August, 2060. Spain. The annual Tomato Fight was about to occur.
The plane was about to land after hours flying from Alaska to Spain. Eleazar hoped to get out of the plane as soon as possible because the sweet smell of human blood started to attract him terribly. He had had to hold his breath all the way to Spain so a not to lose his control and cause a mass murder. It was a good thing that he had booked first-class seats so there were only about twenty people in quite a comfortable space and the smell of blood was not too strong; otherwise, he would have done something ugly. If it ever happened, it would be an inspiration for an epic novel about mysterious deaths; and also it would be the cause of a vampire’s epic death. Of course, he never looked forward to it. Eleazar let out a sigh as he wondered why he had not thought of hiring a private jet so as to prevent accidents from happening. Next time, definitely.
His thirst was eased as he looked out the windows. Eleazar could not help but smile happily when he saw Spain hiding underneath the thick grey clouds. If his heart could beat again, it would have jumped out of his chest already. It felt so good to be home. The son who was away from home for so long was back, at last. Needless to say how much he had missed it when he was away. So many years had past. There was not a day going by that he was not looking forward to coming back to Spain. People said home is where the heart is. The vampire turned to his left and a beautiful, flawless face caught his eyes. Gently, he squeezed her hand and looked into her eyes lovingly. Darling, look! We’re home. He said, pointing at the view outside the window excitedly like a child. Spain had a special place in his heart. It reminded him of who he was; what he lived for and…it was also the home of his lovely wife – Carmen. Life was full of surprises. He remembered being attracted by her accent when he first landed his eyes on her. He remembered standing like a dickhead when seeing her for the first time. And then came curiosity, the brief conversations, some secret dates and finally love. She was the one who had opened his eyes to the beautiful world around him which he had never realized until she came. He was who he was now because of her. He had become better because of her. His world revolved around her. He was grateful that she had came into his life, never left his side and was always there for him whenever he needed. She went through every up and down with him. Looking at her smile made his day. Her love gave him strength to endure this difficult life. He could not imagine his life without her. Carmen was his first love and also the final one, his life, his soul, his everything. Eleazar had arranged this trip to Spain as a gift to his wife. No information about the trip had been revealed to her before they got to the airplane with two tickets in his hands. He had had to try so hard not to reveal it to her until the last minute so as to surprise her. And he was glad he had managed to keep his lips shield perfectly. Normally, Carmen would know what he was thinking without being a mind-reader, simply because she was his wife after all; but fortunately, this time, she had not noticed anything unusual about him. Both of them were away from their fatherland for so long. Alaska was their home now and the Denali's were their family. Nevertheless, Spain was still something special to both of them. Furthermore, the trip would give him time to spend with her.
The procedures had taken quite a while before they could get out of the airport. Eleazar looked up the grey sky and smiled satisfactorily. He had had to watch the weather forecast very carefully before choosing the day to start the trip. A small ray of sunshine would ruin everything. Luck smiled at them. Taking an unneeded breath, he filled his lungs with the fresh air of the homeland. He had missed it so much. Spain had changed so much after his last visit. Everything was modernized and much more convenient. Nevertheless, something ancient and old was still there like it had never been lost. Okay, our vacation officially begins. He announced formally yet there was a playful glint in his eyes. He quickly placed a soft, loving kiss on her lips. As soon as he pulled away, a mischievous smile grew on his lips. He wrapped his arm around his wife then said. Let’s go home first before we know what we’ll do next. And, in case you wonder which home I am talking about, mi amor, I bought a small, cozy house out side Valencia for us. He grinned as he revealed to Carmen the small detail he had kept back so as to surprise her again. He remained quiet, trying to suppress another smile while waiting for her reaction to the truth that he had bought a house without talking to her first. When Eleazar had told her that they would be taking a little trip just the two of them...she was very excited as it had been a while since they had been on a special trip like this. But she had no idea where he had planned to take her. That was the part that made her slightly nervous. Not that she did not trust her husband as she loved him with everything that she was. Once they had arrived at the airport in Alaska, she had held his hand, trying to be of comfort to him. She knew how difficult it was to be around humans sometimes...especially in such close proximity to them in a very confined space that an airplane could be.
It had been hours that they had been confined in such a small space that even she was ready to be free of it. She had smelt the sweet blood that humans had that was attracting her to it. But she kept her attention on her husband otherwise she would never have been able to make it through the entire flight without wanting to create chaos...which would have resulted in mass murder. She was normally a very compassionate vampire, and didn’t have it in her to hurt anyone, but in a tightly enclosed space...and the attractive scent of the blood, it was difficult. She would be a fool if she didn’t notice it.
That was not the point though, she knew as well as any vampire did, that if she were to commit such an act, the Volturi would kill her. Kill anyone involved. And she did not want to be apart of that, or cause the deaths of innocent people. The one good thing about her husband was from the second they boarded the plane, that they were led directly to first class which had about eighteen to twenty other souls inside. Less risk that way if they did in fact lose themselves, not that she would let that happen.
The smell of the blood was not overwhelmingly strong as it would have been in any other part of the plane. She knew her husband, he would have done something ugly, as would she, and the two of them would probably be the inspiration for an epic novel about mysterious deaths aboard a plane., and it would be an epic death for the two of them. That was something she like her husband would not look forward to.
But that was not what she needed to think about at that given moment. Her husband had taken the window seat, and so she was next to him in the middle. The seat next to her had surprisingly been empty, which was a good thing. She hoped next time they flew they wouldn’t be surrounded by as many humans. She had no idea where they were going. It had been a complete and total surprise. She took a look at her husband and had seen him smile happily which he only did whenever he was around her, and around something that truly interested him. The vampire was curious of course as she tried to look out of the window but Eleazar had always told her to be patient that she would know soon enough where they were going. Soon enough they were told it was time to land.
She smiled as her husband squeezed her hand. The look that she had given him was just as loving as his was. “We’re home! I don’t...believe it. How....long has it been since we’ve been back here?” She asked, it was easy to tell how excited she was. Life truly was full of surprises. She could recall the very first time she caught his scent, it was attractive to her, but even more attractive was the accent in which he had. It was quite interesting how easy it was to talk to him. Even if at first she had been rather curious and how handsome he had been. They had had a few secret dates,a nd soon it blossomed into something she never saw coming. Love, which now she was able to be completely grateful for. He gave her something that she never thought was possible. Someone to talk to, someone to love with her whole heart, even if it was an unbeating one. He made the world seem better with just a simple comment, with one of his smiles. She had fallen for him. There was no doubt about it. She had never once regretted being in his life, as she would not be who she was without him. Her whole world revolved around him and the love the two had shared. Even with all the ups and downs the two had shared, it was all worth it in the end. Because they were the other half the other had been searching for.
Eleazar had been the only love she could ever remember having, and he was it for her. He was her life, her soulmate, her husband. The truth was, looking at him made her see that life was worth living. And to this day she could not imagine her life without him in it. She would surely die without him. Eleazar usually had to try very hard to surprise her as she could easily read him when he was up to something. This time of course had been something different honestly. This trip was something they both desperately needed.
Home is where the heart is, that was something she had often been told growing up. Alaska was their home now, because the Denali’s...their sisters and brother were there. But it was not the same as Spain. Not really. She had been away from the country in which she was born a very long time. She was relieved when they finally were able to grab their luggage and leave the airport. Spain held a special place in her heart, something that no other country could have given her. It gave her a place to call home.
The one thing about them being what they were, they could not enjoy the sunlight like a normal couple could. Which was fine, as they were both used tot he night by now anyway. Luck seemed to be smiling down on them. Taking a deep unneeded breath, she looked at her husband. Once outside, it was easy to take in everything. All the sights and sounds....and the fresh air of her homeland. She had missed it so much. Everything had been different. It was the same but more modernized. Which meant it was much more convenient. Still, there was some reminence of the past. Of what was ancient and old about the country still remains. Like it had never been lost at all.
“Yes it does, and I cannot wait.” She smiled, listening to him formally announce that they were officially on vacation. When he quickly placed a soft, loving kiss on her lips, she kissed him back passionately before he pulled away. She noticed his mischevious smile which of course meant he had done something without telling her. Again. But when his arms were wrapped around her, she grinned. Before she had a chance to ask where she was being taken, she learned it. She looked at him, for once in their marriage, she was completely caught off guard. “Go home? Wait you bought a house without telling me? You little sneak. But I love you for it.” She grins as she took a deep unneeded breath as she kissed him. “Let’s go, before the sun decides it wants to come out to play.” She winked at him as he would know what that meant.

August, 2060. Spain. The annual Tomato Fight was about to occur.
Carmen was right. Both of them had been away from home for too long. Spain was his homeland and it was always in his heart no matter where he was. And he finally got a chance to return to his fatherland. Nothing felt better than returning home after such a long time. Spain was also a very special place to him because it was where he had met Carmen for the first time. At that time, he was still a guard in the Volturi and she was a nomad vampire. They had been completely different and no one could believe they would be together someday. Eleazar remembered the first time he had landed his eyes on her. It was like being hit right on the head by a lightning bolt. There was something so attractive about her that he had not been able to take his eyes off her. Maybe it was her purity. Her eyes reflected nothing but good intentions. The way she spoke to people was so gentle. She was like…an angel, despite having no soul. Everything about her was so good, so pure; unlike him. Although he had always wanted a compassionate life, he had decided to live a completely different lifestyle, which was so cold, cruel and calculating. When he found out that he had fallen for her, he had been extremely confused, afraid and ashamed. He had thought that he did not deserve her – an angel with a perfectly good heart. He was literally a monster. He could not remember how many lives he had taken so as to satisfy his disgusting demand – blood. Every night, the ghosts from the past – the people that had died in his hand – had come back to laugh at him; they had felt so pity for him – a monster that always had to fear the light and hide in the shadows, never dared to walk with his head held high. Eleazar had felt the same about himself and there had been nothing he could do besides struggling with the guilt, the heaviness on his heart. He had wanted a compassionate life but why had he kept on staying with the Volturi? Probably, it was because he had been afraid of the loneliness. To him, the worst thing on Earth was not death, but having to live alone. He had been afraid of being left alone in this wide world. And Carmen had come into his life, opened another door for him. He had finally figured out what he had to do, which should have been done years earlier – leaving the Volturi. Unlike many he had met, Carmen did not judge him, did not care about his past, the terrible things he had done to human beings. All she cared about was who he was – a good Spanish man with a compassionate heart. Eleazar loved that about her. And he was grateful to his wife for that. Eleazar had become better all because of her.
The scenery struck him immediately when they arrived. Spain did not bear any resemblance to Alaska – his current home – at all. Spain was noisier, more crowded and of course, warmer. The Denali’s came to his mind when he thought of Alaska. It was kind of strange to be away from them. He was quite used to seeing each of his family member everyday so he could not help but feel a little odd to see that he was surrounded by all strangers. Tanya, Kate and Garrett were important people in his life. They completed his life, gave him a chance to have a true family who actually cared and loved each other. His biological family was a disaster due to the fact that his parents had been the leaders of a bandit group. It was a good thing that he did not inherit anything from them, including their cruelty and coldness. The Volturi had not been his family either because the relationship between them and him was only tightened by business. They took care of each other for benefits. Only the Denali’s, who did not care about who he had once been, truly considered him and Carmen their family. He finally had a wonderful big sister to look up to, a crazy little sister (although she was actually a lot older than him) to teas everyday, a little brother who backed him up every time the ladies ganged up on him and his stupid video games. Eleazar loved that warmth he felt when being around them. He was proud to be a member of the Denali’s. Life could change but that was the fact that would never change. After returning from this trip, he would have to bring the whole family to Spain once, so as to show them the breathtaking beauty of his country.
Eleazar smiled at Carmen’s excitement. I’m sorry for having paid too much attention to my stupid Xbox games. You must have hated me so much when I sometimes chose it over you, my love. I was pretty childish, wasn’t I? But I’m yours from now on. He said in a soft tone. He truly hoped that he would be able to make up for the lost time that he had spend on his video games instead of being with his wife. He was well aware that Carmen loved this country as much as he did. They loved the dust in the wind, the sand under their feet, the wind blowing against their faces and the people passing them on the street. Eleazar grinned as he noticed some curious passengers keeping staring at him and his wife continuously. The reason was simple: they were vampires so they had to attractive to seduce their preys into their traps so as to suck their blood more easily. He was quite pissed off as some men at the airport did not want to take their eyes off his wife. That had made him hold onto her hip more tightly so as to remind those impolite men that she was his. He was amused to see the kiss successfully anger the sources of those impolite stares. While he was still enjoying the triumph, the soft voice of his wife pulled him back to the reality. Carmen was quite shocked as he revealed that he had bought a house in Spain without talking to her first. Much to his surprise, she was not angry at all; in fact, she seemed to enjoy the surprise, whih made him very happy. Mi amor, you’re going to love that place! I had it decorated just like our home in Alaska! We should bring the whole family there when we have time. He said in excitement. Eleazar returned the kiss of hers before calling a cab for the two of them. She was right. They should leave before the sun felt like playing with them. The reason why I chose to buy a house outside of Valencia is that it will be easier for us to join the most wonderful festival in the year – La Tomanita. A cheesy grin grew on his face. I’ve been looking forward to the festival all year! Let’s see which of us will be pelted with more tomatoes.

It had felt like an eternity since the two of them had been home. This was where she had grown up. This was where she was born. And the best thing of all, was this was where she had met Eleazar. It was her homeland. It was where she had belonged for many years. Now her place was to be beside her husband and wherever he wanted to go. If anyone would have told her that Eleazar would turn out to be the man she would marry, and be mates with, she would have laughed it off. Because of how different the two of them were. She was the light, while he was the dark. She could remember vividly how Eleazar had been working for the Volturi and how she had respected them but did not trust them.
At the time the two of them had met she was but a simple nomad, travelling from place to place. With not a care in the world. She could remember everything about their first meeting, how if her heart had been able to beat, it would have beat right out of her chest. They were as different as fire and ice, but yet through their brief conversations, something had been sparked between them. The first time she laid eyes on him, she knew he was perfectly good on the inside. She could just read that in him. It hadn’t mattered the awful things that he had done in the past, all that had mattered was how he was at that moment, in front of her. She, as much as she had expected to look away from him, she could not.
He was too handsome not to look at. In a matter of speaking, it was as though the breath had been taken right out of her. She had always been a good intentioned person even before she had been turned, and so it came natural to be gentle to all those around her. Eleazar was the bad boy, the type that her parents had often warned her about while they were still alive. But it hadn’t mattered as a spark had been there, to connect them and all she wanted to do was know more. To know more about him. Of course being a vampire one would understand that the natural leanings were to kill humans and consume their blood. She had tried her best to resist that as hard as it sometimes was. As a nomad she had never had one specific place to call home. She travelled too much to really set up a simple home, and to truly decorate it the way that most women decorated their simple homes. She had lived the compassionate life, to help people not hurt them. It hadn’t mattered when she had met Eleazar, what he had done, and what he could do, all that mattered was that when she was with him, she felt more like herself than she had ever felt without him. It was knowing that even in the midst of the chaos, of knowing the ghosts of his past, that she could not walk away now. She did not pity the man in front of her, no. He did not need her pity. He needed her love and support and after a while she had been willing to give him that, and so much more.
When she knew that he worked with the Volturi, it hadn’t mattered. She did not like them, though she respected their rules. She had been alone for quite some time before meeting Eleazar and something had told her that first day, that she would never be alone again. She hadn’t believed it then, of course since she was highly stubborn. It had taken some time for her to open herself up to the possibility of the two of them actually being together. For better or worse, she would stick by him. Their relationship seemed to improve a lot more when he had the courage to walk away from the Volturi and the awful things they stood for. Though she did not judge him. He was a good spanish man, and that he had a compassionate heart. They bonded so well after that, it was almost impossible to determine if it was then that she realized wholeheartedly that she loved him.
The truth of the matter was, Spain did not have the kind of atmosphere that Alaska had. Alaska was their home now, albeit it was a different environment compared to Spain’s crowds, and the noise, and the festivities. She could not remember a time where they had been apart from their brother and the two remaining sisters. She had been quite used to seeing them every day, often for hours at a time, that it was strange to be in a city, in a country where they were not. Tanya, Kate and Garrett were each beautiful people in their own way. Tanya was the true leader of their family, being the eldest. Then came Kate with her strong will and insane possibilities, and last but not least their brother Garrett, who was quite the mysterious one. The five of them were able to live together in relative peace, and gave her and Eleazar a completed family atmosphere. It was not the same after Irina had died, but it had gotten a little better. They were a truly loving family, as anyone from the outside could see it. Her own biological family had not been as bad as her husband’s but they had been needless to say not as close knit to her as the Denali sisters had become.
There was very little that she regretted in her time with them. It was the closest thing to a family that she had had since being turned. She was a proud wife, and sister tothe Denali’s. They were her family now. And she would do anything for them. Life might change things, shake things up a bit, but that would never change. There was always a light, a warmth when she was around her sisters and even her brother that she could not understand. She knew she would love to have Kate and Tanya here to do shopping with, as they would love it as much as they loved shopping near their home. She knew Tanya and Kate would love Spain as much as she and Eleazar did, and so would Garrett. It was a whole new world here. She was very excited to be back where it had all started for them.
“As well you should be. Sorry that is. I’ll never understand your facination with those things. But, sweetheart, there is nothing you could do, or say that would make me hate you. Even if you chose it over me...I might not like it but I could never hate you. You’re my love. And yes, you’re childish...something that you’ve shown me since you and Garrett started playing with those bloody things.” She grinned. “Good, never forget that.” She said as she placed a kiss upon his lips and kept her arms wrapped around him. She felt quite content to be honest to be with him right then. It wouldn’t have mattered where they were. She had loved the dust in the wind, the sand under her feet, and even the way the wind blowed against her face. Even the people passing them on the street made her grin. She couldn’t help but grin when the people around them stared at her and her husband, as she looked at her husband and stayed close by him. She knew why she was so attractive, because it was the best way to seduce their prey, if humans were their prey. It was easy to get them into traps, as Eleazar had often pointed out, and it was at that point their blood would become available to them for consumption. Though that was not what she had wanted to think about as she was by her husband’s side. It was quite remarkable how the stares were, even in her own homeland. Men were staring at her, as though undressing her with their minds. She was quite amused when her husband held onto her hip more tightly as to remind those men that she was his. Of course that was not why she had kissed her husband but it had proved a point and many of the viewers had left the scene. Which was a good thing. She was happy when he seemed to return back to reality, as she had no idea what to make of him buying a house in Spain without telling her first. She wasn’t angry with him though as he knew how much she loved Spain and to have a piece of it, was just brilliant in her mind. “I hope so. God, Alaska. I miss it already! I miss our family, but I cannot wait to bring them next time we come. It’ll be fun....but for now, let’s....enjoy our time alone, shall we?” She kept her tone low, as she was teasing her husband now. To see her husband be so excited made her happy.
It meant they were both going to have a lot of fun while they were there. When Eleazar called forward a cab, she couldn’t help but grin. “Oh yes, I almost forgot it was that time of the year. And hopefully you’ll be the one getting hit more with the tamatoes than I will.” She hoped that they looked like any other normal married couple and that, aside from the fact that they were more beautiful than most would not leave anyone suspicious at all. She grinned thinking of all the ways that this could turn into an interesting vacation. All she cared about was spending the time with her husband, no matter what they did or where they went. “I love you, my dear.” She told him as she stepped into the cab, really excited to see the home that Eleazar had purchased for them. Maybe it meant they could stay in Spain more often?

August, 2060. Spain. The annual Tomato Fight was about to occur.
His eyes almost glittered. Eleazar smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head like a big kid after apologizing to his wife for paying more attention to his video games than her. He would have blushed if blood could ever rush to his cheeks again. Carmen was indeed irritated to see he had chosen his games over her; but that did not mean she hated him for that. He knew that nothing he did could make his wife hate him. She had remained by his side for so long, longer than anyone could imagine. She knew everything about him – good things and bad things. Sometime, Eleazar thought Carmen understood him even better than he did to himself. She had tolerated every crazy thing about him, just to keep on loving him. Having a husband who was always curious and wanted to explore new things was not something easy since occasionally it would make her feel like she was looking after a big child. Nevertheless, she never tried to change him, even just a bit. She let him be whoever he wanted to be and was happy when he was happy. He could live for another three hundred years but he could never find someone like her – someone truly cared about him, loved him and never left his side. His heart was home whenever she was around. He was only himself when she was around. What had he done to have such an amazing wife? How could he ever manage to live without her? He could never thank her enough for coming into his life. And he could never thank her enough for tolerating his crazy love for video games. Well, they, after all, were only a passing trend. They come and go – just like that. But Carmen was the only addiction that he could never get over. Gently, he lifted her hand and moved it to his lips then put a kiss on it. Have I ever told you how wonderful you are, darling? He grinned as he looked into her beautiful eyes. I just want you to now that those bloody things, as you call them, will be forgotten someday, but my love for you is eternal. His Spanish accent was clearer than ever. He was ready to face any ups and downs, as long as she was by his side. Everything would be alright if she was with him. But, my love, don’t call them bloody things in front of Garrett. We are planning on designing a new video game and sell it and Garrett takes it quite serious. He even wants to start our business someday. A mischievous smile grew on his face when he mentioned his brother. Garrett was adventurous, obviously. He wanted to try everything just to know what it was like. Business was something he never tried; therefore, he took it as his next challenge. Everyone, including Eleazar, was well aware of his determination – once he wanted something seriously, he had to get it. It was not a wise thing to call his challenge bloody things, although it was amusing to do so.
Oh, you’ve missed Alaska already? He asked playfully, only wanting to tease her a bit. Being away from Alaska was something strange to him, especially when he had lived in that place for so long. Furthermore, Alaska was the Denali’s home. It was understandable to feel a bit homesick. To Eleazar, the worst thing about this trip he could imagine was not being able to pat Kate on her head for more than one day. He liked doing it, just to show her that he was the older brother who had all the right to pat his little sister on the head. He would miss it during the days in Spain. But in return, he would have all the time in the world to spend with his wife. He could give up everything to be alone with his lovely Carmen. Sure, let’s enjoy our time alone. No noisy siblings, no Kate’s teasing, no video games – just the two of us. He smiled, feeling her lips on him again. La Tomanita was one of his favorite festivals of all time. This year would be the first year he joined the festival with Carmen nonetheless, which would make it even more meaningful. He sniggered as he heard her claiming that he would be the one getting hit more with tomatoes, hopefully. I’m experienced in this game, Darling. Wait and see. He grinned, showing his perfect white teeth. The cab arrived afterwards. The driver got off to help the couple with their luggage. Once again, Eleazar saw the driver’s jaw line drop as the man looked at both of them. He could see the questions spinning around in the man’s head without being a mind-reader like his cousin – Edward. Reluctantly, he had to cause some noise by clearing his throat to bring the driver down to us. Tenemos que ir a esta dirección. He said to the driver while showing him the piece of paper on which the address was written. The driver nodded then helped them with their luggage. As soon as they got inside the cab, Eleazar let out a sigh of relief, feeling glad that no ray of sunshine had shown up yet.
On the way home, Eleazar had a chance to observe the changes of his beloved country. He smiled as his eyes caught a Spanish flag flying on the top of a high building. He could not help but be entirely surprised by the skyscrapers, the modern transportation and also the changes about Spanish people. But there was one thing that never changed – Spain was always full of colors, no matter where in the country. Look how old we are, darling. Everything has changed, except us. He turned to his wife, smiling lovingly at her. Soon, the cab dropped them off in front of a house. Eleazar eagerly got off the cab and waked to the other side to open the door for his wife. He did not forget to pay for the cab and tip generously. He soon got to his wife’s side. Tada! Welcome home, my love. He said excitedly. Green was the first thing everyone would notice about the house. The walls were covered with green ivy. The gate was beautified with climbing roses. There was a giant tree at the front yard whose shadow embraced every inch of the residence. The house was pained with the graceful ivory white and the wooden door was painted black. Looking at the outside, it does not look like our home in Alaska. He looked at the house, commented. But I tried to copy every detail of it inside. He said proudly. With a helping hand of Kate…
Let’s get inside. He said excitedly, taking Carmen’s hand and led her inside.

She could tell that her husband was happy, though had felt a bit of relief when he had appologized to her, and how easily she had accepted it. She loved him, which meant she had to accept everything about him, including those faults of his. She had not hated him for it, for picking the video games over her, but she had accepted his appology. It was just in her nature to be accepting like that. She had wanted to remain by his side from the first moment she had met him, and that feeling had only grown the more they had gotten to know eachother and had decided to be eachother’s mates. She had stayed by his side, through all the good and even the bad things. She’d seen and known almost everything there was to know about her husband. The good, the bad and the downright ugly of things her husband had done.
Though it hadn’t mattered, as she had understood why he had done what he had done, when he had done them. And even though it was probably not easy, she had tolerated every crazy thing he had brought into their lives, into their relationship. She loved him irregardless of anything he could ever do or say. With a husband like him, how he liked to explore new things, and to be more adventureous, she had to tolerate the new things he came up with. While most days it had felt like she was looking after a big child, it was nothing new. She knew him to be that way before she had accepted to be his mate, his other half and the one person that loved him wholeheartedly, no matter what he did in his past. She knew from the moment she met him that there was nothing she could do to change him, and she didn’t want to. If he changed, he wouldn’t be the man she had fallen in love with, the one man that she had found herself perfectly content to be around. He made her happy, and she was happy when he was happy. She could live another three hundred or more years but could never find someone like him. He was a diamond in the rough.
She had known that it wasn’t easy being with him, but she had given him everything she could about herself. She would never abandon him. Even when she got mad at him, she always came back to him. Her heart was complete with him by her side, it was as though she had never left home. Her home was whereever he was. What had she done to deserve someone so pure and loving and handsome as he was? She knew she could not manage to live without him, not without feeling as though part of her was gone forever. She could never stop counting her lucky stars that she had found him when she did. She tolerated every crazy addiction he had, especially the video games and often teased him for it.
She couldn’t help but chuckle when he lifted her hand and moved it to his lips and placed a kiss upon it. It was like he was courting her all over again. “Yes, my dear, as often as you can.” She grinned as she locked eyes with her perfect husband. “And I will be awaiting the day when that occurs, until then, I will tolerate them as best I can. However, nothing will stop me from loving you, for who you are. No matter what crazy addiction you find yourself drawn to, whether it is video games, or something else entirely. What I feel for you, Eleazar, no time would be enough to tell you how much I love you, and how I will always remain by your side, for as long as forever lasts.” She loved her husband and had taken this sweet oppertunity to express just how much she loved him. She loved his Apanish accent and hers had come out, when they had been talking. It was just a natural slip of the tounge, just like it had been many years before when they both had lived in Spain, when she had first met him.
She was ready to face whatever came next so long as he was by her side. Everything would be great as long as they were together, at least in theory. “Well they are. I don’t care what our brother says. That’s all find and well that he wants to design some console and sell the thing. But that’s something that should be his own project, not to drag you into it. You and I both know how determined he is, once he makes up his mind there’s no stopping it. I only feel sorry for Kate more than the rest of us. After all she’s his mate.” She grinned feeling sorry for their sister now. When the conversation turned back to Alaska, she grinned at her husband. “Well of course, it’s our home. Not that I’m not thrilled to be here, with you, right now. Because I am. It’s just Alaska is where you and I have built a home for ourselves, with the other Denali’s. I don’t know if homesick is the right word to use but I just...I miss everone that’s all. But I know you do too.” She sighed. “Speaking of our siblings, Kate has asked me if I could politely get you to stop patting her on the head every time you two are in the same room together. Find some other way to irritate her would you? I mean we all have to live with her.” She chuckled as she knew that no matter what she said, Eleazar wouldn’t stop.
That was just how he was. “I’m glad there’s no video games here to distract you, otherwise I’d leave you here in Spain and I’d return home.” She teased her husband. She’d never abandon him simply because he was distracted by a video game. But she was glad it was just going to be the two of them, no matter what. “Yes, well as experianced as you are, I would hope you would be smart enough to know not to hit your wife with tomatoes, because unlike the other unfortunate souls, you have to deal with me, forever.” She told her husband simply. She hoped he’d hit the others more than he’d try to hit her with them. Then the cab arrived and she was happy to see Eleazar smiling with his perfectly white teeth. She loved his smile, his laugh, anything that had to do with him.
She smiled as she looked at the driver who had gotten out to help them with their luggage. There was sure to be questions no matter where they went, and the stares were often present. She didn’t need to be a mind reader to see that for herelf. She let Eleazar do most of the talking to the driver because he knew where they were going, and she really didn’t. The one good thing about their vacation so far was that there was no distractions like the ray of sunshine which could point them out for what they were. Something that wasn’t normal or even human in every way imaginable. She looked out the window, once she had stepped inside the cab. She held onto his hand, loving just being there next to her husband. Spain was forever a beautiful country, even though it had changed, by the skyscrapers and the modern means of transportation, but also within the people inside the country. It did not matter though as Spain to her would be her home away from home. Spain always did have a natural variation of colors and she loved that. She really did. She smiled warmly as she turned to face her husband when he spoke to her. “Yes, but even with all the changes, one thing remains the same, it is our home. One that we have never forgotten, no matter where we’ve travelled, in the time that we’ve been alive.” She smirked at her husband as she knew what he had meant but she had hoped the driver wouldn’t be asking questions if he was eavesdropping.
Seeing the house for the first time, she was amazed. It might not look like their home in Alaska from the outside, but it was still beautiful nevertheless. She could see it as she waited for her husband to get out of the cab, and to pay the driver. Now instead of the driver opening the door for her, her husband had done it. She grinned as she had taken the first step outside of the cab and saw the house for herself, now that there was nothing blocking her vision. Soon enough Eleazar was by her side and she could not believe the view. It was absolutely stunning. “Thank you, my love. I cannot wait to see the inside if the outside is as beautiful as this! The landscape is beautiful, just like at home. If the outside looked exactly like our home in Alaska, I would have thought we’d have never left. To think we now have a home in the country we both came from....this is great.”
She smiled as she was proud of her husband more than she ever thought she could be. He was absolutely brilliant for buying a home for the two of them here. Surprised though that he hadn’t done it before. “It doesn’t matter if it is exactly like the house in Alaska, sweetheart. Whether every detail matches the one we have in Alaska. All that matters is that it’s ours. A little bit of paradise. But I’ll have to thank Kate when I see her.” She grinned as she took his hand, holding onto it. She was very excited to see what the house looked like on the inside. “I’m so excited to see this!” Suddenly before she knew it the cab had driven away and Eleazar, with a proud smile on his face, led her inside.

August, 2060. Spain. The annual Tomato Fight was about to occur.
Eleazar pulled a smile on his face as he saw her locking her beautiful golden eyes with him. He could live off of looking into those haunting eyes forever. Eleazar had never been the gamer type; all about his addiction was curiosity. Well, people invented cool things everyday and he was always eager to try each of those inventions. And video games happened to be very interesting to him. But it apparently had annoyed his wife a bit, due to the fact that his time with her was cut down so as he could be with his stupid games. He was a fearless man; but Carmen always caught his weaknesses. Nothing he did could fool her, despite how sophisticating it was. Maybe that was why she became his wife – the only person among seven billion people in the world could beat him up without using her fist. He sniggered a bit when she told him that she would be tolerating his bloody things until they became out-of-date to him. See, dear? That is why you became my wife! He grinned. Only you know me. He said as resting his forehead against hers. Words could not describe how much he loved her. So he would not say, just used action to show it. It only took a moment to fall in love, a second to say you loved someone but a lifetime to prove that. As long as he was still alive, he would never stop loving her, caring for her and protecting her. They talked about the video games again and Eleazar found it amusing as he looked at Carmen’s face. Kate was right at some points. Carmen did have a temper despite being very sweet, kind and gentle towards everyone. Obviously, the whole bloody things did not please her at all. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him. You’re even pretty when you’re angry, darling. But Garrett is a genius, in every meaning. Don’t blame him for having a pastime, mi amor. He said softly. And about Kate, she has found the man of her life. I can tell Garrett loves her as much as I love you, by noticing the way he looks at her. And all Kate has to do is tolerating him a bit until he finds a new pastime. He laughed slightly, thinking of himself. He tightened his embrace as Carmen talked about their family in Alaska. They would not have been who they were without the Denali’s. He loved them, cared for them and always protected them although he never made it obvious. Alaska was his home and he loved it as much as he had loved Spain of the old days. His little family had been built up in Alaska – that was where their hearts truly belonged. I know you love our family. I do, too. It’s normal for us to miss them a bit, although we are on the only-two-of-us trip. The smile soon turned into a few giggles as he heard his wife mentioned Kate and his habit of patting her on the head whenever he saw her. Well, it surely annoyed his sister very much, but it amused him. I do that because I love her as a little sister. Besides, she hates it, so it’s perfect to irritate her. I bet she told you about our argument over who was the older one. The title has not been decided. We…will delay it until you and I come back from Spain. Even if she can persuade me to come to term with the fact that she really is the older one, I absolutely will stop patting her on the head. He uttered, laughing a bit. Tanya sometimes caught him and Kate arguing like two big kids about the meaningless title of the older one; of course, the big sister in the family had yelled at them for a few minutes. That had amused everyone.
He smiled playfully as Carmen threatened that she would leave him alone in Spain and return home if he dared to have his eyes on any video games while they were on the trip. He knew she meant it. Nevertheless, she had nothing to worry about since he had sworn to himself that their days in Spain would be all about her. Carmen in the morning, Carmen at noon, Carmen in the afternoon, Carmen in the evening. There was no time for games. His smile grew larger when they mentioned the annual tomato fight – his favorite festival. Yes, I am smart enough to know not to hit my lovely wife with too many tomatoes. But I don’t think you want to miss all the fun. He grinned. And you know that I am willing to trade everything to deal with you forever, mi amor. The cab soon arrived and took them to their home sweet home. Needless to say how eager he was to show her the home he bought for both of them. Eleazar let a sigh as he noticed the changes of his country over time. But his wife was right. No matter how different it was, compared with the way it had been centuries ago, it was still their home – nothing could change that. As they reached their home, Eleazar could not hide a proud smile when he noticed that his wife was stunned by the look of the house. He was so glad she liked it. Hearing what you say, darling, I know it is truly worth the effort. He smiled, taking her hand as he led the way to get inside. Before purchasing the house, he had pictured his dream home in his mind – it should be a small cozy place of the two of them. It would be their own world – the world nothing else existed except the two of them. As the wooden door was opened, the living room appeared like magic. Eleazar smiled gently, feeling satisfied with the decorations. Everything was simple yet elegant. Simplicity was perfection to him. He walked towards the sofa after closing the door behind him then pulled his wife down the sofa with him. Behold my work of art, darling! He smiled, loosened his arm around her a bit.

Locking eyes with her husband was perhaps one of the more loving things she could do. He was her knight in all of the chaos that their world had been surrounded in. She never could have found anyone as loving and as supportive as her husband, he was her mate, her soulmate—despite the fact that neither of them had souls anymore. Eleazar was always the curious type, and she loved that about him, despite his newest curiousity being something she couldn’t really stand. Video games, she never saw the point in it, but clearly he and their brother, Garrett, had. She didn’t have to be physical to beat some sense into her husband. She loved her husband, and that meant that she had to tolerate all of his curiousities.Which meant she had to tolerate the video games until they became out of date for him. “No, that is not the reason I became your wife, Eleazar. If it was do you really think I would have stuck around? I know you better than you know yourself dear.” She grinned as she felt him rest his forehead against her own. She loved him very much.
Nothing, no amount of time....no amount of words could describe the overwhelmingly beautiful emotion, called love, that she had for her husband. A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she thought of all they had been through together. Of the day they met, of how they had had their bittersweet conversations which led them to feeling something....strong for the other. It took only a second to fall for someone, but it took so much more than that to prove it. She had remained by her husband’s side, through the good and the bad. As long as she was still alive, she would remain by his side, to do everything she could to ensure he was happy and that he knew he was loved. She would protect him at all cost. Even at the cost of losing her own life.
Normally she was very sweet and compassionate but there was only so much she could tolerate....before she became angry. A compassionate smile appeared on her face when he had wrapped his arms around her and pulled her even closer to him. She chuckled when she thought of her brother. “Garrett, a genius? I think you have lost what good sense I’ve known you to have. I don’t blame him, Eleazar except when it means that pasttime of his takes you from me....which you can’t blame me, since I love you. And I want to spend time with you. Kate, definitely has. I mean I see the way she looks at him too. Hell he’s the only one who could have handled her when she was ready to shock someone especially when....Irina died.” She spoke softly as she looked at her husband. The truth was she knew her husband better than anyone else.
She was sure she and Eleazar could have been happy, whether they were with the Denali’s or not, but they wouldn’t have been as happy without them. She had loved them, cared for them and had done the best she could to protect them. Although unlike her husband she was more than willing to make it obvious, which was why the girls had grown so much closer together, especially after the grief they had endured with Irina’s death. Despite the fact that Spain held a very special place in her unbeating heart, Alaska was where she truly belonged, as did Eleazar. It was their home, more than Spain was now. “I know....and I do love our trips together. Though it’s been a while since we’ve had one, don’t you think?” She listened to her husband chuckle about annoying their sister, and she rolled her eyes. And hitting him in the chest playfully. “Yeah, well you’re not her older brother, Eleazar. You may look like it but you’re far from it. Oh yes, she told me about that alright. I swear sometimes I think Tanya and I are the only rational ones in our entire coven. Because it’s clear to me, you, Kate and Garrett will never grow up. You really should stop patting her on the head though. Find another way to annoy her. God knows she is hot-tempered enough. What would happen if she decided she had enough and shocked you while you patted her on the head then what?” She laughed a little bit. Tanya had to be the one in charge, in the mother role...which was kind of strange at times but she loved their sister for it. Still it did get quite amusing when Tanya yelled at Eleazar and Kate. It was very interesting to behold.
The fact of the matter was, that she would have left him alone in Spain should he do something that annoyed her to no end, like those bloody games of his. They should be left in Alaska. She knew that his favorite festival had always been the tomato fight. “Yes but I think I would prefer if you know, we weren’t hitting eachother with them, and hit someone else instead! After all I think we make a pretty good team...don’t you my love? Fun? What’s so fun in being hit with a tomato anyway?” She grinned as she looked at her husband. He was something else altogether. “Well I’m not going anywhere, I’ve been by your side this long, I don’t think it’ll change any time soon.” When the cab arrived she was happy, even if it was something out of their past. Seeing the house for the first time was absolutely brilliant. Eleazar couldn’t have picked a better one!
Her golden eyes lokoed upon the scenery while they were in the cab. So much had changed and yet some things were still the same. It was their home after all. Nothing would change that. No matter how much time had passed. After all Spain was where the two of them had in fact met and fallen in love. “It’s beautiful....I think for the first time, Eleazar in our marriage you have actually outdone yourself. Well done.” She smiled as she looked upon the house. Once he took her hand and led her inside it was absolutely brilliant. He did a very good job setting the place and the decorations were very simple but elegant in the same way. Everything seemed like magic, it had a charm about the house, not because it was hers and her husband’s but because of how it was shown...she’d seen a lot of renovated properties and properties that were worth a fortune, but in her mind this one beat them all. She followed her husband inside, and had shut the door behind them. “I’m....quite impressed dear, you did good.” She smiled as she felt herself being pulled down onto the sofa with him, she turned to face him and planted a kiss on his cheek. She was still in awe with everything she had in fact seen.
