had heard the most horrible rumors... She shifted uneasily in her seat she looked back at her leader. Surely the rumors couldn't be true. Nothing but nonsense, she told herself firmly with a sharp nod. Master Aro would never...No, it was best to put the thought out of her mind altogether she decided, looking hopefully at Master Marcus.

Marcus looked at Renata frowning and hummed deeply for a second. “Do not frown little one. I might not be happy but at least I’m not feeling worse than usual.” He hoped that saying that would make her at least a slight bit happier. A young person like that who still has hopes in the world should be more happier. Then again being stuck in a place like this wouldn’t make many people happy. Renata seemed like the type to think of them as family which would make her content about staying with them; probably made Aro happy. Though he wondered if he got another guard to make her that way.
Marcus’ stopped all trains of thought and just stared forward when she asked him about Didyme. No one had ask or even mention her name in years maybe even decades. A flash of Didyme’s smiling face appeared in her face. Her smile brought joy to his heart, they had something that he could have with no other woman. He looked over slowly at Renata and spoke slowly. “She was a wonderful woman...young, happy, and knew how to make others happy even without her power. She loved a lot of people equally” He looked up at the ceiling, “She even wished she could have a kid...

Renata nodded slightly at Marcus' statement, trying to repress her unhappy feelings. He was right after all, at least he wasn't feeling worse that he normally was. Not that that was much of a comfort when he normally seemed to feel bored and uninterested in well, anything. She got a little worried when the Volturi leader seemed to freeze at the mention of his deceased wife, and was about to apologize for bringing her up when he started talking. She smiled slightly when Marcus talked about his dead mate. She sounded like a wonderful woman. "I wish I could have met her." She said wistfully. The idea of two vampires having children was of course, impossible, but part of her would have liked to see Marcus and Didyme's children running around the place. She really did not understand vampire biology, after all if a vampire could impregnate a human then why couldn't he impregnate another vampire? That was just not fair.
She ducked her head slightly and giggled a little when she pictured Marcus and Didyme's children running about the castle. "I would have liked to have seen that. She said with a smile on her face. "How did the two of you meet?" She asked curiously, wondering how he had met Master Aro and his little sister. It was so long ago she doubted any of the guard were around to remember.

Marcus nodded, he knew Didyme would have liked her. Especially when Renata thinks of everyone as family, it reminded him of her and how she always thought of that. Sometimes she would have even got mad at Caius or Aro for treating the guards badly when they didn’t do so good; especially Caius and how he treats them. ”She would have be delighted to met you..” He said in his usual low tone of voice still recapping all the amazing moments he had with her.
The sound of Renata giggling brought him out of his thoughts as he gazed in her direction slowly. She seemed to be enjoying a thought she was having. After she asked her question he just sat there, unlike most humans that forget things that were old he did not. He could remember the moment he met her perfectly in his head. “I was still a young vampire at the time and spent most of my time around Aro. After a few years of hearing about his life he brought his newly turned sister to meet me. She had already been with a few men but what we had was special...she did not have to use her power to make me happy...” Marcus paused and closed his eyes playing the memory back in his mind and waited to see what Renata thought of this.

Renata smiled as Marcus told her about his dead wife. It was so heartwarming to see how much he loved her, how much all the leaders loved their wives. Though she was sure that sometimes Aro and Caius' wives were upset that their husbands love for them led them to forbid them against leaving Volterra. Fortunately or unfortunately, Renata was seldom much help in keeping them there. She always felt so sorry for the wives, it was usually easy for them to convince her to let them out every now and then. She sighed softly to herself. Perhaps if Lady Didyme was still around things wouldn't be this way. The leaders had certainly become much more paranoid about their wives' safety since someone had murdered Master Marcus'. Not that she blamed them.
She watched Marcus as he closed his eyes, seeming to get lost in his own memories. "That's so sweet. What sort of things did you do together?" She asked leaning forward. She wanted to hear more about the woman she never got the chance to meet. Was she anything like her brother, Master Aro, or was she cut from a completely different cloth? She tried, but she really couldn't imagine the man in front of her with a female version of Master Aro. Just the thought of a female version of her other master made her giggle. She thought up the strangest things sometimes.

Marcus nodded at Renata and kept his head down low, thinking of all the things Didyme did with him. They did a lot in there time together, he couldn’t think of a bad moment they had with each other..besides her death. He was glad that Aro and Caius were there for him when Didyme died. Especially Aro, who seemed to be very concerned for his mental health. He knew that everyone didn’t want him to be so sad but he had no reason to be happy without her by his side. “Didyme was the type to always want to do things. We did stuff like hang out in parks at night gazing up at all the stars...I even named a star after her, the brightest star I could see....it reminded me of her smile.” His frown twitched to a smile for a second then went back into a frown.
He could still visualize her soft, smoothed hand caress his hand, calling him a big teddy bear for naming a star after her. He could also remember the time when he tried to cook dinner for her and then remembered when she was there that they did not need to eat human food and she still ate it, even if it meant ungracefully getting sick later on. “When I was younger and more foolish I cooked her human food even though we didn’t eat human food, she still did anyways.” It was another moment of him almost smiling, it felt....good to think of these things. It gave him a sense of joy he did not feel for a long time. "That's just few of the things we have done together." He said in a low voice.

Marcus normally seemed like he didn't care about anything at all, but it was moments like these that proved that assumption wrong. Clearly there had been a time when he was just as passionate as any man, especially when it came to his wife. She supposed that after Lady Didyme's death, other things just didn't seem as important anymore. She watched as he hung his head, no doubt thinking of his beloved, before he revealed that he had named a star after her many long years ago. That was so romantic! "Perhaps you could show it to me sometime?" She asked with a smile on her face, which only grew wider when she saw his own frown turn into a smile, if only for a moment.
She giggled slightly when Marcus said that he, apparently forgetting that vampires did not eat human food, cooked it for her and she ate it anyway. That sounded like the Didyme she had heard about. It must have tasted awful though! While she could appreciate the thought and effort, she did not envy her lady for having eaten it. "With all do respect Master Marcus, how did you forget that we did not eat human food?" She asked curiously, wondering what could have contributed to that little oversight when planning their meal. "If you don't mind my asking Master Marcus, what have you been doing lately? She asked, wondering what the most reclusive of the three Volturi leaders had been doing with his time. She had not seen much of him lately, except for during full gatherings of the coven, which were most often unpleasant businesses meaning someone had broken the Volturi laws.
