The Volturi are the largest and most powerful coven of vampires. They enforce the laws of the vampire world. Ruled by Aro, Marcus and Caius, the equivalent of royalty in the vampire world, it also consists of a collection of powerfully imposing vampires, known as the "Volturi guard”.

The Volturi is structured using a hierarchy. There is a group with the most power and authority, and each subsequent level represents a lesser authority. Within the Volturi this is, for lack of better word, the pecking order. Each person will be listed below with their respective rank and power.

The Volturi leaders are the heart and soul of the Volturi. They founded the coven and so, therefore, are the highest ranking members. They make the rules and have the final say on all matters to do with the Volturi. The current leaders have remained in their positions for thousands of years, unchallenged.

The guard, also known as the Volturi guard, is a group of vampires with powerful capabilities. They are the subordinates of the coven. The Volturi have been shown to invite mostly vampires with unbelievable powerful gifts that the leaders see as useful to ensuring that their authority amongst the other covens remains unchallenged.

Aro only allows the ones with the best of skills to join the guard. Ranks are based on abilities.

The wives are the spouses of the Volturi leaders. They hold the same rank as their husbands, but do not have any say in coven-related issues. Unless they need to know, they remained ignorant and live like queens in the Volturi tower, waited on hand and foot and guarded always, constantly kept happy by Corin's gift.
