Renesmee could not help but notice the shaky voice of her grandmother when she greeted her. A strange feeling rose quietly inside of her. She grinned mischievously as she saw a smile on Carlisle’s face after she had called him grandpa again, despite being told not to do so for so many times. Her grandfather really would have to put up with her stubbornness for a while, at least until she stopped calling him grandpa but switched to something like granddad. She hugged her mother back and listened to her. Her mother said something about…discussing. The smile on her lips faded slightly as she noticed the tense look on everyone’s face, as if they were worried about something terrible that would happen. Her father’s saying caught her attention. She let out I’ll send you a text next time. But I’m not a child, Dad. I can take care of myself. She said, putting on an easy-going smile. She was over fifty years old but she was still a young, rebellious and innocent spirit. Fifty years had past but she had never changed – she was still that young, annoying yet sweet child to her family. And probably that was what made her father worried about her so much. Perhaps he was worried about her immaturity, which could lead to so many troubles. It was understandable for her father to worry about his little girl but she just really could not get along well with the feeling of being so defenseless and fragile. Soon after her arrival, her uncle – Jasper – came in with a letter in his hand. A smile appeared immediately on the niece’s face as she saw him. The letter. At first, she did not find it very strange but judging the look on her grandparents’ and her parents’ faces, she assumed that it was something unusual, which caused everyone’s curiosity. Her uncle remained quiet and she could read some worries in his golden eyes; that made the atmosphere become rather tense. What was going on? She wished someone would tell her what was wrong immediately so that she would not have to gnaw her curiosity anymore. And Esme spoke up in a more steady voice, bring all eyes on her. Renesmee felt her heart dropped a beat as the ball was mentioned. Now everyone began to be very serious.
To Renesmee Cullen, the ball was just a fun experience, which she did not want to miss at all. Nevertheless, she could see that her family did not feel the same way about the upcoming event. They were scared, worried. The Volturi was the source of problem, once again. Fifty years earlier, she had witnessed her family getting ready for the battle to protect her. She remembered feeling the very same tension as now. After the confrontation with the Volturi, she had never seen them in such condition, until today. Well, it made sense anyway. The Volturi was not a big fan of her family and it had become more obvious after the confrontation. She remembered facing Aro when she had been very young. He had not left significant impression to her though. All she remembered about him was his politeness and the empty smile he always carried with him, no matter how tense the situation was. Carlisle spoke and Renesmee was surprised to know that her uncle Jasper was going to be the Volturi’s helper. No wonder why he looked so worried. Renesmee remained quiet as she did not know what to say. She had never thought joining a fun event could be so dangerous. Now she slightly understood what everyone had tried to tell her. Nevertheless, a question was brought to her mind: if Aro wanted to keep peace, by using her uncle’s ability, why would they have to fear? Besides, there would be other covens. What exactly could go wrong? Her father’s comment put her mind at ease a little, although his later statement made her a bit curious but she decided not to question. Jasper was capable of handling the situation, sure. But what about Aunt Alice? Would she be safe when Jasper was under the control of the Volturi? She wondered where her aunts and Uncle Emmett were now. Her mother talked about the plan and she immediately figured out that she was talking about preparation for the worst situation. I don’t know…but I think whatever they are planning on, they will not make it obvious. I mean of course some necessary accidents may happen, and we should be prepared for that, but they cannot outright do anything to harm us in front of so many other covens. If they want to do anything, they will have to wait for the perfect time, chances to be exact. So we won’t let there be any loopholes for them. Renesmee gulped after saying. She was not sure what she had talked about since she had never talked in such a politic way. She hoped she did not say too much or speak out of turn.

Taking away other people's doubts only seemed to add to his own, it had been awhile since jasper had used his ability on such a crowd of people in an attempt to control them. That was what Maria had wanted to lure the newborns into a false sense of security and then when they were finally of no use they wouldn't see it coming. He closed his eyes for a fraction of a second an action that could be confused with blinking except for the fact that vampires had no need or use for the action of blinking. Jasper was in fact trying force away painful memories that threatened to break the calm hold he had on the house. Their reactions to what he viewed as a monstrous betrayal surprised jasper, but then again they would never understand his ability the way he did, that he could have them all in a heated debate make this conversation so much more interesting. Anger it was one of the most interesting emotions to feel and in his case to watch the way it dominated and the way it was difficult to fight or control. A room full of vampires and they would most likely feel anger towards other in the room or towards the volturi, they would be confused, fearful and most likely doubting the front the volturi were putting on he was wanted to keep them calm and make them get on better but he had to wonder if he could do this without making them completely vulnerable and without suspicion.
Everyone seemed to be talking but none to him directly their overall joy to having him on the guard for a night confused him further, but then again his ability was insignificant as was he if Aro had asked for Edward or Bella the whole house would be in uproar same went for Alice too not that she would accept. When it came to him though things were simpler Aro did not see the value of an emotion manipulator in his ranks and for that Jasper was proud. Even if he did Jasper would never join him that he knew already. As Edward spoke Jasper shook his head, "I feel this offer had been made as a guarantee of our attendance, he knows if I go Alice will follow and that you all won't be far behind and are unlikely to just let the two of us go alone" he spoke not looking at anyone in particular just voicing his opinion this seemed like the logical reason, Aro did not ask for help not when he could walk in and take what he wanted, so in jaspers opinion this was out of character for him but then again he did not know Aro as well as Carlisle.
Then again Jasper was a tactical thinker his mind worked in a different way to everyone else's they wanted to start a war he could figure out the best way to take the castle use the vampires they had to their advantage, but peace talks and keeping said peace was out of his comfort zone. Renesmee's comments made the glimmer of a smile appear on his face she was so young and her statement though true was obvious to those who had met the volturi before still he was not going to highlight this if she felt like she was contributing then that was enough. A plan that was what Bella seemed to want and Jasper nodded slowly "A plan will be difficult to formulate with Aro's true intentions unclear I do however doubt that this ball is just about keeping the peace between covens, he is inviting people from all around as I understand and I am willing to suggest that each of these covens have at least one vampire with an ability like Ed or Alice that he wished to claim, the Volturi do not just throw a grand ball they have had centuries for one so why choose this moment? What has changed?"
These were his thoughts on the matter ones that he usually kept close to his chest, he was not one for speaking in meetings like this, but this one concerned him and Alice in fact all of them and he felt inclined to offer his thoughts on the matter. Even though he stayed away from them all keeping ton the outskirts where he felt most comfortable, he normally preferred to just listen and remain silent but since now whether he liked it or not he had been dragged into the conversation and into this ball it seemed best his thoughts on the matter were supplied to the others.

Esme melted into Carlisle touch, as his hands moved up and down his back she felt a smile spread across her face. The more he touched her the more relaxed she was feeling. He always knew how to make her feel safe, and in turn it made her feel calmer. But there was still one fear that shone through, she was scared for her mate. She feared for her whole family. But it was different for her mate. She had felt the pain of losing someone you loved more than anything before and she could not experience that pain again. Carlisle was her life, he had saved her and made everything worth living for. He loved her in a way that no one else had ever had. And the prospect of losing him was just too much to handle.
Esme felt a bit better of the situation since reading the letter from Jasper. She always thought the best in people, and sometimes that was her biggest failing. Raising her eyes to Jasper again she gave him a smile to try and reassure him. He was obviously feeling the stress too. He now had an important part to play in the ball, and this could in turn save their family from the worst. She turned to Edward as he spoke to her. "I hope so son. I understand what you are saying but he will find someway to harm us... that's if he is planning to." She realized that what she had first said was showing her fear. She did not want to upset anyone so added the last thing on the end to try and reassure them that there was a possibility he may not hurt them.
Raising her eyebrow at Edward as he wished to speak in private, she suddenly wondered if he had found out about what she had been saying to Bella. She felt a slight jolt of fear spread through her. She wondered if she was going to get a dressing down for saying she would stay behind and offer herself up to save her family. She just nodded herself softly at him, being careful to contain her thoughts about it just in case it had nothing to do with it.
There was obviously a lot to think about. They still had to establish the plan like Edward had said if things went south. She hated to think about anyone hurting her family but it was a bigger possibility now. Esme listened to her granddaughter speaking. Sometimes she forgot that she was fifty years old. "I think you are right darling, we need to minimize the loopholes where they can hurt us." She hated to talk like this in front of her granddaughter but they had to be honest with each other.
Esme felt for Jasper, in fact she felt for every single one of her children. They all had mates to think about as well as the rest of their family. They were all in the same situation. They all wanted to protect everyone. "Obviously his plan before was to try and get as many of the gifted vampires as possible. Aro is greedy. He wants them all for himself." She sighed slightly. "We just have to consider all the possibilities. We have to plan for the worst and even for different scenarios." Esme had had some thoughts herself about formulating plans. Mostly about how they should dress for the ball. It had to be practible, especially the women.
She had no idea herself what she was wearing as of yet but she wanted to make sure she was able to run in it and fight. Something with loose fabric that could easily be ripped or something short. The males also had to be considerate in the event of a fight.
Esme looked round the room at all their faces again. She wished that this never had to happen. But they had to attend. She was sure if they did not then the situation would be far worse than it is if they did attend. Aro would no doubt punish them for bring rude if they did not attend. She feared for those vampires that assumed different. Turning to Jasper she spoke. "I think he has been observing the coverns from a far, perhaps sending his guards in search of those unknown to him and realizes the true power of those that he does not have control over. And now he wants them. He wants to bring us all in one place. And try and win the gifted over. Or use Chelsea on them." She shuddered at the thought.
Esme did not know of the full capacity of the guard as she had had little contact with them but she was sure that there was more to the guard now. Aro would have found additional people willing to join him."Does anyone know if he has added to his ranks?" She was merely asking to see what they were up against.

Carlisle nodded listening to everyone as they took their own turns to speak everyone seemed to be thinking about the volturi straight on which was not the way the Volturi worked they would not draw them into an open fight if Aro was going to do anything he would come at them sideways. "You don't have to worry he would not actually attack us at the ball, though he may want certain abilities Aro and the Volturi have a reputation to hold up" He explained this was true image was an important part of the Vollturi's demeanour that they are this important exclusive club and they would not invite as many other covens as possible so as to mess up any chance with allying with them that was just foolish and Aro was not that foolish he knew. If Aro was trying to make a statement he would throw a ball he would not set up an entire party setting just to let it descend into chaos "Renesmee is right Aro will play the long game, he will look for these loop holes I believe this Ball is a front for something else, but what it truly is for is impossible to tell we are under no threat of a physical assault whilst we are there I think it's the mind games that we have to fear"
Carlisle nodded to Edward rather curious about what he wanted to talk to them about and actually a little worried about him, hopefully it would be nothing bad. As he thought he continued to rub seems back therapeutically hoping it was having some sort if calming effect in her she cared so much about everyone and she did not need to be totally worried. When Jasper spoke Carlisle turned his head to look over in the corner where jasper could usually be found always favouring to stand away from them all, though he was not sure Carlisle did believe a cool calm effect was beginning to spread through the occupants of the room and if this was so then Jasper was responsible and Carlisle was grateful.
It seemed that was a popular question why now? "Aro is subtle he is aware of Alice's eye on his future and his decisions so it will difficult to see if he has or not, we won't really know until the day, but I'm sure he has Aro is always collecting it just depends on what they can do" Carlisle knew quite a bit about vampire abilities and that none of them could be repeated each ability was unique to the vampire, not even variants of abilities have come up yet but that leaves thousands of possibilities for Aro to choose from. Still he must be collecting more vampires to make himself stronger and if it was his ultimate plan to make sure he took the strongest vampire abilities then he would come for Alice and Edward soon.
"I don't think an exact plan of sorts is needed Aro won't start a fight, but I think we need to be weary of his plans and what actions he might take particularly in the case of you and Alice" he said looking to Edward "We still have Bella's shield which puts us at an advantage against the powers of Chelsea and Jane or Alec but we must be cautious ourselves not to start a fight we must make sure our precautions are not obvious to the volturi or they may perceive us as a threat to them"

She had known that Edward had it in him to overreact over any little thing. She chuckled lightly as she felt him hug her back and kiss her forehead softly. “That is if they catch you dear. You’ve always been too fast for them.” She chuckled as she thought about her husband and his driving, even though she was a vampire now and liked the speed, she knew how dangerous it could be. Of course it was difficult to say the least that Edward and Jacob did not exactly see eye to eye on anything. Mostly because of the fact that Jacob had wanted her for the longest time and now it was because Jacob had imprinted on their little girl which meant they would always be linked to the shifters, permanently now. She loved Jacob, as a friend and a brother more than anything else. She would never view him as a son though despite the fact he was essentially to be her daughter’s mate.
Jacob would forever be a friend to her and she tolerated not only him but his pack as well, including Sam’s despite their disagreements. “I know sweetheart but she’ll be here soon enough.” She smiled warmly at her husband as she loved how overprotective he could be. When their baby girl finally walked in the door she watched as her husband communicated with her. She knew how Edward was about wanting to know where their daughter was. “She might not have told you, honey but she did tell someone so relax a little would you?” She told her husband with a soft chuckle. She found a seat next to her husband as they were starting to get most of their family members together which could of course affect a lot of things. Some things more than others.
But if someone missed this meeting the rest of them would fill them in later. She could tell that her mother was worried about the ball given their own conversation a few days ago. When her mother spoke about a plan, she smiled of course. Of course when Edward spoke of Aro, she went and took a hold of his hand. She understood her husband’s point of view but that did not mean she couldn’t panic a little. She continued to listen to her mother as she felt bad about Jasper being the scapegoat of it all. “I hope that it is what Aro is hoping for, that we could at least have peace without some kind of fight. And yes, Jasper might be in a better position in that respect. Still, I think it is best to be prepared nonetheless. She felt bad that Jasper would have been in that kind of situation but as she listened to their father, it didn’t sound like any of them had that much of a choice. She did agree with both Kate and her mother on one thing, if things did go south they’d get those out who were in no shape to fight, or that should risk their lives in that kind of a situation. Though she knew her family, all of them, including the Denali’s enough to know that no one would dare leave a family member behind. No matter what was at stake. She raised an eyebrow when Edward had spoken about talking to their parents alone. It made her worry a little about what it was he wasn’t telling her but for that moment she let that worry subside. She had enough to worry about, without considering all the what-if’s that were out there. She knew that anything and everything was possible.
The truth was she hopd that her brother, Emmet, would not dare do something to provoke the Volturi since he was capable of doing just that. That would of course start a fight and many of them would lose their lives. No matter what kind of abilities they had on their side. She loved her family and would do anything she could to help them. A smile arose on her face when she heard her daughter say that she would text her father next time but that she was not a child. And that she could take care of herself. In which she felt the need to reply. “You can’t stop your father from worrying. It’s what he’s been best at since I’ve known him. He just loves you, as do we all, and we don’t want anything bad happening to you. That’s why we’re always so protective over you, sweetheart.” Yes essentially her daughter was not a little girl anymore, since she was over fifty years old but no matter how much time had passed she would always be hers and Edward’s little girl and nothing could change that.
She even worried about her little girl even though she knew when she was around the pack she would be safe, as safe as she could be, when she was at home. She had realized that the letter of course that her parents had from Jasper was more than enough to cause a problem. Though she trusted her brother’s instincts far more than she had probably let on. Jasper could in fact handle himself.
Her golden eyes glanced between her parents, to her husband and back to her little girl. The fact of the matter was anything that had to do with the Volturi could be considered a bad thing though she hoped it would not be the case. The ball was a cause for concern given their last encounter with the Volturi and knew that they weren’t ones to give second chances. It was a tense topic to be on but the truth of the matter was she was not a big fan of the Volturi and knew her family felt the same. To her daughter it was differnet because she didn’t feel the trouble as much as the rest of them did. Whatever was going to happen would. She knew that better than most but she did not trust that the Volturi wanted Jasper’s help. Aro had never wanted to collect him before, and so she hoped this was all just a one time thing. Everything could go wrong and she knew that but she tried not to voice that particular subject. Her mind shifted to that of her sister, Alice.
She worried what Alice would think about that, and why hadn’t she, or Rosalie or Emmett shown up yet? It was unlike Alice to be late. But Rosaliea nd Emmett she could understand. They weren’t known for their time keeping ability. She listened to her daughter and sighed. “It’s not necessarily what they would do in front of other covens, but you’re right,...if they want to strike, they’d have to wait until everyone else was not around.” Internally she didn’t know how accurate it was, but she had to believe in what her father had said and her husband as well since they knew the Volturi better than she did. When it came to Jasper and what he was supposed to do, it was not something she would have hoped for, for her brother but alas it could be worse. She didn’t have to understand Jasper’s ability to know that he wasn’t too keen on helping the Volturi anyway. She was sure it would get overwhelming for him from time to time. Though she would not do anything to make it any worse when they were in Volterra.
She couldn’t imagine what she would have done if she had been Jasper as she did not want to attend the ball really, but felt she had to, because the rest of her family would be in attendance and she would not be the only one left at home. She cleared her throat. “I agree. Aro knows how devoted we are to one another. Where one of us goes, usually the rest of us are not too far behind.” She may not have known Aro as well as Edward and Carlisle did but things were changing and she could see that herself.
A sigh escaped her lips as she looked aorund the faces in the room. “I don’t know what Aro’s intentions might be, but I do know you’re right Jasper. It’s not just about keeping the peace between everyone. There’s something bigger at stake here and if you’re right about him using this as a chance to collect those with an ability that he finds worth taking then, I’d have to say he waited all this time to make us think that we’d be able to live our lives in peace without any other form of direct contact with the Volturi. Maybe nothing. Maybe he’s just trying to lure us out of what we’ve had—a relatively comfortable existance. He doesn’t strike me as someone that would give up that easily. There’s no telling why he chose this particular time to have a grand ball.” She looked at her brother and sighed. Whether they liked it or not, there was usually a reason that something like this happened and they had to be prepared nevertheless. She then turned her attention back to her mother.
The truth was, she was scared for the entire family, but it was different when it came to thinking about her daughter or her mate. She might not have been a vampire as long as some of them but she was certian of one thing that they would defend eachother nevertheless. The very foundation of their family unit lay between her parents. The idea of losing even one of them, the thought of it alone was horrible. The idea of losing anyone, especially her husband or her daughter was far too much to tolerate.
Everyone seemed to be feeling the stress of course, but Jasper had to be feeling it more so than anyone. She did not know if Aro did plan to hurt her family but there was always a possibility that like the others said that Aro could simply just want peace with them. She had not dared tell Edward about the conversation she had with her mother about staying behind, how her mother had essentially offered herself up to save their family. Being a shield allowed her to keep her thoughts to herself. She smiled at her mother’s comment to her daughter. It was good to see the family communicating with eachother.
They all had someone to protect, their mates, their siblings, their parents, and in her case her daughter too. She nodded to her mother as her mother spoke about Aro collecting abilities, agreeing with what her mother had to say about it. “I agree, at least plan something, anything at this point.” She did not know what else they could do, other than to just wing it, which never seemed to work out very well. They had to be practical in what they wore in case a fight did break out.
Although she wished that they didn’t have to attend the ball, she knew if they didn’t that Aro would punish them somehow and she didn’t want to know what that kind of punishment would be. She stayed silent as she listened to her mother discuss how Aro had watched certain covens from afar until he saw something he wanted. She knew that Aro would use any of his own guard to make sure they were swayed to his side, and none was more difficult to withstand than that of Jane, Alec and Chelsea. She shook her head no when her mother asked if she knew about any new ranks.
That was when her father spoke and she turned her gaze towards him. “What sort of mind games should we be expecting? Since you know him better than the rest of us.” She asked her father as she was in fact curious. She feared that Aro would in fact try and come in, and attempt to take Alice and Edward, first, and then if he wanted he would try to take her as well. “Yes and my shield will be ready if needed. I won’t pull it out unless I see it is absolutely needed. Because you’re right, I don’t want to start a fight if we can help it. And if they percieve us as a threat they may attack.” She replied to her father first and foremost as she looked at him.

“I'll send you a text next time. But I am not s child, dad I can take care of myself.” Edward smiled as he heard his daughter say she no longer a child. It was true she was not but Edward would not stop worrying about her even if she sometimes believes that her dad cramps her style, kids of this era dont know how good they have it.
“ I know baby-girl, but with this ball coming up I cant stop worrying about you. I know I may cramp your style but you may no longer be a child, but your still my daughter and will follow mine and your mothers rules. Edward did not like talking to his daughter like he did; but she did not seem to understand what was really at stake here.”
“Nessy.. your are correct. Aro wont do anything in front of the other covens, but you do not know him like we do. He always has plans encase his first ones fail. But I do not object to you going, but I will set one rule. Stay with one of the family. And if things look like they may turn nasty find your Cousin Kate, she will do the rest.”
Edward to Esme (Dialogue Yes)
"Obviously his plan before was to try and get as many of the gifted vampires as possible. Aro is greedy. He wants them all for himself. We just have to consider all the possibilities. We have to plan for the worst and even for different scenarios." Edward always trusted in his mothers words, she had saved him many times from losing it or saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.
“ Mother.. plan or not Aro will always be one step ahead of us, but I understand what your saying, but we all know what would guarantee that Aro leaves us alone for the rest of time.. It does not bare thinking of but that is also an option.
Edward was talking about if He and Bella willingly joined the Volturi , Aro would then most likely leave them be. But he really hoped he would not have to use that card if it ever came to that then god only knows what would happen if he did join them.
Edward – Carlisle (Dialogue Yes)
"We still have Bella's shield which puts us at an advantage against the powers of Chelsea and Jane or Alec but we must be cautious ourselves not to start a fight we must make sure our precautions are not obvious to the Volturi or they may perceive us as a threat to them" Edward watched as his dad spoke about his wife’s shield it would indeed come in handy but even Aro would have planned for that.
“ Father.. Aro will no doubt have guard that can fight on duty, he must be aware that Jane and Alec s ability’s would be useless with Bella in the room. So if anything she would be his first target for that very reason.. But I will not let thath happen you have my promise on that.”
Edward - Bella (Dialogue Yes)
“Yes and my shield will be ready if needed. I won’t pull it out unless I see it is absolutely needed. Because you’re right, I don’t want to start a fight if we can help it. And if they percieve us as a threat they may attack.” Edward watched his wife again. “ My love, as long as we attend the ball and respect them, no harm will come to us. But all it takes is one small spark and it will in-turn become a fire.”
Edward was ready to die for anyone in this room, but he sure as hell hoped he could walk back out of their with is head still attached to his body. But only time would tell; will the Cullen's walk out of their as friends or as enemies, that all depended on his father skill of befriending his old friend

Post by RENESMEE CARLIE CULLEN on May 6, 2013 2:55:03 GMT -8
Renesmee let out a small sigh, watching her parents getting overly worried about her again. She was not a child, maybe very young for a vampire but no longer a child. But they did not understand that, or they did not want to. Honestly, she saw no threats in the upcoming ball held by the Volturi. What if they had good intentions? What if they wanted peace? She rested her chin on the palm of her hand while listening to her family discussing the issue. Were they overreacting? Her chocolate-brown eyes settled on Carlisle with a pensive look on her face. Her grandfather had lived with the Volturi for quite a while; therefore, his judgment should never be wrong under any circumstances. Furthermore, Carlisle was not the type of person who was careless in thinking, or judging. Should she be panicked? Because Jacob was; and her entire family was as well. Her father mentioned the Volturi’s aim to recruit as many talents as they could so as to enhance their power. That did make sense, although there was no proof to accuse them of plotting such a thing. She was one of the gifted members in the family; nevertheless, her abilities were not so useful and she highly doubted that Aro would be fond of them. But Aunt Alice and her father had the abilities Aro was dying to have in his army. It would not be a surprise if the leader of the Volturi tried to do anything to recruit them. Her mother spoke, letting her opinions about the topic be known. Renesmee truly wished there would not be a fight; because there would casualties if that happened. She knew what the losses tasted like – it was not sweet at all. Would the Volturi understand that?
Renesmee remained quiet, trying to suppress a smile forming on her face as hearing the comments about her statement. She was young but she knew she could do something to help; or just to show her family that she had seen the point of the problem so that they would not be worried about her. Loopholes – funny things. She said it but did not really understand its meaning. She completely had no idea what a loophole could be like; and how the Volturi would use it to attack her family. Now the young hybrid reckoned she was too unaware. She did not fear for herself but her family. They were everything she had in this wide world as well as this endless life. Sometimes she wished she could be strong enough to protect them all from harms; but her abilities were limited due to her being a hybrid, not a true vampire. If anything happened to them at the ball, she would never be able to forgive herself; because it was her that was so excited about the ball that she cared about nothing else. A smirk slightly grew on her face as her mother questioned what kind of game Aro was planning on playing. The game of cats and mice, perhaps. She said nonchalantly, looking aimlessly at the opened window. She loved that game but it depended on who she was playing with. Renesmee knew that her family would safe as long as they stick together. Her mother’s shield would be strong enough to protect them from other influences coming from the gifts of the Volturi guards, such as Chelsea’s they were talking about. It set her mind at ease but did not reduce the nervousness. Her father’s statement was kind of true. They were bound to make peace at the ball; not join a war or anything similar. But a bit of carefulness was never too much. They should be prepared for any situation.

Jasper listened carefully though his focus was not entirely on the conversation, he was still focusing on looking over each individuals feelings, the way their emotions gave them away, how their thoughts triggered their emotions over everything and how they felt. Though it was quite a cruel, doubt was an interesting emotion to feel and to watch how it spread all it took was one little ember of doubt in one person and it could spread through like wild fire, but then again doubt was easy to loose at the same time, it just too a more comfortable feeling. In the same way that doubt could be combated with comfort it was also a difficult one to fight without instilling a false sense of security towards their discussion topic, it made calming everyone very difficult in deed, Jasper still found the best way to proceed was with serenity not true serenity for that would be useless to all of them, they would not see the true fears that could occur at the ball. Instead he just allowed a soft gentle wave, only slightly so that each of them would still feel and see hope that it would not get entirely crowded by their doubts and fears.
Though their thoughts and considerations were admirable in his opinion he hated to say it, but in his eyes besides the fact that Aro would want to recruit which was pressing enough there was another very important matter that should be discussed, though it was not his business really he did not want it to go unsaid and cause problems later. "If I may interject another discussion point, though Aro's intentions and recruitment plans are important there is nothing we know on this and the only thing we can do is go there with the protection of Bella's shield, Aro can not match that" He took a deep and unnecessary breath rather worried he was crossing some sort of boundary that he should not, but it affected him and was important "Though it is not my position to say, I fear a more important topic of conversation would be Renesmee's presence at the ball, though the decision is not mine to make, you forget that we upset the apple cart a fair while ago with her birth and the Volturi do not forgive easily we all know that, as much as they will make us all feel welcome in the same way they look at Edward and Alice with desire, I fear there maybe a certain amount of malice towards Renesmee. As well as this it must be considered that you are also half human and there will be many a vampire there confused by this concept, I understand that Aro will 'protect' everyone as will his guard, you must consider the threat that other vampires will pose. As I said it is not my decision, but I do not think it is a decision that should be made lightly"
Jasper felt a little awful for bringing something like this up and for sharing such doubts and fears, but he was only concerned about his adopted nieces safety, he had seen how she had changed not only Edward's life but their own, how much happy Rosalie and Esme were even if they hid their secret longings for a child of their own. How she walked through the house with ease lifting everyone's spirits it was fascinating to watch. She was a very peculiar child like that, but peculiar in a good way in the best way possible. "Forgive me if I have spoken out of turn or I have crossed a mark I just feel it is something that should be discussed if not between us all, these thoughts should at least be raised to you" In particular Edward and Bella, he really did not want to have to tell Renesmee that vampires would hate her for what she was, but it was true they would jump to the conclusion of an immortal child and though they would see the truth they may not accept it or see to fight against it even though such risks may not be taken right under Aro's nose they would occur. Renesmee would draw such attention to the crowd her story was well known, the story of their coven's stand against the volturi was well known and it may draw unnecessary attention to them on the night what they needed more than anything was to remain unseen as much as possible he thought to himself and the best way to do this would be for her not to be in attendance, but that was not only not his decision to make, it may also be seen as an unfair decision, in any way it was not his to make that was between Bella, Edward and Renesmee herself.

Esme sometimes had the habit of over thinking things and making them seem worse than they were. Although she would never make a big deal out of it, it would tear at her internally until she was able to see sense of it or fix the situation. The ball seemed to be one of these issues, where she over thought what was going to happen or thought was going to happen and worried herself to death. Of course her family were right. The Volturi never went for the obvious kill. They would never gather them all in one place and kill them. It was just not how Aro worked. He was of course being very sneaky. Covering his tracks and keeping the future possibilities a secret until he had them right where they wanted them. Of course this provided difficult for Alice as she was then unable to see exactly what the future would hold for them.
They were all worried and wound up, mostly due to the imminent danger than they were going to be in. Aro would find some way to hurt them, if that was his intentions. She could see the worry and fear plastered in every one of her families faces. It was a pressing time for all of them, especially those with powers like Jasper, Alice and Edward. They all had to suffer not only their worry but that of everyone else. Esme had tried her best to keep her thoughts to herself and even conceal her thoughts as not to alarm Edward. And calm herself down when she was around Jasper, as he had a lot on his plate already.
The rhythmic rubbing of her back was very calming. She felt herself calm more, she was no longer all worked up. They were safe, as they were all together and they always would be safe as long as they were together. And they would be at the ball. Esme worried slightly that it would be Aro's play to split them up. Especially Bella. If he removed Bella from the equation in some way they would all be vulnerable and would be a larger target. She had realised that continuously thinking about Aro's plays was not worth thinking about. She was just torturing herself more with worry and there was no point. The events would unfold and they would deal with them at the time and moment they occur. For now they had more important things to talk about.
Her eyes moved towards her granddaughter and she smiled softly. The girl was not little anymore but she did not understand the way they did. She had yet to learn of the truth of the Volturi and the rest of the world. It was not her fault, it would come with age. She did worry for Renesmee a lot more. Partly as she had touched all the family in different ways and if anything was to happen to her everyone would give it their all to hurt/kill as many people as possible. It was just the effect the girl had on everyone. Everyone loved her dearly.
Esme listed carefully to everyone as they spoke. They all had different things to say and that was the point of being a family, being able to talk and explore everyone's thoughts and feelings. Looking to Jasper as he spoke about Nessie she felt herself nodding slightly. Esme felt something along the lines of what Jasper was saying. It was dangerous for Nessie to be there with all the vampires and it would be ideal for the girl to stay home. But who was she to deprive the girl of this? Renesmee had shown so much excitement and happiness towards the ball it would be a shame to not allow her to go.
Esme reached for her husbands hand and grasped it tightly, she rubbed small circles into it with her thumb and gave him a slight smile. "I don't think you are speaking out of turn Jasper, it is something that has to be considered. But Nessie really wants to go I think..." She glanced towards Nessie and then around to Bella and Edward. In the end it would be their decision to allow her to go or not.
"We just all have to stick together. Our cousins in Denali will stick with us too, as will some of our other friends from different covens. As long as we are together we hold a chance, no matter what Aro is planning."
