- - No one will ever find me
Those were Alyx's exact thoughts as she hid in the garage under Demetri's convertible. She hoped he was too focused on something else to notice or care about her wearabouts enough to process them. She'd been gone (hiding) for a few hours and she'd already read through several books which were now in her room, on her unused bed - or so she hoped. She sometimes had trouble making things go where she wanted them to go when they disappeared. She had only just learned 150 years ago that she could make the things she moved go out of her sight. Once she'd tried to put a glass cup on a table in Heidi s room and it landed on her head. In her defense she decided to stand in front of the mirror for way too long. She was just in the way.
Music began blasting from some part inside of the castle and Alyx's head jerked up to hit the bottom of the fancy car. If she were human, that would have really hurt. She laid her head back down and looked to see if she left a dent and in her good luck, she didn't. She didn't really feel like waxing everyone's cars again. She stayed away from Felix's mustang. She didn't fancy being chased by a huge guy around the castle. Actually, she didn't fancy the idea of being chased by anyone. Even chasing someone seemed like too much work. Forget the fact that she was in fact a bloody vampire and she could, indeed run forever and never run out of breath or have to stop except to hunt. If she really wanted to, she could do that, but she'd rather not. She had better things to do with her time, like laying under Demetri's red convertible and maybe tampering with the engine.
What to do. She thought. She could play a prank. Tell Santiago there is a pool in the gardens just for him than make him jump off the balcony blindfolded? Oh, she already did that to him. The hole in the back of the walls looks deeper everyday. She should teach Jane to gypsy dance. Some of the dances were worse than pole dancing. Aro wouldn't like that very much. Her brother Alec probably wouldn't like it either, since it was so provocative. It was curious how much less provocative dances were nowadays for non higher class people. Alyx froze as she heard the garage door open.

Complacency, Alec thought absently, was probably one of the biggest (and most exploitive) problems the people of Volterra faced. Even so, there was nothing more amusing than watching the people of the city take to the streets, livening it up with their mortal devices and their clueless laughter, even if most of them didn't believe in the festival anymore. The sheer amount of irony in celebrating the driving out of vampires in a city ruled by none other than never got old, even after all this time. In fact, it only got more amusing to him as time went by, watching the belief in vampires slowly dwindle to nothingness.
And yet these humans still celebrated it, like little drones. It was a celebration so ingrained into their history that they didn't even consider not doing it.
Of course, St. Marcus day had passed some months ago, but it was all that Alec could think about that day, even as he steadfastly avoided anything and everything that had to do with the Forever Young ball, as he usually did whenever it came around. From a surface perspective, he appeared as he usually did: blank face, straight posture; sometimes he even had a small, mocking smile tugging at the edges of his lips, or the strange teasing one he reserved for Jane which, although not kind, was as warm as anyone got from him.
No one saw the small flashes of agitation at the thought of being exposed to so many who could do them harm, if they so chose, nor did anyone see the dread hidden so carefully below the surface at the idea of having to control himself around them. He was bound to Aro by choice, though, without the effects of Chelsea's gift, and Aro would have his loyalty in this as he did in all other things Alec did.
He owed Aro his life. And in his millennia of existence, not once had he forgotten that, or wanted to forget that. He would follow Aro to the end.
Even if he hated balls.
He didn't sigh, but there was a spark of irritation in his eyes as Alec walked down the corridors of the castle, heading towards the garage. He didn't see the appeal in such vehicles--running and walking served him just fine--but many of the others were possessive of the odd little trinkets with the load engines, so recent an invention and yet already spread so globally.
Opening the door, Alec's eyes immediately zeroed in on the place where he knew the vampire Alyxander had stashed herself. He didn't know the reason, but he raised a patronising eyebrow in her direction all the same. He could smell her from here, the scent mingled in with the odour of exhaust and the repugnant oil that lay in tanks underneath coloured metal hoods.
His question was clear, though he did not speak it: What are you doing? ooc: i'll get better i promise ;n; i haven't really played him before

Alyx froze before she realized he knew she was there. Looking back at the boy with the annoyingly familiar raised eyebrow and accusing stare, she let out a mental groan. Deciding to ignore him for a while, she looked up at the bottom of the car. She wished she knew how to deal with cars, as she was banned from driving them by Caius. Everyone had refused to even teach her how to drive after they'd discovered that all three leaders had tried and failed to get her to succeed. After she'd managed to flip and blow up Aro's favorite car, Caius had made her fisher for 2 years and banned her from driving. He however, hadn't specified that she could be near the cars. She was sure he meant it in that long ten minute rant/yelling she had had, but Alyx needed specificness and that was something Caius had forgotten to say.
Alyx turned back to the shelves behind Alec and her eyes flashed and a wrench came zooming from behind Alec's head and over him to Alyx's hand. Still making it painfully obvious that she was ignoring him, she placed the wrench up against the bottom of the car. She realized she had no idea what to do with it. She quickly summoned a hammer and tossed the wrench to the side. Picking up the hammer from where it had fallen four inches to the left of her head and started moving it around the bottom of the car. She was contemplating. Demetri would kill her if she hurt his "baby" in any way, but Demetri wasn't that scary anyways. But he would tell Caius and Caius would ban her from the garage and therefore all the cars, which was one of the few places she could go when she was bored. Maybe she could convince Aro to grow a neverending maze in the gardens.
She struck.
Whoops! She thought as she noticed some oil leaking from the car. Some of it leaked down onto her white blouse. She sniffed it and threw her head back from the repulsive smell. Sliding out from under the car, she barely glanced at Alec . Alyx walked over to Heidi's cars where a small mirror hung on the wall. Noticing her hair was mess y she groaned. This bothered her immensely, since everyone in the Volturi was such a perfectionist in appearence. At this thought, she glanced at her blouse. It was ruined and she would have to throw it out.
She glanced back at Alec, bored with ignoring him. "What do you want?"

He knew when he was being ignored, and though he was sure Jane would have demanded the attention of the lesser Volturi member, in her own little diplomatic way, Alec was content to merely wander further into the garage, running one hand over the hood of Demetri's vehicle, chuckling inwardly. These machines, build to protect humans, meat, could be destroyed only too easily by someone of his kind. Even Alec himself, not a physically strong vampire, could do considerable damage. He almost smiled thinking about the damage Felix could do, should they... let him loose.
When the wrench flew from a shelf by his head, Alec didn't flinch, but the eyebrow stayed raised for a moment longer before lowering slowly. He suspected she was just trying to occupy herself with aimless tasks--to help continue the facade of her ignoring him--and so he allowed her to continue, until she actually stuck the car with the wrench. Instantly, the scent of oil became more obvious, and the Volturi elite wrinkled his nose at the smell, which was even more unappealing than it had been before.
"He'll be after you for that," Alec observed as the corners of his mouth curved into a small smile, though it was hard to tell whether it was from amusement or because he was mocking her. "They are fond of their meat machines." He inclined his head, wrinkling his nose again as the lesser Volturi slid out from under the car. Alec's eyes attached themselves to the black oil stain on her blouse almost immediately, and he had to resist the urge to hiss. It wasn't hard to resist it, true, but the fact that the urge had been there in the first place was enough to bother him.
"Nothing," he said simply, in answer to her question. "I was merely searching for my dear sister." A pause. "And, of course, there is the added bonus of getting away from the mad plans made by the others for this ball. I suppose it was only a matter of time, though."
He kept his eyes trained on her as she walked over to the mirror.
"And you? Why are you hiding here like meat hides from its predators?"

Alyx looked at him and shrugged. Demetri could come after her all he wanted. He'd never get near enough to her to attempt any harm. Without saying any words, and in an attempt to prove to him she could not care less, the hammer and wrench both lifted above the roof of the car and Alyx released her hold on them, letting them drop onto the car. "He'll already be angry. Feel free to destroy it, I'll take the blame." Alyx smirked and turned back to the mirror, wondering if Heidi had an extra shirt in one of her cars. Not waiting for Alec's reply, she had another hammer zoom quickly over to him. Alyx loved using her gift. It made everything a lot easier for her, but it annoyed many of the guard members because things would be zooming down the hall when they were walking down it. "Meat machines?
"Wonderful analogy, but my predators would happen to be all the women and Aro wanting me to help with decorations and music etc." Alyx smirked and imitated his earlier tone, "for this dreaded ball." Apparently her talents could come in as a huge help with decorating the Great Hall and Throne Room, which would be connected for the ball only. She'd probably be decorating the ceiling. She'd done that to her room. Just lied on the floor and lifted the brushes up and painted. The garage was the only place she was pretty sure they wouldn't look for her and Demetri was way too busy trying to break down a wall with Felix to stop and look for her.
The ball seemed to be the hot topic around the castle. And anywhere else Alyx could try to escape too, would be asking her questions about it. the best thing that could happen for her would be to get this stupid ball over with. It was just an excuse for Aro to show off the castle and his guard members. And to exert his power. Always showing his power over others.
Hopefully someone would create another failing newborn army and she could leave for most of the ball. She highly doubted this would happen and she cursed herself for thinking of such a thing. Aro would probably place her with that stupid newborn guard just for the laugh. "So..errr...how are you?" Alyx asked him awkwardly and she cursed herself afterwards. She didn't want to have a conversation with him anyways.

Eyes flickering to the wrench as it again zoomed passed his eye, Alec settled for showing his faint irritation in nothing but the tight draw of his mouth. Again, he cast a patronising eye on the metal beast, still unsure as to why many of the vampires saw fit to collect them when running served them far better, getting them places faster and without the added hassle of worrying about the various obstacles, or other beasts.
After all, if one of them crashed, and it was a satisfying one, it would be hard to explain why there wasn't even the faintest trace of blood in the wreckage. Alec smirked then. Perhaps they would just have to be more careful...
"No," the Volturi said, though he could not deny the way his insides had curled pleasantly at the thought of destroying something even semi-dear to something. He had a fondness for Demetri, as he did for anyone whose gift proved useful to Aro, but he could not deny his equal love for destruction. It was always so much better when he could see something fall apart in front of his very eyes, too. Placing one hand--small, almost insignificant-looking against the stark colour, though nothing about Alec could ever be considered truly insignificant--on the hood of the car, Alec along himself the small pleasure of creating a scratch, a marking, marring the sleekness of the vehicle. Trailing his hand across the hood, he watched in rapt glee as an obvious mark was left behind before he daintily plucked his hand from the machine, turning back to face Alyxander.
"Yes," he said in response to her first question. "They transport our prey around, do they not? And when they crash and buckle, what better cage is there?" A laugh followed this statement, and Alec lifted his eyes to meet hers, the colour of his irises a dark shade of red. He would have to feed soon, for they would rapidly fade to black if he was not careful, but he couldn't find it within himself to care at that particular moment.
He clicked his tongue in absent sympathy as she starkly outlined what Aro wanted to use her gift for, a small smirk pulling at his lips as he thought about it. "Unfortunate. Almost as unfortunate as the particular creatures we will be welcoming into our midst that night." He closed his eyes, tilting his head back, nostrils flaring as if he could already smell and taste the disgusting scent of the "vegetarian" vampires, the Cullens and their allies. He had no real quarrel against them, but their way of life sickened him far more than he cared to think about.
Alyxander's next question brought him away from his stormy musings, however, and he was quick to refocus his attention, bequeathing her a small, amused smile. The urge to chuckle at such a question was there, but he kept it in with ease, instead tilting his head to the side as he thought of an answer.
"I am as I always am," he settled on at last. The awkwardness in her statement sent a little thrill through his body, one he often experienced when people didn't know what to say around him. He never got tired of it. "I will ask you the same question after Demetri tracks you down like he tracks the fallen Romanians." Alec's smile was far more sinister this time, and there was a gleeful spark in his eyes as he thought of their long-time enemies, reduced to little more than fleeing refugees; never safe, knowing all the while that they only lived because their pitiful lives were beneath the strength of the Volturi.
And their fall, their final fall, was all thanks to him and Jane.
He couldn't help but feel a bit of pride at the thought.
Alec laughed. "But perhaps I will ask it now, instead. How are you, Alyxander Syeira? You seem well to me."

"I am well as always Alec. Not much changes in these walls." She told him. "Or do you mean am I better then I have been since our last mission, because then the answer would be yes." Renata had helped her calm from her anger and Alyx was feeling better. But the talk of the ball was beginning to drive her insane. All of the covens coming and the dangers this could pose to the people of the city as well as the inside of the Volturi were at the top of her mind whenever she had a pausing second. She needed an escape for a while, but she knew it would be a long time before she got one. She had made sure she would be working the ball instead of being forced to 'chat' with some of the covens or nomads wanting to know how her gift worked on some information on the Volturi or the brothers. It would of course never work, and she would walk away but she always ended up being reprimanded later on. And that was embarrassing at it's worst.
"Must you always use my full name Alec? You remind me of my father." Not that she much knew her father. After being officially named Alyxander, her mother had been disgusted and requested she was always called Alyx. "it's more feminine." She had claimed. So Alyx as a child (from what she could remember) always imagined only her father would have called her Alyxander since he had had the gull to name her as such when he knew she would be raised with a gypsy background in a world of mostly women. "I don't call you....what is your full name?"
Alyx chuckled and approached Alec. Tapping him lightly on his cheek, she whispered, "We are meant to destroy Alec. It's in our nature." She grabbed his hand and wrapped it around a wrench. Dancing away from him she moved over to the car. In a childish teasing voice she smirked. "You know you want to." She took the first swing, not waiting for a reply. She bashed the window of the passenger door in and reached into the car, opening it from the inside. She sat inside and pushed the hammer through the roof of the car and moving it through the metal, making a straight line in the roof from the front of the car, to the backseat. She moved out of the car and leaned on the top of it, looking over at Alec. The car door was still open and she waited. "Your move pretty boy." She told him, wondering if he would make a move. okay so that is extremely short and i hate the end but I'll make it up to you.

Alec's smile seemed benign when it appeared, but there was a deliberate mocking edge to it--one that seemed ever-present in his demeanour. It just wasn't very him to smile in genuine kindness, after all, and the very idea of bestowing a smile like that on someone was enough to make his stomach curl in something very, very close to disgust, almost rivalling the disdain he felt for the Forever Young ball that Aro was holding. It wasn't that he didn't see the ball's point, of course--Alec had no trouble readily admitting to himself that it was a good idea in that it could bring in a flood of new members for their guard--but even so the idea that he would have to stand among hated rivals was enough to send a streak of displeasure running through his body.
But he wouldn't show it externally. After all, he was known for being the one with more self-control than his sister; the one that was far more likely to make a teasing, subtle remark as opposed to just using his ability at every opportunity. No, that was Jane's forte, and his sister always had been more impulsive and hot-tempered, albeit in a serene, childish way that put many people on edge.
It was always amazing to him how much Jane could conceal and get away with under the guise of an innocent girl. Alec wasn't as fortunate--or unfortunate, depending on opinion. Alec looked older than her, and his expressions often reinforced that opinion of him. They were both beautiful, twins though they were, but she had the innocence, or at least the appearance of it; the serenity, and the easy deception that came with it.
This time, when Alec's hand fell upon the mundane metal framework of the vehicle, there were distinctive dents left behind in the conspicuous shape of his fingertips. How sad.
"How fortunate," Alec said, infusing his voice with mirth as his mind drifted, briefly, to thoughts of the last mission they had been on together. Her question about his name caused him to raise an eyebrow, the motion delicate on his smooth, unmarred face. "I never had a last name. I took my middle name for my father when the master said we had to choose one." He sighed, the action speaking of irritation. "For the human documents. I regret it, of course." His fingers curled further against the hood of car, and the expression on his face morphed back to the smirk from before. "My father was a weak-minded fool. Frightened of his own children; unable to stand against the fears of others." His hand left a deeper imprint this time as the metal bent obediently under his more superior strength, but he quickly removed his hand in surprise when she approached him, actually daring to touch him, an action that left him more stunned than he had felt in a long time.
Alec and his beloved twin had been with the Volturi a long time--over a thousand years, in fact--and never, not once, in his entire vampiric life, had someone besides Jane touched him so blatantly. Not even the master dared. So it was little wonder that he could do no more than stare blankly at her for a moment, letting the cool metal of the wrench slip into his palm, his fingers curling obediently around it when as she let go of his hand, touching him for the second time in the span of less than five seconds. Mutely, he watched her through narrowing eyes as she smashed and destroyed the car, and his eyes only narrowed further when the words pretty boy escaped her mouth.
He wanted to tell her that more powerful vampires had been killed for addressing him as such, but instead of voicing that--he knew she wouldn't care--he instead placed the wrench back on the hood of the car with deceptive delicacy before he removed his eyes from her, walking calmly over to the car door, his eyes narrowing on the weakened joints of the metal.
He then slowly, never losing that edge of deliberate control, placed his hands on the side of the door and pried in from the rest of the metal frame, listening to the screeching of the metal without flinching before letting it fall of the garage floor with a loud clang.
It was then he looked up, a smirk of pleasure curling around his face, his eyes sparking with the beginnings of the vampire equivalent of adrenaline.
He called it excitement.
"I do believe it's yours," he told her, and this time the calmness around him seemed to be almost menacing. This was the kind of thing that Alec was known for, for while Jane was often merciless in her use of her ability, it was Alec who had the greater lust for what he deigned to be thrills; it was Alec who, at the end of the day, could stare at someone blankly as he slowly cut off their senses, watching calmly as their eyes went blank, while Jane would smile that sadistic smile of hers. It was Alec who possessed that quiet confidence about him, and that, coupled with his equal readiness to kill and maim and torture, was what made him more dangerous than Jane in ways people did not expect.
And the callousness with which he started to rip parts off the car, the calculating way in which he went about it, only served to highlight this.
"Human tools are so very mundane," he mused absently, finally meeting her eyes as his hand curled around one of the mirrors, the glass shattering under his grip. His eyes were dark, and whether it was due to pleasure or hunger--or perhaps both--was unable to be determined. "Don't you think, Alyx?" ooc; it's okay! it seemed fine to me c:
