- - - - - - - - - Esme had been at work for what had felt like forever. She had been meeting with potential clients for her recent renovation but none of them had been what she was looking for. There was so much corruption in the world now. She did not understand why people could not just accept a house and be thankful for it instead of trying to change it all. She had spend time and money on the build to make it as perfect as possible. She did not care about the money she only cared about the house. She wanted someone who appreciated it to take it. Someone who truly loved it, who's eyes light up when they seen it. But sadly no one had done this.
Sighing as she pulled up outside the Cullen household, she felt so emotionally drained. She had done nothing but worry for days now. Ever since they had received the invitation from the Volturi. She had been on edge and it was taking it out her. Not physically but emotionally. She hid it as much as possible from the others but there was only so much she could do. She would be the first one to put her hands up and admit that she was no superwoman. Not mentally anyway. She was too soft for all this. Too motherly. She could not stand to think for one second that her family would go to Volterra and never come back.
Shaking the feeling from her she tried her best to put on her best smile. It was getting harder with the passing weeks. Anyone looking at her would know it was a fake smile. She just could no longer hide it. Pushing the sunglasses from her golden eyes she placed them into her dark brunette hair. She had used the sunglasses to cover her eyes, mostly because she did not feel like showing her emotions today. Esme never had ill feelings towards humans but she could only take so much in this state. Checking herself in the car to make sure she was presentable she smoothed her dress over her curvaceous figure and started towards the house.
She had to look presentable today, most of her clients were very wealthy. She had placed on a navy blue dress with a belt at the waist to draw attention to how small it was. Black heels on her feet, she had painted her nails red for a change. Matching red lipstick and a smokey eye. She felt like she barely passed for presentable but of course she looked stunning.
Taking a deep unneeded breath she pushed open the door. She had been thinking about this the whole way home. They had to talk. The whole family. They had to figure out exactly what to do at this ball. Especially if things went horribly wrong. She had spoken to Bella about it a little but the rest of the family had to know. There had to be plans made. She was going to gather them together tonight and force it out of them whether they liked it or not. She had many dark thoughts about the ball. And was willing to stay behind if needed. She wasnt going to argue about it. She wanted a plan in place. There had to be, there was too much at stake. Especially since Nessie would be there.
"Hello, Anyone home?" She called softly.

Carlisle had the day off from the hospital today he had been out hunting all evening and into the early morning and it was around midday when he made his way back to the house, usually Carlisle would not hunt alone in fact it was quite a rare occurrence usually one of his adopted children would keep his company and they would laugh and joke, compete to see who could catch their meal quicker which Carlisle would usually fix to allow them to win. Today however Carlisle had wanted to go alone, he had needed the time and the space to think, this invite from the Volturi had worried him this along with the visit from his Romanian friends to discuss what they would do and whether they were going to go. It felt like there was a lot of pressure on his back for this decision. He wanted to make peace with the Volturi and show them that they were no longer a threat to them in anyway, but at the same time he was weary of his old friend and from his time in the Volturi he learnt that they did not put on a show without having some reasoning behind it. There was something going on behind the scenes of this ball that Aro was keeping close to his chest and Carlisle wished he could understand what it was because he feared that by attending he would risk threatening the fine balance they seemed to have with the Volturi.
These thoughts plagued his mind as he pulled the door open, he changed quickly as his clothes were quite dirty and bloody from hunting like normal, after which he headed back downstairs sitting down in the living room the house was silent .. which was surprising they would all be around here somewhere most likely causing trouble he thought to himself. He methodically tapped his fingers on the chair as he crossed his legs working through the many situations of this ball and all the possibilities of what could happen, the look was just an image a projection of humanity something that he had worked on for many a century in order to fit in best with the world. Fit in .. or hide seemed a better way of thinking about it, to hide their secrets from humans and now he had to hide his family from the rulers of their kind which hardly seemed right or fair, but there was not much other choice he had.
The sound of his wife's voice brought him out of his thoughts as he looked up running a hand through his hair "I'm in the living room my dear" he said in response to her question, he understood that she was just as worried as she was about it all about the ball and their family which was why he tried to keep his thoughts to himself on the topic to himself as much as he could. The last thing he wanted was for her to worry, but it was difficult because he was as worried as she was and in their house of all places it was a difficult place to worry, any minute now Jasper would realize how worried they secretly were and he would try his best to relieve them all of their fears taking them on to himself and using his ability to calm them all. In an odd way Carlisle was rather hoping he would the clear mind and conscious that Jasper brought would help him think clearer and that was what he needed to do to figure this out.

As a wife and mother she had been preparing for the inevitable. She disliked the topic she and her mother had once talked about. Esme was beautiful in every way imaginable. The world was not the same one she had grown up in. In her time things were safe, or well safer, before knowing of the Cullens. But she did not regret it as she loved every single one of them. People were picky these days with how they wanted their house to be, she knew it better than anyone. Perfection was key for a lot of people, something most would never achieve. She didn’t care about the house, not in the way that some people did, with the fancy decor and the need for it to be perfect. All she cared about was that it was a roof over hers and her family’s head and that it worked for what they needed it to. Money had nothing to do with it. Still she understood her mother’s desire to have the people who bought her houses to appreciate the house that she worked hard for, and who truly loved it. Whose eyes had lit up when they saw it but sadly sometimes that didn’t happen.
The vampire stood in the family’s kitchen, coming up with something to keep her hands busy as her Gran often told her. It was something that kept her mind at ease with all the chaos that was happening in their lives. As strong as her family members were physically sometimes their emotions made them drained. She had worried ever since knowing of the Volturi’s ball and even more so since the conversation she had had with her mother. She had tried to keep her emotions to herself but with her mother it had been unsuccessful. Most times she was able to keep her emotions from people, and so that they couldn’t tell what she was feeling much less thinking. She was not superwoman, but she was a wife, a mother, a daughter and a sister, and she would help them in any way she could. She was always somebody’s something. Here she had a chance to be strong, instead of soft and warm and caring that she usually was. She had to be fierceand determined when it came to going in front of the Volturi. She didn’t want to think of losing anyone, when they went to Volterra and that some of them might not make it back in one piece. Which scared her even more.
She had her brunette hair in a bun as she had been trying to make sure it did not get in her eyes as she was cooking. She had known that her mother was highly stressed out, one didn’t have to read her mind to see that. At this time, anything was possible, she knew that. She took a deep unneeded breath as she continued stirring the pot on the stove. She had been cooking one of her famous double decadence chocolate cakes. It was one of the recipe’s she had kept from her Gran after she died. She was wearing one of the outfits that Alice had picked up for her a few weeks ago, the nice blue color seemed to match the mood she was in, though she did her best to keep it carefully in check. She had silver flats, instead of the heels like her sisters and even her mother would wear. She knew that she didn’t need makeup to look presentable but she had done her usual routine except changed the color of her lips to more of a sultry red than the normal color it usually was. She knew she looked presentable even though she had no where to be, unlike her mother and father.
She had been worried. Her mother had stated that they needed to gather the entire family to talk about what was coming, with the ball and all that came with it. Plans had to be made even if it was not something she wanted to see happen. She normally had an upbeat attitude about things but with the ball it was harder to keep to that attitude, which only Edward and her mother seemed to notice. She was on her mother’s side when it came to discussing things tonight. A plan had to be in place, incase there was nothing they could do but fight and to decide who stayed and who left. Too much would be at stake, and not just because her baby girl would be in attendance. She could hear her mother calling her and that alone made her worry, she knew that she was running out of time. She turned off the burner and moved the pan to another burner so that it could cool. “Coming Mom.” She had started calling Esme that a while back because often times they were out in public and it just had made it easier to call her that then. It just stuck with her, and plus she knew it made her mother happy.
She had hunted early that morning so there was no need to bother anyone else. She’d changed afterwords of course. She had needed the time and the space to work through her emotions given what today would bring. Since today they had to discuss what she and her mother had already talked about. There had to be something they could do. This invite had driven her completely crazy, mostly out of worry for the others’ lives more than anything else. Though she did her best to hide it, and she was pretty good at doing that. As much as she wanted peace with the Volturi she had a feeling that wasn’t going to happen. There was a lot riding on this. She might not have known the Volturi as well as her father and the others did, but she had a feeling that this was not just going to be a ball. This was going to be a possible recruitment. Something else was going on and she wanted to know what that was. She did not want to risk going only because they had maintained peace with the Volturi for this long and whether they went or not could very well threaten that sense of peace they had gotten used to. She knew others were in the house, namely her father, Carlisle. He was there, just like her mother was. After exiting the kitchen she walked into the living room, to see her father and she grinned at him. “Hey, I thought I heard you.” He had been such a sweet and kind man to her, especially after her own father had passed on. Now she had looked up to him and to her mother too. Especially in times like this with the ball looming over them. Could they even hide from the Volturi, or was that going to make it more dangerous for them? She did not wnat to put herself or her family in danger which was why she had tried to keep her attentions focused on something else, which was why she had been cooking that morning. She ran a hand through her hair as she had come into the room. She waited to see her mother appear knowing she wouldn’t be too far behind.

Esme had heard Carlisle words first. Even in the mood she was in it still brought a small smile to her face. No matter what life threw at them she loved Carlisle more than she could ever possibly express. She feared the most for him. She knew how well the Volturi and her husband had gotten on before but times had changed. They had had an unnatural obsession with them ever since they had first met Bella when she went to save Edward. It was like they could not leave them alone. The Volturi had knew of their presence before Bella was even born. Of course the last time they had met was before Alice and Jasper joined the family.
Esme knew all about Aro's plans to take members of her family. But she was so positive that at the last stand it would be over. This was where she fell short as a vampire. She let her ideas of fairy tale endings get in the way with real life. Esme was too kind and happy to have thought otherwise. But when they had received the invitation it had knocked her off kilter. She knew from the second they had received the invitation that there was going to be trouble. She had hoped to herself she would never have to lay eyes on the Volturi again but of course she was wrong. Sadly she always was when it came to things like this.
She couldn't suppress the sigh that escaped her lips as she walked towards the living room. Her heels tapping on wooden flooring she continued to make her way towards the living room. She turned her head hearing Bella's voice. She was glad at least some of them were in. Of course the others were still to come but she would round them up. Today was the day. She could not harbor these feelings any longer. She could not slap on a smile and pretend everything was okay. Especially when there was a possibility they were going to their death. She knew that it was effecting everyone. Especially Carlisle. She wanted to take all the worry and stress away from him, but there was just so much on everyone's shoulders it was hard to cheer others up.
She had been walking slower than she expected. Finally entering the room, she held a small smile on her crimson lips. Due to her mood and her thoughts she had skipped feeding today. Her eyes were a dark hazel instead of the beautiful golden orbs they normally were. Everything was in such a dark place, she just did not know fix anything anymore. This dark cloud hanging over them was getting too much to bear and she feared the worst.
"Hello my love." She walked towards him, a small smile still on her lips. "Hello Bella" Her voice was soft but she was having trouble hiding her mood.

"Bella" Carlisle said in a soft voice the hint of a smile threatening to steal across his lips as she entered speaking about how she had heard him and so it begins he thought, it was going to be a difficult afternoon and he had a feeling the conversation would stray long into the evening and the discussions would go on as people asked questions and they looked for away to help everyones nerves.
Carlisle managed a small smile as Esme entered the room he looked up at her, no matter how worried he was she could always help him to smile even if his eyes were filled with worry and fear for not only her life but the lives of their entire family. He gently took her hand so she could sit next to him and he could keep her close, even though it was not now that she needed to protect her he felt the overwhelming urge to keep her close and protect her from everything and everyone, right here he knew no harm would come to her but he was scared of leaving here and what would happen when they were away from their home and their safe place that was when he would be most scared. In all his years he had seen the detrimental damage that came from loosing the one person you loved more than anything, the way it closed you off from everyone else and how forever seemed like such a long time an arduous amount of time without someone to spend it with. It was something he did not want to be condemned to living before he had known her had been hard enough and now that he had tasted such a wonderful and beautiful life with her he did not know how or even if it would be possible for him to go back to living a life of solitude without her.
"Hello" He said softly looking over at her loosing himself in her golden eyes for a few seconds, he knew why she was here and why Bella was here they were here to .. well discuss their plans with this Ball and there was much to discuss and much to worry about, but there just seemed no way to be able to begin the conversation in his opinion it all seemed so complicated and he did not want to share his own fears with everyone. To his family Carlisle was the voice of reason, the person that always knew exactly what they should do and how they should act, how to avoid trouble and keep the peace, but this scared Carlisle if he had made the wrong decision if he said the wrong thing here and the decision he made was wrong then he knew he would feel responsible.
The last thing he wanted was for something to happen to any of them, but if it did and the decision had been made based on his advice then he knew he would be unable to forgive himself, especially with the conversation he had with his Romanian Allies recently, they had made him see that he always looked for a peaceful alternative and that he always tried to find the good in a person even if it did not exist. This had made him doubt his decision process slightly, not that nobody knew this he was a master of keeping it to himself, but he was trying to remain impartial to the Volturi and he wanted to avoid a fight and keep the peace with them, still his family came first that he had to remember. As he thought he gently ran his thumb across Esme's hand he knew she was as troubled as he was, as they all were and he wished for a way to take that away from her, he knew that was why they were all meeting here everyone was after an escape of their doubts they wanted to voice them and have Carlisle fix it for them and he hoped he could do that for them.

It was just one of those days where Esme felt like jumping into Carlisle arms and burying her face in his chest and just sitting there till she felt better. But she knew that Carlisle felt the stress too. She felt bad that everyone relied on him so much, she knew that it made him anxious. But she also knew that nobody expected him to have answers for everything. Carlisle was an excellent, intelligent man but not even he could make everything better. They would all have to take their own portion on to themselves and deal with it.
As soon as he touched her hand, the electricity began. She loved him more than anything. And today she just felt so protective of him. She just wanted to take him somewhere and hide for the rest of their lives. Isle Esme would have been perfect. She really wish it was a possibility but this was so much bigger than them.
They held a deep love for each other but rarely held a public display of affection. But today Esme needed it. She knew Bella was watching but a part of her did not care. She sat right in Carlisle lap. She had to be close to him, it was a desire that she had had all day and she could no deny it any longer. She felt his thumb stroking her hand and smiled softly. Being this close was amazing. It normally took everything away, all the worry and sorrow but there was so much.
There was so much to discuss too and this made her even more nervous. She had never admitted it before but she was terrified. Completely terrified. She couldn't lose her family. She couldnt lose Carlisle. She just could not take a loss like that again. She was not made for it. Even when she had seen Irina being killed it had haunted her for days after. She could not even begin to imagine what the other Denali's were going through. She had offered them everything she could but it was not enough. Nothing would ever be enough when losing someone you loved so dearly.
Turning to face her husband she raised a shaky hand to his face and stroked his cheek softly. Looking deep into his eyes she could see all his feelings. The pain, the worry and the fear. The exact same emotions mimicking in hers. She wanted to tell him it was okay. She wanted to make it better. But it was not as simple as that.

She could tell this was going to be a tense afternoon, she could feel it. She didn’t have to have the abilities of her husband, brother or sister to know that. She hoped the others would arrive soon, as it was going to be a hectic kind of a thing. It involved all of them. She loved her family more than words could ever define. There was no doubt about that. Sure she may not have been with them as long as they had been with eachother but that was not the point. They were her family and that was what had mattered most, she worried more so about her daughter in this sitaution, because her daughter, like her grandfather had always tried to see the best in everyone. It was something she wished she had, these days, but that had almost disappeared after the run in with the Volturi fifty years ago.
She could remember her first run in with the Volturi, dangerous vampires they were. Back then she didn’t have her shield to protect her, or Edward and how she wished she had it then. It would have saved them both a lot of pain. She loved each of her family members in their own way, Edward especially, and their daughter. The fact of the matter was, that Carlisle had a friendship with Aro and the other Volturi members but that had been strained fifty years ago when they had gone after his granddaughter. Her daughter, and that of course had only made her even more cautious. Could they still hold a grudge against them for that? She knew that the Volturi knew of the family since before she was even thought of, and that did not bother her. Of course she knew that Aro did plan on taking the members of their family when they least expected it. They would stand together just like they had fifty years ago, and that they would never give into him.
Life was no fairy tale, it wasn’t about good or evil, it just was. Real life fell short of those kinds of hopes and dreams of the human world around them. How lucky they were not to know the dangers that they were in fact always in. When the invitation had ben recieved she couldn’t help but fear for the worst, of knowing one or more of them could die. She had hoped that she would never have to lay her eyes on the leaders of the royalty of their world. She knew that it was not going to be that simple. She knew that she could not trust that kind of hope. It was crazy to think of how difficult their lives were becoming. And how dangerous the end could be.
At least with her shield she hoped she would be able to protect those she loved when the time came for it. Entering the living room like she had a few minutes ago one would think she wasn’t a vampire to begin with because of how slow she had been walking. She had to be there. Her parents needed her to be strong, especially her mother. They had talked about this of course. They had to talk about this kind of thing as much as she knew it was going to turn into an arguement. No one was going to agree with her and her mother about the plan they had come up with. Of what would happen should one of them be killed. Today was the day in question and she was going to have to handle whatever possibility that this conversation turned to. She knew that it was effecting every single one of her family members, except probably her daughter as her daughter didn’t have the same kind of worries that the rest of them seemed to have. All the worry and the stress was not going to help any of them, and she only hoped Jasper would show up soon so that they could be more at ease though she felt bad her brother had to take it all in for himself. There was a lot of stress on everyone, more than there usually was.
Her golden eyes looked upon the room itself. Because of the mood everyone seemed to be in, there was very little room for negative thoughts. She knew upon seeing her mother that she hadn’t fed recently and that made her slightly nervous for her mother. There seemed to be a dark cloud hanging over their home and over their lives and she just wanted it gone. She didn’t know how to fix it and she looked to her parents for guidance in that respect. She smiled when her parents both greeted her. She had a smile on her face but she was having the slightest bit of trouble keeping it there without it appearing to be more forced than it usually was, though she did her best not to make it appear that way. Her father’s soft voice made her aware that there was going to be some kind of a discussion soon, and that he was just as worried as her mother was about all of this. Which was quite understandable. Everyone’s nerves would be up and she hoped they could come up with a solution and fast to ease what was sure to be a tense afternoon. When her parents looked at eachother she could see the love they had for one another and even after all that time it made her smile.
One could see how in love the two were, and how protective they were for eachother, even after all this time. Truth was she was scared that something would happen, because if something detrimental would happen, and lives could be lost of course it made her worried. Fearful even though she was used to bottling up her emotions to protect herself. The one thing they each feared for was of losing that one person that they loved more than anything, it was like it closed themselves off of everyone else and how forever might seem like such a long time but it could also be just as short. Irina’s death had proved that. That sometiems there was no happily ever after and that death could still occur. The idea of living forever without those people that she loved the most, it would be a condemed living, something of which she would want to end, quickly. She had known of what a beautiful and loving life could be with this family and she did not want anyone put in a situation where solitude might occur. She could tell that the others had felt the same way about their mates, but she also felt this way about her daughter as well. As she was a parent just like they were.
In a matter of speaking she was unsure of where the conversation should begin, after all she was just a member of the coven, her parents were the ones who led the coven and she wouldn’t have it any other way. They were her parents after all and she trusted their judgement just as much as she had her own. It was so complicated really but there was no way to just turn back the clock and pretend that the invitation had not arrived. She knew her father well enough to know that he was not one to share his worries with everyone but this was something that he was usually the voice of reason on. Even then she knew that her father was the one who often kept them out of trouble and could keep the peace, but this was something different as each of them had a certain responsibility to the others, and to the coven as a whole. But she trusted her father’s judgement more than words could even say, and she would not blame him if something happened. She would blame the Volturi.
Even she knew there was no way to truly keep the peace within the Volturi. They wanted certain members of their family and they would do anything they had to, in order to get them. She did not doubt her father’s oppinion or the way in which he had reached a decision as he was good about pointing them in the right path, time after time. She had wanted to avoid a fight but knew that sometimes they didn’t have a choice. Her family came first and if their lives were threatened she would step in and fight, even if she couldn’t truly fight, the way that the others could. She could shield them to help give them some help. They all were troubled by the decisons in which they had to make, one could see that upon her parents’ faces, and her own. There was no reason to doubt what they already knew to be true, they just had to hope for the best and come up with a plan of escape if needed.
She moved into the room so that she could find a seat across from her parents, and to know that they were there, safe was a good feeling. They wouldn’t be once they left the territory which was their own, in their safe home. She did not expect her parents to have the answers for everything, no one could. However she looked up to both of them and had hoped that they could do this without adding any extra stress on anyone else. She did not want to add stress onto anyone.
It was just one of those things where she was protective over her family members, despite not having been with them as long as her other siblings were. That was besides the point. This whole thing she wished would just go away. That they didn’t have to attend the ball and that they could continue to live out their lives in peace. She did not mind how her parents showed the affection and love for one another, it was something she had loved about them from the first time they met. She smiled at her parents and was happy that at least for the moment they were able to be with one another, even with all the stress in their lives though it made her wish Edward was right there with her. She missed her husband and wondered where he and their lovely daughter were.
Even when Irina’s death had occurred she had been haunted for it, because although she did not like how Irina had gone to the Volturi’s, no one should have to die like that for a simple mistake. Albeit she hadn’t liked how their cousin hadn’t even come to their family first to ask any kind of questions and had just assumed it. But that was in the past. She could not handle the idea of losing someone else. She had already lost her human family, the ones that had brought her into this world, and she could not handle losing anyone else. It would tear her apart literally, more so than if someone had ripped her own heart out of her chest and ripped her head off of her shoulders. It would be worse than anything words could ever define. She loved her family that much even without a beating heart to prove it. Nothing would ever be enough when one was faced with losing the very people that loved you and that you loved with every fiber of your being. She could not imagine the pain that the other Denali’s had been faced with, after having lost not only Irina but the others too that she had never gotten a chance to meet. As she had only met two of the ones who had passed on, Irina and her mate, Laurant. There was so much tension in the room but she wasn’t sure what to do, or how to be. She just let them have their moment as she waited for something...anything to happen. She just stayed silent knowing it wasn’t good to interrupt what was a tender moment between her parents.

She looked at her parents and with a smile on her face she was able to sense when her husband had walked through that door. She did not need her husband’s ability or that of anyone else’s in the family to tell that she was able to read her husband with ease. Taking a deep yet unneeded breath she knew he would be able to tell the tension from the room. Soon enough she walked with vampiric speed over to her husband. She wrapped her arms around him and engulfed him in a hug, like she always did. Their romance had been something of a fairy tale, and it wasn’t over.
Not yet anyway. She looked at her husband as she could see how worried he was. “We are just gathering everyone together to talk, honey, that’s all. Just like we always do before a big decision comes down. So that we all are on the same page.” She looked to her parents for support, knowing it was the only thing that was keeping her from wanting to do something rash. They could not after all walk into the lion’s den without there being some kind of plan. She did not trust the Volturi, any more than she had from the first time she had met them. And fifty years ago had proved that she couldn’t. She knew that it could easily turn nasty and with that she couldn’t be true to the promise she had always made to her husband that she wouldn’t put herself in harm’s way.
She wasn’t just a daughter anymore, she was a wife and a mother, and as such she had to act that way. She knew that their father had sent a message to everyone who wasn’t already there, which included her two sisters, her daughter, and her two brothers. Edward had just come home so it was a good thing to see him standing before her. Releasing her husband she continued to stand by his side like she had for the last fifty years. Like she would continue to do until she was killed.
She looked to her husband knowing that he was absolutely worried for their daughter much as any parent could be. She had to reassure her husband that their little girl was alright. It was safer that way. She took a look at him and then back to their parents. “Our daughter’s fine, she should be coming home at any time. Last I heard from her she was with Jacob. And we both know where they usually are. In La Push, so they’re safe.” She knew that Edward had not been overly keen on having Jacob into their lives but Jacob was her closest friend and well Jacob had imprinted on their little girl and they had to accept that. She looked to her husband. “The most important thing right now, is that we’re all coming together. I don’t know where Alice and the others are, but I hope that they’ll arrive soon. I haven’t heard from them as to know where they are.” She told her husband as she was still capable of taking care of herself and those she loved, even if she was a lot like her mother.
She wondered how the family would react if she and her mother chose to share the little bit they had discussed without the rest of the family members, how if something were to happen to her mother that she would carry on and to take that role in keeping the family together, to help her father in every way imaginable. Though she did not like the fact itself, she had only agreed to it for her mother’s sake. One less thing to worry about as her mother had said, it was their own secret plan in place. She kept her shield up so that her husband could not read her mind about such things. And knowing her mother, she would keep those thoughts at bay with Edward around.

Grandpa wants to meet me at home. Bye guys. Renesmee put a kiss on Seth’s cheek and ran out of the house of her wolf friend - Jake - with a smile on her face. The girl moved as fast as she could towards her house. School was out for weeks and summer had started already. After all there was nothing much to do in summer. If she was not at home, she would spend the day with Jacob and his pack. She had played cards with her wolf friends all day until she received a message from Carlisle. The message brought some questions in her head about what was going on – was that an emergency? Or…it had something to do with the upcoming ball. A smile grew on her face as she thought of the coming event. She had received the invitation and needless to say how excited she was, which worried her family quite much. She had looked forward to attending the ball when information was just rumors and it made sense to her when she could not stop thinking about the ball. It was mainly because of curiosity. Renesmee had never really taken part in any events of the vampire community due to her safety as well as her parent’s worries and that made her even more excited about joining the ball. The little girl truly wanted to know what the vampire society was like. Furthermore, she knew she would be able to meet new people at the ball – people that were like her, or at least half of her. Nevertheless, her eagerness seemed to worry everyone in the family as much as it did to Jacob and his pack. There were sayings about that could possibly go wrong at the ball. Dangers were waiting for her. Shadows were ready to eat her alive. Jacob appeared to be very unhappy with the fact that he was not able to attend the ball with her, not that he wanted to take part in such an activity but he feared for her. She had to spend days to convince him that she would be fine and he had nothing to worry about as her family would be with her all the time. That set his mind at ease but did not help him breathe any more easily. Poor Jake, but his words would not make any difference – she would go no matter what. Stubbornness was what she got from her parents after all. They could not blame her for being so much like them. She grinned at the thought when she opened the door to enter the house.
I’m home! She said loudly so that everyone would hear her. Quickly, the girl made her way to the living room where her grandparents and her parents were. Renesmee wore the typical childish smile as she walked in the room. Hi Grandpa, Grandma. Hi Mom, hi Dad. Carlisle had told her not to call him grandpa because it made him feel old but she just could not stop doing that as she simply loved him too much, as much as she loved Grandpa Charlie. She put the backpack on the table then approached her parents. There were worries on her father’s face and she knew they were certainly for her. Her father was always overprotective over her, as every father should be, especially when his daughter was nothing but a troublemaker. But the girl did not mind at all. In fact, she loved the attention she got from her family, especially her father. She loved it when he called her his baby girl and worried about her. It showed her how much he loved and cared about her and nothing could make a daughter happier than the love from her father, although he overreacted sometimes. I was at Jake’s house, playing cards with him and his pack. I got back here as soon as I got the message. She said in order to put her father’s mind at ease. What did I miss? Her chocolate-brown eyes widely opened and looked innocent as she questioned. tagged: the cullens <3 outfit: this

((OKAY PEOPLE LISTEN UP!!!
This thread is getting crazy and I know people are excited but as I'm Carlisle and an adminy (yes I know this is jazzys account but I'm also Carlisle) I'm going to establish a posting Order to keep this all as neat and tidy as possible and also stop everyone getting confused as to who is posting and who we are waiting for! As the rest of the Cullens join I will add them to the list! Please post in order if your joining then you shall be added to the end of the list and so on and so forth! If the thread starts slowing down due to people not being around we can figure that out later but if we try to stick to this it might run smoother!
ESME, CARLISLE, BELLA, EDWARD, RENESMEE, JASPER)) [/center] Jasper had been wondering alone through the forests surrounding town he needed to get away from everyone and everything just to think peacefully. He still held in his hands the letter addressed to him that he had been ambushed with earlier in the day, the letter asking a question that the Volturi required an answer to immediately without hesitation that he had to give there and then. If anything he was wondering whether the correct decision had been made or whether someway or somehow he was being tricked and played into making the wrong decision, still there was no way of telling the only thing to be done was to head home and explain to them what he had been forced to agree to. Still Jasper continued to walk slowly, usually when he wanted to clear his mind he ran when he ran it was difficult for the mind and his ability to focus on something for too long and tell him how everyone as feeling so this way he managed a temporary way of escaping his ability. Pausing for a few seconds he looked over the town and their house wondering how they would all react to what he had agreed to, would his 'family' be disappointed in him that was most likely he wished they would not be but that seemed like an impossible thing to ask of someone. Jasper was feeling quite disappointed in himself to be honest, if anything happened to Alice as a result of this decision he would hate himself forever if he lost her because he had been pressured into helping them for one night then he had no idea what he would do. The walk back to his home did not take long and before he knew it he was leaning against a tree surveying the house, he could already feel it their doubts, fears, pain and worry. It made him want to run away and hide, he could break down these fears he knew who was feeling what which persons in the room were more worried, he could feel their doubts about the decisions that were going to be made and a part of him did not want this. For once he wanted to walk into a room and be reassured by someone that was what this meeting was for people were panicking and they were looking to Carlisle for reassurance, but Jasper knew already he would not be reassured. He could see through it all he could tell when Carlisle was attempting to reassure them and he knew that he feared as much as the rest of them he was just a master of deception and hiding it all Despite this a part of him felt the need to enter the room, to use his power and ability to help them receive the calm reassurance they all craved and to help them focus and think clearly. This was the selfless thing to do, not act with one thing in mind himself and run away, he owed these people too much to run. He owed everyone too much to run away when he could help, he had used his ability to fill people with complacency before he murdered them and he owed it to himself to use hiss ability to help people. They were after all his family, even if it did not feel like that all the time they cared for him in the way a family would. Jasper pushed the door open silently he did not need to follow the sounds of their voices their emotions spoke louder to him. He entered the room silently placing the opened letter addressed and hand delivered to Jasper Hale in front of Carlisle before he stepped away standing on the outskirts of the room the way he always did. It did not matter to him who read the letter first, it seemed only right to present the letter to Carlisle because he was the leader of the coven whether he accepted the position or not and one always reported acts of treason to the heights commanding officer or leader and in jaspers opinion this could be considered as treason. Choosing his position tactically Jasper stood in the furthest corner his back to the bookshelf, the window to his right and the rest of the room on his left. As always Jasper stood in a presentable fashion his hands behind his back his legs slightly apart standing up right and military like as always, this was what he knew, it was the only thing he knew. Slowly he opened his mind up to the emotions of the room, sensing their confusion directed towards the letter, their fears of the volturi, their doubts in each other he took a deep and unnecessary breath allowing calm to slowly spread through the room. Still his focus was on the letter wanting to know their opinions of how he had been forced into a temporary guard job helping out the Volturi for one night with his gift, they wanted him to help lure people into a false sense of security which was something Jasper was so afraid he would do. Even now as he tried to calm and relax everyone he was wary of not allowing them to become to comfortable with the situation and not allowing them to think this situation was something to be shaken off he wanted them all to remain wary of what could happen and go wrong not just view it all as a walk in the park which it would not be. It just made trying to help them even more complicated for him, but it had to be done otherwise he hindered more than he helped.

Esme continued to stare into Carlisle eyes for a few minutes before dropping her head to his chest. She only really sat in his lap this way when she was really troubled and of course today she was. Breathing in and out softly, she did not need to but felt it slightly calming. She could feel herself calming down slightly. The combination of sitting in Carlisle's lap and breathing was helping her. But it still could not keep the thoughts of the ball at bay. For the past few days her overactive imagination had been causing her grief, she had been imagining scenarios over and over. Almost like movies of what would happen. So many horrible possibilities but they were always horrible. She was just unable to condure one that would have them walk out scot free.
Her ears perked as she heard footsteps in the house. She was unsure who it was until Edward walked in the door. Lifting her head from her husbands chest she managed a shaky smile. A slight prickle of joy spread through her as he called her mom. She always loved it when they did. At times like this they really were a family. They pulled together and cared for each other on a level that only a true family could. She opened her mouth to reassure her son but Bella had already bet her to it. Closing her mouth again she observed them before her. She could see the love they shared and it had made her happy from the second they had said they were together.
Edward had been her first child. She had always seen him as such. Although he was created before her, he would always be her son in her eyes. He had been that little extra kick to pull herself through her blood lust to help make their family work. She had always wanted him to be happy, but it had been difficult to find him someone to be happy with. When Bella arrived it put the hope back in Esme. She could see how they were with each other and she was so glad it was finally happening for him.
She could see the worry in his eyes now. She wished more than anything to take all the worry and pain away from every single one of her children. But at a time like this it was difficult. You could only reassure someone so much.
Another small smile appeared on her face when she heard Nessie walk in. She pulled herself together more, trying her best to rid the worry from her eyes. She never wanted to let her granddaughter see how scared she was. "Hello darling." Her voice came out a little too shaky. She silently cursed herself. Turning back to Carlisle she frowned softly. The sunglasses that had been sitting in her hair fell forward onto her eyes. She pulled them off and tossed them on the table beside them.
She wondered who would be next to walk in. They were still missing Rosalie, Emmett, Alice and Jasper. She had no idea where they would be but she hoped they would be home soon. The minute the thought passed in her head she seen Jasper walk in. Carrying a piece of paper, she felt herself panic a little more. When he placed the paper in front of Carlisle, she picked it up and held it for him to read as well as reading it herself. Quickly skimming it, taking the most important facts in. She raised her eyes to her son.
Perhaps this was better than it sounded on paper. If Jasper was to help as a guard, perhaps this meant that Aro would look to their family with leniency. At least she hoped. She realized that there had been considerable silence. She felt like she had to speak. But she was unsure if her voice was going to betray her or not. Since Jasper had entered the room she had felt more at ease, but then she knew her son would be trying to calm them.
Pushing her hair behind her ear, she opened her mouth to speak. "I wanted us all to speak about the ball..." She was glad that her voice was a lot more steady than it had been previously. "I realize that we are all on edge about this. I just wanted to sure that we had a plan in place... In case anything did go wrong." She hated admit this to her family. She always tried her best to be strong for them. "I just want us to be prepared." Whilst she had been speaking she had tried to look at each and every one of them that stood before her. "We should wait for the others though before we begin. But.. Jasper... I think this may be a good opportunity. Our saving grace..." She looked to Carlisle to see if he felt the same.

Carlisle was taken by surprise at Esme sitting down in his lap this was an obvious indicator to her nerves, but he wasnt going to complain he wanted to feel close to her to help calm her nerves as best as he could. He looked at her carefully as she stroked his face gently he managed a small smile loosing himself in her golden eyes trying to reassure her without words. Though Bella was around he did not mind usually the two of them were hardly close to affectionate around their children but he knew she was hurting and worried, that was the only thing that mattered in this moment. As Edward arrived he managed a small smile to his son leaving it to Bella to explain to him what was happening, his immediate concern for his daughter Renesmee made Carlisle smile a little. Carlisle had seen Edward at his worst and now watching how he had grown and how he now had his own family to care for warmed his heart a little.
Shortly after this Renesmee entered addressing him as grandpa making him smile even more as he ran his hand up and done Esme's back softly. She definitely had inherited her stubborn attitude from her parents, it did make him wonder how much it would take to get her to stop calling him grandpa. He really was not that old only five hundred years it really was not that much it was fairly young in vampire years so not a grandfather even though he was and it made him smile no matter how horrible he felt. The arrival of his adopted children always wanted him to suppress any fears and worries for his family, that was what a father did they were suppose to set a standard they were suppose to keep all fears away from everyone else that was what they did. At least that was what he understood they did, he had never really had a father figure who looked after him or cared for him, quality time with his father had involved hunting and murdering people like him only well his father had not been particularly good at it. Still he wanted to do better than his father had with him and watching Edward, Bella and Renesmee made him think he had at least done something right.
As Jasper entered silently placing this envelope in front of him before heading over to the corner keeping up a silent vigil like he normally did Carlisle looked over at him with concern, before turning his gaze to the letter seeing what it read he thought about it for few minutes. It was an interesting occurrence Jaspers ability was not of value to the Volturi but Aro obviously saw how he could make the ball very difficult for everyone. Jasper could make them all angry in seconds, he could make them hate each other or he could make them all smile and be happy, so having him on their side just for once was enough for them that was all they needed to ruin their party. Looking over at Jasper as Esme spook he allowed a thoughtful look to spread across his face he could see where Esme was coming from, but he could tell jasper did not feel the same way, at the same time he could also feel the wave of calm spread through the room as he worked to relieve their doubts and leave him to his own thoughts. "It's a possibility" he said calmly "Though it is unlike Aro to throw around positions on his guard even if they are temporary ones, by the letter he wants to keep the peace and Jaspers ability is good for that, but I have doubts as I'm guessing you had to give your response immediately without properly thinking it over" as he thought he continued to roll his thumb across Esme's hand, it was a difficult situation to be in that he knew especially for jasper who was probably more worried about Alice than himself. This was just another thing to add to his list of worries at the ball, but he would figure it out they would work them through that was why they were here to discuss and figure these things out, taking the letter he took one last look at it before placing it on the table again in case the others were interested in looking at it.

Anything was possible of course, she knew that her daughter had been safe with the pack, of course she hoped that nothing went wrong but they had a lot that needed to be discussed and although she wished they did not have to bring their worries onto her little girl, sometimes there was just no other chioce at all. She knew how excited her daughter was by the ball and that only made things even more paramount. Why they had to put a plan in place and make sure it stuck. She worried more so about her daughter than she did for herself because her daughter had no idea what kind of world she was going to be walking into. She did. Her baby girl was innocent, and she would be meeting others who did not share the same kind of views that most did. Anything could possibly go wrong at the ball and maybe it would go over well. She did not know but she had to prepare for the unknown.
Dangers seemed to be lurking around every corner and even Jacob seemed to be as worried as she was. She had talked to Jacob herself to let him know that she would keep in contact via cell phone should the situation get bad. But she didn’t think it would be. Not that it would matter he and the pack were safer away from Italy. She had hoped Jacob could talk her daughter out of it but knew ahead of time that it wasn’t going to happen. Her daughter was incredibly stubborn just like her father was. Just like they both were. Stubbornness was definitely a family trait. The house had a fantastic aura around it but even now it was dampered by the shadows that were dwelling around them.
When her daughter opened the front door she smiled hearing her daughter’s voice. She moved over to her daughter quickly and gave her a hug. “I had just told them that, sweetheart. And not much we were just gathering everyone together. To discuss things.” She grinned as she looked at her baby girl and then quickly returned to her husband’s side.
Without a shadow of a doubt, she was keeping her eyes upon her family members. It was nice to see them coming together. Escaping or not, she would be watching each of her family members, especially her husband and to her little girl. They all had to be careful of course, as they had to focus on the task on hand. She cared about her family members even if there were times where they were arguing with one another. She watched as Jasper entered the room, of course she watched as he had handed a letter it appeared to Carlisle, her father. Which of course made her curious but she kept her thoughts to herself as she watched the different interactions between everyone. Carlisle was of course the leader of their coven, their family, if you will, and so it was only natural that each of them had a certain respect for him. She had a sixth sense that something was going on, though she could not control. A deep unnecessary breath was taken as she looked around to all of her family members. She trusted each of them, in their own unique way. She just didn’t trust the Volturi and with obvious reasons. Though the second that Jasper entered the room, she could feel a sense of calm wash over her and knew what he was doing with the mood control thing. He was good at it, and she had to admit she was grateful for it.
Like it or not they were all in a position in which they could be taken advantage of, and Jasper was no exception to that. She was not going to be lulled into a false sense of security as she knew where her heart belonged. She was not ultimately comfortable with the situation but was able to suddenly think a little clearer than before. It was not something to forget, or put aside as they had to focus on the topic at hand. It was not a walk in the park as she had hoped it would be. This all had to be taken into account. She had her mother’s consent in what they had discussed and now they had to talk openly with the others. It was safer than being left in the dark.
Still like it or not they had to work together despite their fears, despite their doubts. She had felt better when the family was getting together, though a few key people were missing. Namely her sisters and her other brother. Until they arrived they could not even begin to start this meeting. She was aware that she had always had an overactive imagination, and always could think the worst before thinking of the better things. The thoughts of hers led straight to the ball, and to what end the night would lead to. There were so many scenario’s that could really happen, that could end not only her life but the others, and that is what worried her the most. It flashed before her eyes as though it was a snapshot of a movie or something. The fact of the matter was, the moment would come when they would have to make a choice, and that choice could mean that not all of them would come out of it alive. And if that was the case, she would never forgive herself.
She looked back to her mother as she could tell how difficult the conversation would be, and how tense it would be tonight. They were a true family, maybe not one bonded together by love, but it was working so well that nothing could keep them apart. The love that the family had was a tender one, one that was worth living for. The love she witnessed between her parents, between herself and her husband and that love for her daughter, had been more than enough to prove that they had something worth living for. Something worth dying for. She had known that from the start hers and Edward’s relationship was not going to be easy since she had been human and Edward was not. They had overcome any bond known to mankind to finally be where they were now. Their love had bloomed very quickly and she had loved him enough to take on not only his last name but to become what he was, a vampire. As a wife and a mother she would do anything she had to keep her daughter safe, and to make sure that she did not worry as much. Still individually they were strong, but together they were even stronger. The truth was, there was no denying that time would not be enough to reassure each of them that they were making the right choice. They would attend the ball, she knew that.
It would mean they would all have to face that choice, on their own. She had no idea what Jasper was doing, or about to do, but the letter seemed to make her mother and father both curious. She moved a strand of hair out of her eyes as her golden eyes glanced at her mother. She could hear how her mother sounded, how she was starting to get a steady tone to it. It made her feel a lot more relaxed. “I agree. It’s better to be safe than sorry even if we don’t want to think about those kinds of scenario’s. I think Mom’s right that it’s better to be prepared than not to be.” She stated in a simple way as she knew that she had to keep her thoughts simple so that Edward would not try and pick up on what she and her mother had alredy discussed, as her shield was not currently raised.
“Our saving grace?” Her eyes shot up at her parents first and foremost with her eyebrow raised. She knew that her parents were not the type of individuals to show their love, as they didn’t need to, one could see it in the way they looked at eachother. She had known that since her she or her daughter did not have anyone from her side of the family left, they both had this family in front of them. This was where they belonged. Together, and doing everything they could to ensure that for the next fifty years and even more that they could continue living in peace, the way that they had done thus far. As a parent she knew that her parents both tried to surpress their fears, but she could read them, and knew they were all worried about this ball coming up and the way that it could easily end. It was an uncomfortable situation to be in that was for sure.
When her father mentioned Jasper working for the guard that particular night she was unsure of what to make of it, should something go down she would have her shield up, protecting her entire coven and that of the Denali’s. She did not need to read the letter to understand the importance of it, and what it meant for them all. “The real question, is now that all of this is out in the open what do we do now? What’s our plan?” She asked looking specifically to her parents as she said it.
She was worried about what the Volturi might do if Jasper was working with them for a night. Standing beside her husband she felt herself reach for his hand, mostly out of instinct. She was in fact hoping they discuss this without getting upset. She wondered if her mother would bring up the point the two of them had discussed. Though she doubted it would happen.

Edward Cullen - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - OH, THE POWER TO BE STRONG The Wisdom to be wiseALL THESE THINGS WILL COME IN TIME- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Edward to Bella (Dialog Yes)
We are just gathering everyone together to talk, honey, that’s all. Just like we always do before a big decision comes down. So that we all are on the same page. Edward sigh a small sigh of relive when his wife spoke to him, Edward always did overreact when it came to his family. He smiled and hugged her back kissing her forehead softly.
“That is good to know, I broke like a dozen highway codes getting home, and I may be getting a speeding ticket for going forty-four in 20 marked zone. “Our daughter’s fine, she should be coming home at any time. Last I heard from her she was with Jacob. And we both know where they usually are. In La Push, so they are safe.”
Edwards friendship with Jacob was not the best, but then again he never did see eye to eye with him, and the fact he imprinted on his daughter still annoys him to this day. Is not like he would say anything about it he loved his baby-girl far too much to upset her. So for her sake he would tolerate Jacob, therefore alone. “That is good to know but I will feel better when she is home where I can see her.”
Edward to Renesmee (Dialog Yes)
Edward smiled as he heard the sounds of his daughters voice, between the thoughts of the rest of the family. They where starting to cause mild pain, due to everyone was worried about the ball. Sometimes it really sucks to be Edward Cullen. He would look to daughter with a smile saying. “You know what I told you about that baby girl. I worry about you next time send me text or something letting me know where you are.?”
Edward smiled once again as he sat down and watched his parents, as he did so his older brother Jasper would walk in. most of the family where present, but some had not shown up yet. Emmett and Rose never were that good at keeping track of time, but if they missed the meeting that would be filled in by one other member of the family.
Edward to Esme (Dialog Yes)
“I wanted us all to speak about the ball.” Edward had a feeling this was what the meeting was about, but hearing his mother speak he knew It was in fact about the ball."I realize that we are all on edge about this. I just wanted to sure that we had a plan in place... In case anything did go wrong."
Edward knew deep down that Aro could try something, and this ball would be the prefect cover to carry out his plans. That if he had any to begin with, but with Aro there was no question about it. “Aro is unlikely to do anything to lose face so to speak. Their will be many covens present, and he would not do anything that would make him more enemies then he has at present.”
We should wait at the others though before we begin. But. Jasper... I think this may be a good opportunity. Our saving grace. “Edward smiled again as his mother spoke about his older brother. She was right maybe this was Aro's way of trying to make peace with the Cullen’s, after so many failed attempts to get what he wanted from them.
Yes mother, you may be right this could be Aro's way of making peace with us, but your right, we need a plan encase things do go south. But Jasper is in a better position then us in that respect, he is on the security detail for the night, that means Aro would most likely allow him to sit in on the security preparations meeting.
Edward to Carlisle. (Dialog Yes)
"Though it is unlike Aro to throw around positions on his guard even if they are temporary ones, by the letter he wants to keep the peace and Jaspers ability is good for that, but I have doubts as I'm guessing you had to give your response immediately without properly thinking it over" Edward listened intensely as his father spoke he could have been right about Jasper not having the time to make his mind up, but he must of known Aro would not wait around for an answer.
“Father.. Jasper may not of had time to make his mind up on the subject, but he knows how to handle him self when the time arises, as we all do is that not right.?” Edward was unsure if he should tell them the pact he had made with Kate, if it turned into a fight. They where both willing to die for their families. They both knew they would most likely die, but the pact between cousins is something no one should go back on.
“Father when we are finished here, may I speak to you and mother alone.” Edward was going to tell them the pact he had made with their cousin Kate, but he would not do it in front of his wife or daughter, as it may put them at risk if they knew what he was willing to do to safe them. His parents may not like it, but he knew he could tell them what Kate and himself spoken about.
Edward to Bella (Dialog No).
“The real question, is now that all of this is out in the open what do we do now? What’s our plan?” Edward had nothing to add at this moment in time, his wife had hit the nail on the head so to speak.
