Red eyes stared out of the window and her hands stretched out to touch the sky through the window, long flowing sleeves falling down her arms as she stretched into the sun. Her skin glittered like diamonds in the sunlight, the light shattering and dancing across the room. If Corin had been here, there would be a reprimand against the way she was indulging. However, currently, she was so alone, left with her art supplies and the expanse of her room.
She sucked in an unnecessary breath, just wanting to tasting the air on the back of her tongue, her eyes closing as the sun drifted over her skin, turning her into a glorious glittering sculpture. The sun felt warm as she stood there, enjoying the brief seconds she got before another cloud hid the light away from her again. That was the time when her bird decided to sing, to warble its soft sad little song to her.
She stared, eyes wide at the little yellow canary, as a feeling of sadness fell over her as she walked over to it. It sang ever so softly at her, and she felt the urge to let it free.. Like all the others she had before. However, a sudden feeling of rage, something she hadn't experienced in a long time welled up inside of her and she lashed out at the cage watching in slow motion as it slammed hard against the stone wall, the bird inside silenced as it lay stunned.
Then, as suddenly as it came, it was gone and she was bending over the frail little being, removing it from its cage, her eyes soft and so very sad. Then, she stood, it cradled in her hand as it started to stir. She approached the window with it clutched close to her breast, opening the window slightly and slipping her thin hand out, with the bird in her palm. Soon it awakened and left her palm, disappearing into the world beyond.
She then closed the window once again and set the cage back up, frowning at the significant dent in its side. Caius would not be pleased with this. Athenodora sighed and slipped into a different dress, out of boredom, this one soft white with light green embroidery on the edges. Then she stood before the mirror and brushed her long hair, smiling slightly to herself as she heard familiar footsteps traversing the stairs. Right on time, and not a minute too soon...
